Do you mean that you HAVE downloaded the driver from the Brother website or ask you if you have TO download the driver?

Yes, you need to download the driver (because I assume that you don't have a CD for the Netbook player and so cannot use the CD that came with your printer).

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/DLF/DLF/000000/004400/dlf004455.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfcj265w_all&type2=1&OS=7&flang=8&dlid=dlf004455

This printer is responsible for integrated wireless network, so it is unclear what you mean when you write that you set up wireless "for a desktop Dell Windows 7 operating."  Usually, we use a network printer is NOT connect directly to a computer, but to allow the printer to connect directly to the network, either through an Ethernet cable to the router, or a wireless connection to the router.

If your printer works on the Windows 7 computer WITHOUT being connected using a USB cable, you have things correctly.  And, if the printer is not directly connected to the Win 7 computer, there is no need to configure sharing the printer on this computer, and you should not do.  'Sharing' in the sense of network Windows means sharing a resource that "belongs" to a computer, such as files on the hard disk of the computer, or a printer attached to the computer via USB or parallel port.

Just download the software package for the Netbook and follow the instructions on the download page, linked above.

You'll need is a small wireless travel router.  TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N Nano router or other router of trip is all you need.  The WR702N is available on eBay or Amazon for only $21.00, that's right, only $ 21.

This device does not support the authentication of company systems because it cannot meet any username and password prompts these system as your computer can.  However, it will connect to a standard WPA SSID and your computer, but if you receive a browser for other questions page redirect, it won't work.

It's a small powerful travel router which built in 5 modes of operation (more than your home router can do):

    1. AP mode
    2. Client mode
    3. Repeater mode
    4. Router mode
    5. Bridge mode

The TP-WR702N information is found here:

I won't go into the details on how to configure these modes in the TP Link router Nano as the manual does a great job.  One thing you must remember is that you must assign a static IP address on your wired Ethernet connection of computers to access the Web interface internal of the Nano.  The Nano is configured with an Ethernet cable at any time.  It's security that the router that has DHCP disabled so if you connect to a network, you won't crash it with an IP address conflict.  The Nano is powered by a USB cable and comes with a USB AC adapter too.

The IP address of the Nano is default 192.168.0.254.  Set your computers Ethernet Port, adapter not wireless, a static IP 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0 DNS address.  You have to find a way to do it yourself, but it is explained in the manual and on the web for the operating system of your computer.

This leaves your wired Ethernet connection to a static IP address and your adapter wireless DHCP.  Don't forget to put your wired to DHCP if you need to use it later for a wired connection.  Connect the Ethernet cable from your computer to the router Nano.

Set up your browser by going to 192.168.0.254 (Nano IP address) in the address bar and you'll get the username and password login screen.  The default username and password is admin/admin, you can change it if necessary.

    Set the Nano bridged mode:

Other modes will be mentioned later but for now; Bridge mode will serve as this isolates and creates your own SSID private the hotel/motel/dorm room open wireless network SSID.  In Bridge Mode you entrance and connect to the Rangoon SSID (paraphrasing) AND set up your own small network with your own SSID and password.  Your SSID will be separated and protected through WPA2-AES security that you set up.   You will be able to go online normally fine, but all of your devices will now connect to your private SSID.

    Example:

Hotel SSID: HILTON Hotel Paraphrase and password: GUEST

Nano SSID: MYNETWORK Nano Paraphrase/password: HP5514

With this information, the rest is easy.  You set your SSID private and password first, they you must find and connect to the SSID and password hotels.  Simply click on the SURVEY button and a list of all available networks will be displayed along with their MAC addresses.  Find the network SSID, you want to connect (bridge) too and click on "connect".  Information is entered automatically.  I suggest that you also edit your channel wireless on a fixed channel as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto '.

Save your settings and you will be told to restart the router.  Follow the instructions and always restart the router after any changes take effect.  This Nano restarts in 20 seconds approximately.

Now on your computer when you scan available networks, you will see MYNETWORK.  Connect your computer to the SSID and enter your HP5514 password and you're on!  Start surfing or something else.

Now, what about your printer?  The printer must be set to DHCP and assuming that you have a printer wireless with front panel:

    1. Go to (Assistant) wireless configuration screen.
    2. Search for available networks.
    3. Select: MYNETWORK
    4. Enter your password: HP5514
    5. To connect!

In about 15 seconds, you're connected!   Oh, guess what?  The Nano has a WAN/LAN port and in Bridge mode, it is a LAN port that is connected to your network too!  Then plug into a printer/computer Ethernet cable, if you wish.

Your printer will work as usual with no change at all.  I set up in my house to test and it connected perfectly to my HP5514 wireless printer.  All the tools, diagnostics, printer functions, alerts of ink were normal.

    You're done!

The bottom can be used anywhere to create a local private network so that you and others can use your printer.

Now, what about the changes?  If at home, you can use the Nano in Repeater mode to connect to your own network and extend the reach of all devices.  Even as the Bridge mode, but you're on your network using your SSID and the word normal, so everyone can use the printer.

Don't worry what you heard with speed of execution of a router in Repeater Mode.  Most routers House when running in wireless Repeater mode should be set to no encryption or WEP only.  Here max speed is 54 Mbps.  This Nano turns at full speed of 150 Mbps in these modes, using the highest security WPA2-AES (personal).

Remember that the size is small, so it's good to perhaps more than 50 feet.  HD video streaming was impeccable and surf watch video at the same time was perfect.

I hope this help you when business or vacation.  Some hotels charge for EACH device connection.  With the implementation above, it takes only a charge for multiple devices, such as cell phones, iPads, light fires, computers or anything else you want to connect.

EDIT - do not forget that this Nano device has an Ethernet connection that once configured, you can use to connect a wired computer or wired Ethernet printer.  It is a good radio your printer wireless doesn't have to convert a wired Ethernet wireless printer or if you want your printer to support greater security WPA2 wireless.

    Have fun!

  • How to connect a wireless printer

When I got a desktop running windows XP computer, I was able to access the printer connected to the it from my laptop running windows vista wireless.  I now have the printer connected to a desktop running windows 7.  How to set up one or two computers so that I can use the printer remotely from the laptop?

Moved from Vista to install, upgrade and activate Forum

Assuming that both the Vista laptop and the Windows 7 Desktop are connected to the same router (no matter if they are connected to the router with an Ethernet cable or wireless), then see--> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/networking-home-computers-running-different-windows#networking-home-computers-running-different-windows=windows-7

After that you have the network configured properly, share a file on Windows 7 computer and confirm that you can access it from the Vista laptop.  Do the same thing in the other direction.

Once you have confirmed to work properly between computers to share files, follow these steps:

On the Vista laptop, go to control panel > printers, right click on the printer icon and select 'delete '.

    On the Windows 7 desktop.

    1. Click the button start , and then click devices and printers.
    2. Right-click the printer you want to share, then click on printer properties.

    3. Click the sharing tab, select the share this printer check and then click OK.

Back on the Vista laptop, go back to the control panel > printers and follow the steps here, starting with step 3--> http://windows.about.com/od/networkconnect/f/vista_XP_print.htm

  • using an aircard from verizon for internet connection card, can't connect to wireless printer

I have tried evreything, and I can not connect wireless HP photosmart printer and my computer together.  He told me I should use a wifi wireless connection, the man at the store that I bought the printer from told me that the aircard card will also work to connect, HELP

Yes, a router just stand by and connect your computer and your wireless printer.  So, because of this very basic need, you can get with the basic model.  Here are some tips:

    1 802.11 g, 2.4 GHz is fine.

    2. you don't need a USB port.

3 stick with brands like Cisco/Linksys or Netgear.

    4. search for the models on sale at Amazon, Wal-Mart or BestBuy - you should be able to find one for less than $40.

  • Unable to connect a wireless printer with laptop computer since the reset wireless router

I have a wireless HP C4580 printer that connects to my Acer Aspire laptop using windows 7. The two have worked together very well for months.  My wireless router stopped working a few days ago, so I had to unplug the device to make it work again is it.  But since then, I can't get my lap top to communicate with the printer now.
I went all the problem of shooting and insured the printer is on line and set it as default printer. I even did a system restore, as suggested in the troubleshooting
With the help of the program are the two messages that I get now troubleshooting
1 that the C4500 series can be contacted via the network (this is the message that I had before the restoration also)
2 the C4500 series is not shared with the homegroup

All the tips are greatly appreciated in progressive simple language as possible as I am a bit useless with computers

I assume that the printer is all first directly connected on the router, then the laptop?  Access the router and make sure that the printer is listed as a "wireless client" connection  If this isn't the case, you should probably restore the wireless "link" between the printer and the router then the printer should work.

  • Connectivity to wireless printer

I'm in the Mac environment more recent and running on the wireless network.  I have problems with my 200 Color LaserJet MFP that whenever I have print something, the printer shows "offline".  I have to restart the printer to resolve the issue, then my queue prints as it should.  Things work very well to begin with... but I have the printer 6 months (not heavy volume) and now this happens whenever I have print something.

    All solutions?

    Hi epbarnett70,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you have a problem with the printer showing "offline." Please make sure you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a bar/power strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

I have also found a document dealing wth a only printer keeps not a wireless connection.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Thanks for your time.

    See you soon,.

  • Unable to connect to wireless networks more. ("Windows could not connect to (SSID)")

    Hello!

Something very strange is happening with my laptop (dv6-3060ee). Up to this day at noon, everything worked well, including the wireless network. So, I set my computer to Hibernate and came to the House of my parents. As I turn it on and try to connect to the wireless here, I can't. I get this error "Windows could not connect to (name of the network).

I'm on W7 Home Premium 64-bit and the card wireless in an Atheros 9285 b/g/n (model number can be a problem, I have it does not properly check).

    Things to consider:

-I don't know that this is not a router problem or hardware WiFi card because:

    1. I can connect to the router and get internet access on my phone and with the other computer normally.

    2. on the laptop, I can not connect to the network without wire inside W7, BUT with HP QuickWeb (this system of Opertaing before loading windows), I can normally connect to the network and access to internet.

-Have you ever tried, without success:

1 reinstall the driver for the wireless card / Unistalling the driver and install it again

    2. change the encryption on the router. (Even with no encryption I can't connect)

    3. of course, restarting the computer, turn off/on of the network card, reset the router

So, I'm sure it's a problem with Windows. I did some research here and in other places and other people seem to have the same problem, but I couldn't find any solution.

I didn't install any software today which could cause conflicts.

So, can someone help me, please?

    Thank you

Thank you for your help, but I'd already sorted.

The problem was really the driver, an update had been installed by the HP update program and it makes the device stop working. This problematic driver was March, I can't remember the version number.

I went to the Device Manager and pressed on "Roll Back Driver". Windows restored to an October/2009 driver, 8.0.0.238 version number, and now it works as it should.

  • I can't connect my fax/printer to my Windows 7 computer completely. Everyone says "its so easy" why I have so much trouble?

I don't know how to connect my printer to my computer.

    Hello

It is difficult to help you as you say not what kind of printer you have and if the printer is Compatible with Windows 7.

Here is a video from Microsoft on how to install a printer for Windows 7:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/install-a-printer

And it's good advice from Microsoft at this link:

"There are several ways to connect a printer to your computer. An option that you choose depends on the device itself, and whether you're at home or at the office.

Always consult the documentation that came with your model for specific instructions. »

In other words, use the Information Documents that came with the printer, or ask the manufacturer of the printer to help or post in the Support Forums.

This Microsoft Information also applies to Windows 7:
