  I'm trying to set up a connection to a database that uses a service name instead of a SID (see below for entry TNSNAMES. It gets an ORA-12505 error because the listener knows no SID given in connect descriptor. Used by the client connect descriptor was:

  My understanding is that the JDBC url for the name of the service must use a "/" instead of a ":" to separate the name of the service port. The dialog box to create the connection in SQL Developer has radio buttons to choose between SID and the name of the Service, so it can generate the appropriate url. The wizard for the Eclipse plugin does not have this option and the plugin always uses a ': ' as the separator.

  This looks like an oversight on Oracle DB tools not supported in JDBC connections using service DB names. We will examine this issue in our next release which is towards the end of September thanks for your comments!

However, the properties of the control ring do not seem to be accessible from the VI that uses the XControl, and none of the XControl General properties seem to be accessible from the front VI in the XControl.
