Connect the VCR to XPS 8300.

How can I connect an old VCR to my Dell XPS 8300.  Girl has some old tapes and I need to transfer them to my hard drive...?

I am in the same boat. I have a card PCI Hauppauge 1600 (same again of digital TV Tuner ATSC) that capture Composite and S-video, very well. Had in an old box of AMD Dual-Core. It records MPEG-2 files to a 720 x 480 resolution with a flow of data up to 12Mbits/sec.

Problem is the internal PCI slots are hard to find these days. Besides, I thought that a USB solution would be nice because I could just bring the portable VCR or other component according to the needs.

I don't need a TV Tuner. Beware that you can get (64 bit) drivers and software works on planned OS as Win7 - 64 bit of capture.

I narrowed down it to these:

Device of video Capture and Hauppauge 610 the analog video digitizer USB - Live 2

And if the price is not a problem, I read this Elgato USB is quite nice. Runs on Windows or Mac:

  • XPS 8300 nine connects to the Broadcom Netlink Communication card only after restarting 3 - 4 times at cold start.

    Hello

    I just bought a new XPS 8300.

After woeking OK a few days, now it connects to the Broadcom Netlink Communication card only after restarting 3 - 4 times at cold start.

    Someone has the same problem?

All other computers in the House connect from the first shot. (two cell phones and another office.) They have much slower computers.

In the beginning, I have re-installed the driver (DVD and downloaded), but not that's the problem.

The computer must have a little hot.

When it does connect, Test the Dell tool DOES NOT SHOW (does not appear in the list of tests) Broadcom NetLink Gigabite Ethernet card.

I'm a little disappointed, it's a brand new computer, I was expecting more problems from the beginning.

    Thanks, Cristian, Montreal, Canada

    All,

According to the received update, please call Support technical and would take appropriate action.

The fix is based on case to case, so I would ask all those who face this problem to call tech support for your region.

The technical team sent details to the technical team and the TS process for this issue should go smoothly.

FYI: I was not provided with a patch, please contact Dell Technical Support for more details.

  • Connection continues deleting Windows 10 Dell XPS 8300

    Hi all

I have problems with my Dell XPS 8300, I installed the new 10 windows a few weeks back and since the installation of connection to internet keeps falling.

My internet is with Virgin Media and I connect directly via an Ethernet cable to the router.

Said my Broadcom Netlink gigabit Ethernet network card

After doing some research I think my card is called BCM57788

    Thank you

I'm glad to hear that I am not on my lonesome.

I did as you did and downloaded the Intel scanner from their site. The only thing he told me was that I need a later version. INF file.

I also watched the page drivers Dell, which is not up-to-date. Intel reported the update is not listed, but there is a BIOS update, when I try to apply it, saying that it is older than the current version. Not very useful.

I'd install the Intel update but I'm not sure if it will work. There are a lot of guard, but not much reassure layouts.

On top of that, Dell does not do anything to see if my machine is able to win 10.

As usual, Dell are completely behind the curve on this.

  • My Dell XPS 8300 hard drive fails? Intel Rapid Storage detects the error when starting upwards.

My computer (dell xps 8300) has recently frozen and when it restarts it scored one of my RAID 0 hard drives as being a mistake. Surprisingly, my computer still works as always and after an investigation, I traced the gel to vuze trying to check a file after he was already down. I deleted the files causing the freeze and have not yet encountered any more freezing problems. But I'm still very worried, so I ran a disk check, who quickly said the disc is clean, and I also ran tests HD (Long & short) dell support center several times and they always say that readers are working properly. Today, I ran a checkdisk windows another who had a lot more time but seem to come clean. But to restart the computer disk was marked later once again as being a mistake. So I ran the tests of short and long and difficult road dell support center, once again, and the sound still saying everything is working properly. I then decided to try to start some other diagnostics of hard disk: seagate seatools and rescuer of Western Digital. The player has passed the tests of the Seatool, but almost immediately failed the tests of rescuer WD giving the error that there are too many bad sectors. Any advice on how to proceed would be much appreciated!

Lack of an operating system is the message you get when in fact there is a properly peripheral storage seen by your BIOS, but it is not a valid partition with a valid boot sector table.

I fear that you may have installed the operating system on a RAID-0 configuration and only now try to start from one half of the band?  Yes, you can WD 500 GB RAID-0 an and a 1 TB Seagate together.  It would be foolish (same capacity as a single player, but all the falls of RAID-0) but the computer doesn't know any better.

The RAID configuration (breaking apart the RAID) must arrive before the installation of the o/s.  The RAID/mobo card is one of the early stages of the process, he takes these 2 physical disks and mounted as a storage to the motherboard, allowing it to boot from it etc.

No matter what is happening currently, my advice would be to remove the RAID from the system discs.  You don't want a broken drive / failure connected, even if you do not use it because the computer will continue to warn / complain the RAID broke, the startup BIOS will be keep showing you a disc is seen mistakes SMART, and finally the failed drive can degrade to the point it actually damage something.

  • Person we know what power supply is on the XPS 8300

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 8300 and you want to buy a video card double to support two monitors.  I read a few different items to a 500 Watt power supply.  I looked on the delivery, when I bought the 8300, but it does not show the power.  Other than opening the case, is there a way I can find food that is installed?

    Thank you!!!

I think it's the same thing that the 8500 is 460W, which has two six pin PCIe power connectors.

    What exact card do you?

In addition, if you have not opened the file in a while, you could do this (outside) with a can of compressed clean air on the dust bunnies.

  • cable connecting the sound card to before i/o Panel for XPS 420

I have a desktop computer XPS 420 I recently installed a Sound Blaster X - Fi Sound card on. I found that I need the cable that connects the new sound card to the audio of the front panel IO on the XPS 420. The sound blaster card appears to be a connector 10 pin but the plug on the i/o Panel seems to be much larger, as a 20 PIN... but I'm not sure. Anyway, I can't find a cable that works. Anyone seen elsewhere or solved this problem before? There was a post for a similar situation for a XPS 410 computer, but I don't think that the solution to this post will work for me (not sure this is the right cable). Thanks to someone out there who can help.

  • Why the visiontek radeon 7970 3 GB graphics card does not work with my xps 8300?

I bought a Radeon 7970 visintek 3 GB graphic card thinking that it works with my xps 8300. It fits everything is plugged in correctly, but when I turn on my computer does not recognize the graphics card? The graphics card is not broken I build it in another computer and it works perfectly. I am very disappointed at this because I thoughtI would save money, do not buy a new computer and just buy the food and the radeon. It turns out that the Radeon does not work. If someone could tell me what the problem is, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Jon

    Hi Jongerber,

A 500W (or more) power with a 150W power connector 8 pin PCI Express and a connector power 75W 6-pin PCI Express is recommended for the graphics card AMD Radeon 7970. Your XPS 8300 has a diet of 460W. This maybe one of the reasons for the question from the video card works on another computer.

Please see the link below for the requirements for the graphics card of Radeo 7970:

    http://Dell.to/1brhNaJ

The following video cards are compatible with the Dell XPS 8300.

    Discreet (PCI Express x 16 card) - NVIDIA GTX460, NVIDIA GT420 (M207)
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5670/HD 5770 / HD 5870/HD 5450

When you click the compatibility Option in the link below, you will see that the XPS 8300 is not listed under supported for the video card Visiontek AMD Radeon 7970 systems.

  • XPS 8300: Can I put the food?

I would like to upgrade my power supply for my XPS 8300 to something with 500W or later. Exceeding of several internet forums, it seems that some people were able to do, but they need to change in order to adapt because the exclusive Dell power is shaped differently.

I opened a discussion with Dell and said then that the "maximum power to the system would be 460w", which means that I have no option to upgrade.

Can anyone else confirm this? It seems fairly ridiculous that Dell would bother someone to upgrade their system this way.

    BadgerKing

Yes, generic ATX power supply can be installed, with a power of 20 + 4 pin main motherboard, or 24 pins as the XPS 8300 has a panel back open, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: A power supply with four SATA power connectors, is necessary.

It was reported that it is better to buy a PSU with a depth of approximately 5.9 ".

  • The upgrade of my Dell XPS 8300

    Hello

Currently, I use my Dell XPS 8300 with set up the following:

    • Intel core i7 - 2600 to 3.4 GHz
    • 8 GB RAM
    • GPU: Radeon HD 5770
    • PSU: 460W (AC460AD-00)

It has served me well but shows it's age while I was looking to upgrade the graphics card and the power supply if necessary. But this is the first time I did something like this then I'd some tips / warnings on the potential pitfalls before buying something.

After doing some background reading, I was thinking get a GTX 970 and upgrade the PSU, but I would like to know, questions, I could deal with that. I heard there were problems with XPS 8300 bios don't do not work well with graphics cards. I am currently on AO3, but there is no problem if necessary upgrade.

My budget is around £400-£500 if anyone knows the best ways to update my PC.

    Thank you.

Consider using this for now until you can buy new. Spending that much on unnecessary updates are not handy on a computer that is a few years old. You have a good installation now - 8 GB of ram, big power, i7 cpu that is best for your motherboard - as long as everything works. New computers can easily be purchased for what your budget allows for upgrades. The only thing to consider is a video card a little better that your power supply will take place as well as better control that you can use when you get a new computer. Ignore the upgrade of processor since that is not worth the expense or effort for minimal returns. You most likely impossible to switch the cpu to a newer version without replacing the motherboard. I would make sure to have the latest and probably last - bios A06.

  • Card mother XPS 8300

    Hello

I think the motherboard in my XPS 8300 is trying to die, or at least give me a lot of trouble.

I get different blue screens lately, quite often (up to twice a day). Almost everytime, they were accompanied by sounds from my hard drive (for example, the disc to stop spinning, etc.). If naturally my first step was to get another hard drive and try to back up my data (thinking my hard drive was dying).

I tried with various programs of cloning (AOMEI Backupper, CloneZilla and so on) and they have all failed to clone the drive (usually say they could not create the new disk partition table). I then tried to install Windows 10 fresh on the new drive (with the old drive disconnected) and who also failed with windows saying that it could not format the partition just created on the new drive.

Because the drive is new, I thought, as a test, I will try to connect to another machine to see if it still would not work. Well, it works fine. I am currently cloning my old drive to my new as I wrte it on the other machine. So at least there is that - my data should be safe. I might have bought a hard drive for nothing, but that doesn't matter that much.

An extra tidbit of information, it's that even starting from the cloning software CD was much faster on this machine on my XPS 8300.

So I think at the very least, the drive on the motherboard controller gives me bad.

    Now, my question.

I want to try buying a replacement motherboard, because the whole machine is still very fast (the CPU is one of the first core i7s, but it is always fast and I replaced the card graphics and RAM over the years). So if I was able to solve this problem, I could always get a lot of use from this computer.

Should I try to get the same motherboard model (i.e. a replacement motherboard for Dell this type exact) Dell or that I can find on ebay for example?

Or should I get a micro-ATX Socket 1155 motherboard to another brand of renown such as ASUS or other?

Honestly, I'm afraid that if I get an original parts of the same exact type, it will just fail again somehow not too long from now. This motherboard is actually a replacement that Dell sent a technician to install in my machine after I bought it, because the motherboard of the computer delivered with had a defect... And now this, so I'm not exactly sure in original spare parts from Dell...

I found information on this thread:

    Link to thread

on this same forum explaining what are the specific connectors of the XPS 8300 motherboard, so I should be able to connect any motherboard that fits the case.

What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.

    Hello RoHe,

I ran thorough tests of RAM and HDD diagnosis. It took a long time (about 12 hours), but revealed no problem.

I was able to replace my motherboard.

I wanted to let you know also, that Windows was able to start on the new motherboard (after a phase of 'prepare the pilots' as when you install at the start). Also, it was not enabled when I started, but I was able to use the Windows 7 Pro key that came with my Dell to activate the already installed Windows 10 Pro, it worked like a charm.

So it was way less problems you said it would be, and now my machine is in excellent working condition.

    Thank you.

I really appreciate that get back you to me. I tried a version of many drivers updates patches etc...
