Connect to multiple data sources

Hello

We have a requirement of our ADF application for the request of several databases and therefore several JDBC data sources.

Now, I set up the application according to this white paper:

http://www.Oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/HOWTOs/10G/usingdatasources/using_datasources.html

But it works for a data source. How can I make my ADF BC connect to different sources of data/databases dynamically in the application?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

You can have mutiple load rules and each rule charge using a different data source connection, a charge rule can use a data source connection well.

• Examples of a model of data using multiple data sources?

I'm looking for a sample report using multiple data sources. I saw one where they make a master-detail, but I'm looking to combine the results in a sorted order (sorting between all sources of data). Master/detail used a variable binding to bind two defined queries, I think what I will not have this, so I'm lost on how to get there. I have reports using multiple sql queries and there is a way in the data source drop-down to tell him to combine data sources. It seems to be a process with data models, it is still possible.

Any pointers/links would be appreciated.

• Full of multiple data sources

Hi all

I work in a retail environment in retail and we build reports for stores. There are several reports and that they receive the same reports. We use the BEEP company with breaking function and it works fine.

The problem is that there are too many reports and we would like to consolidate all of the reports from the same store in the same PDF. We use the function of multiple data source and managed to concatenate all the comprehensive reports.

Using this model, and the new report, we cannot make breaking functionality works correctly: the burst report contain all components of report required.

For example, I have 2 questions A and B producing each of the reports for 3 stores: 2, 4, and 5. Without rupture, the result is such that it is:
Query A - store 2
Query A - store 4
Query A - store 5
Query B - store 2
Query B - store 4
Query B - store 5

With the outbreak in a file using the store number, I get the following:
File 1 - store 2 - query A
File 2 - store 4 - query A
File 3 - Store 5 - query A
+ Store 2 - question B
+ Record 4 - B query
+ Store 5 - question B

I wish I had the following result:
File 1 - store 2 - query A
+ Store 2 - question B
File 2 - store 4 - query A
+ Record 4 - B query
File 3 - Store 5 - query A
+ Store 5 - question B

The main question is: is it possible using Enterprise Pub BI? We are using the 10.1.3.3.2 version

If this is the case, can you provide me with help on how to configure either / or queries and the model to accomplish this task?

I create an SR and Support of Oracle is not an answser and suggested someone in the Forum could help.

Thanks in advance,
Minh

I wish I had the following result:
1-2-query A file + Store 2 Store - query B
File 2 - store 4 - query A + Store 4 - query B
File 3 - Store 5 - query A + Store 5 - query B

the level of break must be give to
1-2-query A file + Store 2 Store - query B

the tag in the xml file must be broken down by common to these three rows.

Since the data comes from the application of different, and data won't be under the single label.
You can't burst using the concatenated data source.

But you can do by using datatemplate and bind the request and get data for each file in a single query.

Select distinct store_name in all stores

Select * from query1 where to store the name =: store_name = 1st request

Select * from query2 where to store the name =: store_name = 2nd request

set the datastructure as you wish,

the XML will contain something like that

-to store 2
-to store 3
-for the store 4
-to store 5

Now you can it burst at the store level.

• map a java object to data from multiple data sources

We have the requirement that the attributes in a domain class can come from data from multiple data sources. Is TopLink supports this type of mapping? Is it possible to do this mapping in the workbench?

Thank you very much!

Ming-Wen

TopLink supports a feature of SessionBroker. This allows classes in the same session to come from different sources of data and for the relations between the classes of data sources. It does not allow a single instance of direct data from multiple data sources, but the Forum could have a link with its data in the other data source.

• Allow the application to start with one or multiple data sources, failing to connect?

I have a Spring application that connects to several databases at the start, through JEE definitions referenced via JNDI datasource. Some of these databases sometimes go offline for various reasons. If the application is running at the time, it is not really dangerous, because of the way the application is designed. However, if I try to start the server if the database is offline, the application fails to deploy. Is it possible I can configure data sources not to block the deployment of the application if the database is offline or the application?

Hello. You can ensure that your datasources WebLogic deployment, even if the DBMS (es)
be down in time, specifying the initial capacity of each source of data/pool equal to zero.

• Report Builder 1.0 will not connect to the data source for Reporting SERVICES

Instead of disputed for their IDs, they are requested to select a data source. This information is supposed to be filled automatically when the user starts the Reporting SERVICES report designer.

Does anyone know where/how SSRS communicates information to start the application with one click Report Builder, and where, if anywhere, it stores?

• Connect target 'Generic Data Source' to a MySQL instance

I'm trying to connect to our TEO (2.2) instance to an instance of MySQL, but unable to do so successfully.

The server of TEO, I loaded the MySQL provider and the ODBC driver.

I then try to define the details of the connection to the target:

Host name:

Default user:

Connection string: Provider = MySQLProv; Data Source =

By clicking on 'OK' throws the following error: "'MySQLProv' provider is not registered on the local computer."

Based on the error, it's for me as TEO server does not recognize this provider, but I would like to help on it got to a point where it does.

Could you please provide me with the steps needed to get our TEO instance to connect to the DB?

Thank you
Mark

Solution:

(1) install the Cherry City Software provider: http://cherrycitysoftware.com/CCS/Providers/ProvMySQL.aspx

(2) configure the following connection string: Source Provider = OleMySql.MySqlSource.1; Data =; Initial Catalog =

Thanks a lot C Roberts!

The connection string contains "MySQLProv", that you actually used what?

Looking at the example of c# code (and VB.net) I see this as the provider:

OleMySql.MySqlSource.1

Have you tried that?

It also looks like to

Data source =.

Initial Catalog =

If you arrive there, would probably be best to prosecute TAC for review.

• Problems connecting to JDBC data source

We have recently upgraded to JDeveloper 11 g to 10g and flies our applications (primarily the Struts). They are compiled fine, and I am able to create data sources and successfully test the connection to open the data source through the window of Application resources. The problem comes when I try to connect through the application. In Java code, I use a DataSource object to get the connection of InitialContext.lookup ("jdbc/sun_DS1") where the JNDI name is in parentheses. We used to define this connection in JDev 10 g via the file data - sources.xml and it worked very well. Now with 11g and defines the connection to the application, I don't know if I'm missing a step between the creation of the data source and run the application.

The error I get is: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: while trying to search for "jdbc.sun_DS1" did not find subcontext "jdbc." Solved "; rest the name "jdbc/sun_DS1.

I spent a lot of time reading Oracle help docs and Googling the problem without success.

Help, please.

Once you run your application on the WLS console launch (http://localhost:7101/console) and look to see if JDev created a data source for you in WLS.)
You may need to add it manually.

• Failed to connect to the data source of the network

My access.mdb is located in the folder of public sharing of server1 (everyone has the right to change or remove) and I try to connect my access.mdb to my cold fusion Server (windows 2003 r2 std). It works if I put the mdb locally, but not network.

I got this error

Connection verification failed for data source: cfmydata
com.inzoom.adojni.ComException: a file name not valid.
The root cause was that: com.inzoom.adojni.ComException: invalid not a file name. in the Microsoft JET Database Engine = 0 code Type = 1

The coldfusion service runs under the administrator user and the password. I used the UNC path, but still no luck.

Someone has an idea for me.

I thought about it. Well, not really. I've used ACCESS with Unicode. Once I changed to ACCESS only. The connection is successfully verified.

• Connection to the data source in ColdFusion 8 vs FC 6

Hi all

I have a CF6 app that works well. However, I am in the process of upgrading to CF8, and code no longer works. I went through the documentation and found no information about the replacement code.

My old code gets a data source, acquires a database connection, using the connection and then close the data source.

variables.dsService is a CreateObject ("java", "coldfusion.server.ServiceFactory"). DataSourceService;
variables.dsManager = dsService.getDman ();
variables.dataSource = variables.dsManager.getDataSource (< data source name goes here >);
variables.dbConnection = variables.dataSource.getConnection ();
< insert here the code to use the db connection >
variables.dbConnection.close ();

Under CF8, the error message is "the getDman method not found." So, I've been unable to find any code that will allow me to have access to an object that implements DataSource, so that I can use my connections.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mike K.

In the end, I discovered that what I had was pretty simple

variables.dsService is a CreateObject ("java", "coldfusion.server.ServiceFactory"). DataSourceService;
variables.dataSource = variables.dsService.getDataSource ();
variables.dbConnection = variables.dataSource.getConnection ();

variables.dbConnection.close ();

• Multiple data source connections

We have version 11.1.2.3 Smartview

I should be able to use several sources of data on a worksheet function calculation for ad-hoc analysis view smart with a fork.

I can do it manually, I need VB functions.

Now I use

m = HypRetrieveRange (empty, range ("MyRange"), "Samp1")

You may want to try using the HypMenuVRefreshAll() function, it is the equivalent of the Refresh button all the worksheets in the menu, you can use HypMenuVRefresh() If you want to only refresh a single sheet.

• CFTransaction & amp; Multiple data sources

We need to update to multiple sources of data in CFTransaction. We have two databases MSSQL so I could create a view in to the other and that works (unless someone knows of an issue that could cause). But we also have a MSAccess database that gets hit too under the same CFTransaction. CF, you cannot have multiple sources of data in a CFTransaction. If all tranasction control is located on the side db, why CF care if there are different sources of data?
Thank you.

Not sure how long I wanted to get away from access. Maybe you gave me the final staw to break through the direction for us to finally get free access (they change only the minimum they can get away with). And regarding the two databases, yet once it is unnecessary and maybe now I can get management to bite the bullit and we can get it changed. Thank you for your understanding and Java would be a solution, but it is a solution for a problem that should not be a problem.

Thanks to all who responded.
