Connecting two routers WRT54G2 to extend the signal

I have available two routers wireless broadband Linksys G (WRT54G2), given to me by a family member. We use one of the routers by itself for some time, but have no adequate signal throughout our House. I decided it would be easier to design the floor plan of the House for you to see his situation compared with the rest of the House on the walls that do not. We have the HughesNet satellite internet which is on the roof just about the location of the modem and router at the bottom right of the image.

What do you think would be the best location of the main router? I read it would be more centrally located, because the signal travels horizontally and vertically. I just bought a 100' Ethernet cable being the only one that we had what the HughesNet Installer provided us with which is about 4'. I initially thought I would be the cable from main router to the basement where the second router is placed since the signal there is about 1 in 3 bars on my iPhone. The signal on the floor in the ranges of the main room (room at the top in the middle of the image) of 3-5 off 5 bars on my laptop.

I wanted to just put a post sooner rather than later to see what your views were on the location of the main router and I have to increase the signal.

Let me know if you have any questions to a better response.

I have updated the firmware on the main router.

If you want to configure the router as an access point 2 then the connection will be LAN to LAN which means the LAN port of the router port main o the 2nd router's LAN... But before you connect to the main router.

You should first connect the 2nd router to your laptop, go to the configuration page. Configure wireless settings it is firstly, ethier you set up another name and password is all up to you. Then change the IP address to a number of 192.168.1.x(any fera l'affaire) and disable DHCP... then after that connect to the main router.

  • connecting two routers, different ISP

I have a BEFSR41 on Charter broadband, to 20 MB, and a WRT54GL connected to AT & T DSL at 1.5 MB.  I would like the AT & T DSL to be my "rescue" if my broadband fails; but here they are on the same network, so that I can connect as and share resources.  Is it possible to do this with my current gear?  I don't want to slow down broadband connections and would love to be able to choose which network, if necessary.  (Is this bridge?)

It is not possible. Those are mainstream devices and do not support failover router. The best you can do is to configure two routers to work independently with their internet connection. That power to one of them. If you need pass, you have to rewire and switch on the other router. I think that there is no other alternative...

  • Motorcycle G How can extend the signal of text

When I get a signal for a coming text, it gives only a short warning.

Is there a way to extend the warning sign?

As when you set the alarm, it shuts down until you stop

Personally, I think it should be this way that SMS are not guaranteed delivery. They may fail in the middle and the sender and the receiver cannot ever - if something is important, someone should make a phone call. Then both parties know that the message has been received (assuming that no voicemail).

If you want more, then check out the text 3rd party programs and see if they will alert up to stop. If you get a lot of text messages, this could be a nightmare.

  • I can read two-channel USB-6008 using THE Signal Express?

    Hello world!!

Is possible to read the two analog inputs at the same time?

Example: Using Signal Express, I need to read the (channel 0) analog input and analog input (channel 1) at the same time.

I try this but, the signal on purpose gives me an error message saying that I can't read several channels at the same time using the USB-6008.

    Is this true?

  • Help! Connecting two routers

Router 1: I have a router WRT120N wireless connected to the Internet.  There 192.168.1.1 IP address and DHCP is enabled with the address 192.168.1.100 range upward.

Router 2: I have a WRT310N router connected to the local network via the LAN port to the ethernet jack in the wall (not the WAN/Internet port).  It has IP 192.168.1.2 and DHCP is DISABLED.

All of the devices on my network can see them.  Connect devices to the Router 1 can see the devices connected to Router 2.

The problem is, devices connected to Router 2 cannot access the Internet.  I checked the clients that connect to Router 2 receive the same addresses DNS and the same gateway 192.168.1.1 that clients connected to the Router 1.  But for some router reason 2 does not know how to Internet traffic out through Router 1 router?

I tried to plug the LAN cable into the Internet/WAN router port devices on Router 2 then 2 but do not see devices on Router 1.

I have seen discussions on setting up the router on its own subnet 2: 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.2 but then so-called peripherals on Router 2 still will not be able to see devices on Router 1.

I'm guessing that Router 2 cannot access the Internet because it is by default configured to send Internet traffic to the Internet, no t port LAN port.

Any suggestions on how to set it up so that all devices on both routers to consult each other and 2 router devices can access the Internet is greatly appreciated.

SOLVED.  NAT has been disabled on the Router 1 and making a difference turning.

  • Connecting two routers via a static route

I have a relatively simple configuration involving a Wireless-N Router and a wireless-B router (several years).  The N wireless router is connected to the internet (via DSL modem) and accepts several DHCP clients without problem.  Wireless - b router is connected to the Wireless-N router.  To do this, I connected the WAN port on the router wireless - b to a port on the router Wireless N ethernet (did not use the uplink). I have a PC connected to the router wireless - b, so I want him to be able to hit the internet, but also be accessible to DHCP clients on the Wireless N router.  The PC connects to the internet successfully, but it does not find clients on the network supported by the Wireless-N router.  It's about my setup:

    B 192.168.55.1 wireless router (LAN) 192.168.56.102 (WAN)

    PC 192.168.55.10 (active dhcp)

    Wireless N 192.168.56.1 (LAN) x.x.x.x (internet)

    (several clients dhcp... 192.168.56.100...)

I've added a static route in the hope that a computer on the network of the Wireless N router would be able to hit the PC, but nothing helped. I've added a static route as such, on the Wireless-N router, which was the only way that that would enable the web interface:

    Destination LAN 192.168.55.0

    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    Gateway 192.168.56.102

I tried to place the router without wireless - B gateway mode, then router and changed mode, then return.  I can connect to the web interface of the router wireless - b from the PC, and I can connect to the internet from the PC.  Also, the PC is able to reach customers on Wireless N, but the reverse is not true, i.e. clients on Wireless N can't find clients on the wireless - B network. Also, I turned on the port forwarding on the router wireless - B so that it points to the PC, in the hope he would lead all traffic to the PC, but still cannot access PC.  How to configure both routers (or both set up as access point?) so that clients on the Wireless N Router can talk to customers on the wireless router - B?  For now, all customers are on DHCP, but finally, I would like to create static entries for at least two or three of them.

    Thanks in advance

Are Linksys routers teas? If so what model is router B? It may not supported for a DHCP client port forwarding. Even if you can get the port forwarding to work for a client on router B, it will not work for several clients.

In addition, if you have the option in router B, disable the SPI Firewall. It is the cause of the problem, in my opinion. If you do this, you should port forward.

Is there a reason that you connect the routers via the WAN port on the router B? You could uplink using an ethernet port on the B to an ethernet port on the N and avoid all this... You can always configure router B as a point of wireless access for specific customers.

  • Connect two routers wireless from a modem, in two separate buildings

I'm new here, not completely incompitant and certainly not to this day with all the jargon, please make a simple answer.  I need to install 1 wireless router in a building where I recently installed the clients of satellite internet system.  You will also need to come from this internet connection to another building from about 100 feet away, where I will install a second wireless router.  The routers I bought are "N" and exactly the same thing.

In my mind, I could come of the modem, to the first wireless router, creating the network in this building.  Detach from one of the ethernet ports on the back of this router with a Cat5 goes out of the building, the second building, where I would connect the Cat5 into the wan port on the wireless router second creation of the network for the second building.

Not sure if it will work.  Don't know about bridging.  Please keep it simple.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Me

You don't want to connect to the internet port of the second router. Instead do it this way.

With this configuration if use identical SSID and wireless security settings you can even create a mobile wireless network, which is a wireless client can move the wireless AP to another (assuming that there is of course an overlapping coverage).

  • Want to connect two routers in series, both are from Dlink but different models.

Hi all, I just moved into a new place here it was very impossible to get the network the current router wireless, so I ran an Ethernet (cat 5e) cable out of reach (i.e. many sites say the maximum range is about 328 feet (100 meters), I ran about 400 feet), but works fine when I connect the Ethernet cable directly to my laptop , but when I tried to connect the Ethernet cable to the router from the same company but a different model. First router is directly connected to the modem and it is Dlink 628 and the second who I am trying to connect is Dlink 601. One end of the cable is connected to the router first in a LAN port and the Internet port on the second router.

Now the problem is my laptop connects to the first router cable and works fine and also connection to the second router, but I couldn't access the Internet. what I would do.

    Please help and thank you.

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

You don't want to use the second router as a router, but as an access point. Disable DHCP on the second router. See the Web of D-Link tech site or the manual on how to do it. Make sure that the second router has an IP address outside the range of the DHCP of the router first, but on the same subnet. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Need to "bind" the two routers

Hi guys, I need advice here.

I just bought a new TV and a new DVD which can access the Internet for interactive stuff. But for this, I need a key specific wireless by the manufacturer or a LAN connection. I don't want to buy the key wireless, but I want to use the LAN connections (TV 1) and 1 for the DVD. Unfortunaly, I don't want a cable everywhere in my house just to tie these new devices to the Internet.

Since I have two wireless routers, I wondered if I could 'Wireless' bind my routers to save cable. All the 'ordinary' stuff will still be connected to my main router.

Here is what I intend to do:
Connect my modem to my main router (WRT610N v2).
Wireless connect my secondary router (WRT54G v3) to my main router (WRT610N v2). [this is where I need help]
Connect both TV and DVD by wire to my secondary router.

I hope you can help me with this...

    Thank you guys!

Sorry, you can not connect two routers wireless with Linksys firmware.  You must use a wire to two routers in cascade.  However, it is 3rd firmware in party that will allow, DD - WRT.  Search the Web and see if it will work for you.

  • Could use a simple tutorial on speed c. the intensity of the signal

I have been struggling with a problem wireless for a few years now.  We have added a room to the patio at home and spend some time especially in the winter.  Throughout the House, it is the only place where it is difficult to get and maintain a connection.

I have some knowledge of basic home wireless (how to configure the router, etc.) and did basic things like change the channel.

My most recent move was to install N.  I now try a WRT610N and will also try an Extender (WRE54G).

I'll do some tests in three places in the House: one in the patio room, one in place, we now sit to connect and one right next to the router.  My thought was to record that the two speed and strength of the signal, but I realized that I'm not sure of the difference and who I am looking to improve.

A test last night in the patio room showed several unsuccessful attempts to connect.  Looked like to the signal strength was weak and the speed was 7mbps.  It is a N adapter.

This morning at the place, we are now sitting to connect, I was getting very good resistance and it varied between 29 and 59 Mbit/s.

I did a quick check of my speed of cable (via CNET utility) that showed slightly more than 1.5 Mbps (if I read things).

If anyone has some thoughts on how to test it to determine the best solution, I would appreciate it.

BTW, I guess there is no N-extender available (i.e. WRE54G is).

    Thank you

    LIV

gmd024 is right. Well well with router WRT610N WRE54G will not work. If you want to work on your patio room wireless, then you can think WAP4410N, you define WAP4410N as in a Repeater Mode, so it can work as an amplifier and your computer in the room from Partio will be able to go online wireless...

Otherwise, you can run an Ethernet cable from your main router at the room Partio.

  • want dv6-7214 will connect without Wireless - N, even with the replacement of the wifi card.

Two routers, linksys e3000 and dlink dap1522, both running only thread-802 n wap2 personal

Diagnostic HP online support a wireless card problem, sent a replacement wireless card.

Not installed, no improvement. Same behavior.

Two dv6 wireless cards will connect two routers if G 802 eneables. Blutooth also works.

All hp and windows updates installed (before all this and checked again after the new card installed).

System always runs from as main player c. HP 750 g drive msata ssd drive as 2nd.

    (but probably not relevant,?)

System for 2 weeks, just the windows 8 and a couple of installed items.

It works for EVERYONE on the Envy DV6-7000 series with windows 8?

Windows 8 makes * beep * almost impossible to see how an adapter connects.

You must go to the file Explorer, network properties, click the wi - fi connection,

and look at the speed of connection. If its 54 Mbps, its G connection protocol.

You can also configure the router on one N, see if it can connect to all.

I just two bad wireless cards in a row, or am I missing something?

    If it still works.

    Thanks for your time.

First of all, thank you for the Nice fellow who took the time to answer.

After several hours with HP support, we have reloaded windows as a last resort.

This fixed the problem of wireless-N with the ralink wireless card.

I have created the restore point, applied updates (windows update) via the hp support assistant.

Eventially has all the recommended updates and ended with several update option.

    Make a restore point

Load the update of Microsoft as an option for ralink (975 k no id #), he again DEFEATED Wireless-n.

    Thank you MesS!

Once loaded, it shows in the history of the update, but has no way to uninstall it.

Also, no way to uninstall from the Programs window.

Fortunately, I had a restore point.
