Consider purchase of Wacom Cintiq 27 HD Touch - Questions about the tactile feature in Photoshop and Lightroom

I'm considering buying a 27 HD Touch of Wacom Cintiq monitor. I have a few questions about the two programs Adobe and their use of the 'touch' feature - Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5.7 running on Windows 7.

1 problems related to touch a feature in Lightroom and Photoshop CS6 and 5 resolved that you see on the forums of Wacom a year ago?

2. If so, is there sufficient value gained through the tactile feature in Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 to justify the $500 price difference between the Cintiq 27 HD vs Touch HD? (I realize that this is a subjective question based on the abundance of its cash).

3. I intend to stay with CS6 as long as possible to avoid a monthly subscription, BUT I wonder if buy the Touch HD can provide additional key features in future releases of these products that do not exist currently. (It is a pie in the kind of sky in question).

Thank you!

Kent

Support for Photoshop Touch is added by CC 2014.2.2.  However as the Pro Intuos Wacom tablets with touch can be used with earlier versions of Photoshop and the Wacom Tablets Configurator can custom features can be used with Photoshop touch tablets.  I use LR but I don't know that the same thing would be true for her. You can configure the setting for many applications. The device driver knows which application its interfacing with and uses the parameter set for each...

I have disable most of touch when using Photoshop.  The main reason why I have a Tablet is Photoshop Brush tools. Like Eraser, clone stamp, etc, nothing is better then a pen when it come to create the layer mask.  For most programs, I always use a mouse and I use the keyboard, the mouse and the pen with Photoshop...

I never wanted a Cintig I do not have my hand between my eyes and the work. I'm not an artist.

I just bought a new Intuos Wacom Pro 5 and I am trying to configure shortcuts so that my workflow will be more effective, but when I put my stylus to pan/scroll and use it in Photoshop CC 2015, it lag/stutters a little. When I manually select the hand tool (which is supposed to do the exact same thing as the command on my pen) and use in Photoshop it does lag at all. Everyone knows about this problem?

[Left the forum Cloud/Installer generic for program specific forum... MOD]

I don't use CC 2015 there too many questions. However, I just test cc 2015 with my Wacom Intuos Pro and don't have your problem. I have my Pen down toggle switch together space to switch to the hand tool. When I press it I can pan the image smoothly and without any lag. With CC 2015 if I quick pan out from the coast to a stop well. My workstation is running Windows 10.

  • Question about the OS on X 1 carbon Touch

    Hi guys,.

I seriously thinking about moving my X 61 5 years to the new X 1. However, I have some doubts about Win8 Pro (problem of compatibility, I do not know if some of my old programs scientists would be happy to win 8), which is currently the only option on X 1 carbon touch. Can I downgrade it to professional Win7 myself after I get the computer with the so-called "downgrade rights"? Can I put this back to Win8 Pro when I think is correct (and take advantage of the touch screen)?

In fact, I can use my USB key to install Win 7 Enterprise, and I can turn it on using the product provided by my University ID. But I wonder if I can reinstall Win8 Pro and keep all my files and settings later. The installation of Win 7 will scan the victory 8 Pro preinstalled on the HARD drive?

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Thank you very much!

Here are some answers, and they do not have something to do with the license.

    1. If you have 8 Windows media, you can reinstall Windows 8 at any time.  The activation key is burnt in the implementation of the BIOS/UEFI and it will be detected and used by the installer of Windows 8.

    2. probably Windows 7 will work fine, but frankly, you might as well try first Windows 8 and test your applications to see if they do turn.

    3. as for one of you to the last question, if you try to install Windows 7, it will most likely ruin the existing settings installation and startup of Windows 8.  Which includes the recovery partition.  Great care must be taken to implement another OS in a mode dual boot.  If I really wanted to go this route, I'd probably install Windows 7 in a way "boot from VHD. Probably, which would preserve the existing environment and the walls.

Whatever you do, make a backup of the work environment before you start down one of these paths.  See http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT076024 or buy a good product like Acronis True Image Home 2013 for the backup drive.

  • Wacom cintiq 24hd works with windows 8?

    Hello!

I want to buy the Wacom cintiq 24hd (no touch). I read a bit around the various sites, but I am not able to see if it works with windows 8 or not. I need to know this, I can be sure, that I can use it with photoshop. I hope that you are willing to help me on this!

    -Karen

Wacom Cintiq 24HD own page specifically States Windows 8 as one of the operating systems that work with it. (It's down; click to enlarge the specs).

  • Flash (is it for me?), Wacom Cintiq 22HD and Mac Mini

I have Flash as part of master CS6, that I bought mainly for InDesign, Photoshop, and first, but I have yet to open Flash. I hope someone here can save me time advised me if Flash is suitable for my purposes. I'm not a professional, just a passionate amateur, but I don't want to use software quality and the equipment to do the best job that I can.

Answers to a previous post in the Illustrator forum (Re: Animation - is Illustrator should I use?) suggested I try Flash.

    Background

I use first to convert my audio-visual presentations to the HD format. In the 1980s, I was just in slideshows of three screens. As part of the transformation, I will be the introduction of a small number of video clips (where my need to first) and also short animation sequences, probably 10 seconds maximum. The animation will be a friend of the artist who strives to expand his talents in the art of the computer. If I buy the computer (a Mac kind), a Cintiq, load the software appropriate and then he loan at Steve and him show how to use it, it will spend as much time as necessary for animation. We barter: happens to use a computer and Tablet for as long as he wants, I get animation.

A typical animation could involve Steve drawing of contours at appropriate intervals, over a background, and then having the software generate the in-between. Shading of the watercolor-style (i.e., non-type of filling, monotone color) would be added, probably manually for each image, unless the interpolation can manage competently watercolor-style shading. For some of Steve doodles on his iPad (simplified versions of what we are aiming for), check out http://www.mediafire.com/download/sj731c17co55g5w/Steve's_iPad_Work.zip

We're both in this new and recently spent an afternoon together watching videos Flash and the Cintiq. The combination looks to it will work for us, but I have a few questions that I hope that some of the experts on this forum can answer. A simple Yes or no can save me hours of reading documentation only to discover that something does not work as I want. I'll also include some questions about the Cintiq and Mac Mini in the event that a person who uses with Flash can provide answers. I live in a place where I have no access to these features before you buy. I have to buy "in the cold". So my distrust.

Please note: I'm not an artist, and Steve is not computer. If some of these questions may seem stupid enough for an experienced user of Flash/Cintiq.

    Question 1

Is Synfig Studio (as suggested at the end of my thread of Illustrator) something I should consider? Or Flash is a better bet?

    Question 2

Flash's vector tools that mimic a watercolor brush in Photoshop? Or is this not possible as a vector, and these effects must be the external Flash and then imported in the background (or other method)?

    Question 3

When a Flash movie is over, how is it exported, for example, to the Prime Minister? Do you export as h.264?

    Question 4

It is not clear for me and Steve after reading three Cintiq videos, how the Cintiq interfaces in Flash. The Cintiq knows it on Flash and appropriates some drawing tools automatically? Or you have to say Flash (or the Cintiq) that this button on the Cintiq now operates this tool in Flash?

    5 questions

Flash and Cintiq work well together - and easily?

    Question 6

Do I need a monitor to be able to use Flash with the Cintiq? Or maybe a Mac Mini is a suitable computer - with the Cintiq acting as monitor? Steve never use this configuration as a computer. It will handle the Cintiq as a canvas on which to draw and paint.

Thanks in advance for any response.

    Hi guy,

I thought I was the only integer which was old enough to have worked on the big screen multi-image slideshows!

Flash can be the right product for you and Steve. I use Flash with an Intuos 4 Tablet and it works fine. What you want to do is to search the Flash forums for Cintiq references. There may be some issues that affect your intended use, or it can function exactly as you wish. Important to work with any Wacom product is to make sure that you use the latest drivers for the Wacom product.

If you choose to use a mac mini, get a new one, one that can use a lot of memory, you will need.

You can export files Flash video in most any type of file and compression is installed on the computer. So, if you use a Mac, install Quicktime Pro and you should have everything you need.

I've never heard of or used Synfig Studio, so I can't comment on that.

Flash paint tools are different from Photoshop and more similar to Illustrator. You'll have all the flexibility of the Cintiq to control the effects of paint, it will take a little practice, but you should be able to get the effect you describe.

I hope this helps in your decision.

  • XPS 18 - touch screen in the BIOS?

    Hello world

Anyone know for certain if the touch screen on a tablet PC from Dell XPS 18 should work in the BIOS?

There are buttons in the touch interface and a tactile keyboard in the BIOS, Dell support seems to indicate that the touch screen probably would not work in the BIOS but there is no windows drivers.  I thought that it was strange to have one without the other, but it only would be not the first time the options were left in a tech design.

The tactile feature on the one we have here in the Office has stopped working and still does not work after that Dell has replaced the entire screen.  I'm hoping to make sure that we indeed have a hardware problem and not an obscure issue of Windows 8, but I don't know how to test it outside the Windows environment if it is not designed to function in the BIOS.

    Thank you.

I thought that I would like to boot in the BIOS and try out it for you. Drum roll please... Yes! Touch works very well on all the screens of the BIOS on my own.

  • Technical questions about X 1 carbon Touch base

Please forgive me, I'm still recovering after the shock and frustration generated by dealing with Lenovo Tech Support.

I recently received my X 1 carbon Touch and I have tried to understand some - I think - fundamental questions.

As you know, to win 8, Lenovo doesn't have a custom recovery solution / owner. However, there are a score of Lenovo recovery on the machine. I'm /assuming/ this, somehow, can be used through the default / built-in mechanisms of recovery Windows, but I want to know exactly how without necessarily experiencing myself with it.

In addition, the computer seems to be equipped with a mechanism of alternative stand-by, fast recovery called Intel or something like that. It is enabled in the BIOS and apparently makes use of a hidden partition of ~ 8 GB on the SSD. However, I find no indication of this mechanism working. There are no settings that I could find in Windows. I changed the BIOS to 'Immediately' setting in order to test the functionality, but put the computer to sleep does not seem to generate behavior that is somehow different from regular sleep.

In any case, I would like advice or information on my questions above. I understand works the thing of recovery fast in order to decide if I want to recover the partition or not. I would also like to know my options I should never need re - install the delivered factory OS without actually crossed the steps. I would also if someone could tell me the best way to get support from Lenovo.

/ * I called Lenovo technical support with these issues. The person sponsor and those to whom I then was sent to had no idea what I was talking about. They had difficulty understanding terms like partition, standby, sleep, resume, and even software/hardware and implementation. It was suggested that my computer may be Intel and Lenovo not... They seemed to really come from an age of the computer. I asked to speak with someone who would have some basics of the machine that Lenovo delivered to me. I find it reasonable. At that time, I was told to talk to a knowledgeable person, I have to pay a fee. Seriously?

    */

    elfstone,

To find out how to work the various Windows recovery methods, please see this Microsoft Web site:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-PC

The sole purpose of the recovery partition is to work with the "All delete and reinstall Windows" function of Windows 8.  If you have specific questions about the factory recovery that you can't get items from Microsoft, let me know.

Regarding the plan of hibernation from Intel, as you noted, it takes a partition dedicated to your SSD which cannot be used for other purposes.  The only parameter in Windows is inside the application of arrangements of Lenovo in the power section.  Lenovo calls this function "in waiting for 30 days.  The only thing you can do is it turn on or off.  Here's how works "waiting for 30 days:

    1. When you close the lid, or otherwise put the system into standby mode, the system of standby for 3 hours.

03:02 hours, the system will wake up and check things like not attached AC, wake-on-LAN not activated, USB device not attached, etc..  If conditions permit, the system will enter wakefulness of 30 days for example deep sleep.  If the system returns in normal mode to 'sleep'.

    3. deep sleep means that the content of the memory is written on the special hibernation on the SSD partition.  It is very similar to the traditional hibernation except what happens faster using methods of BIOS instead of Windows methods.  But this isn't anywhere near as fast as normal sleep/recovery.

    4. the system out of deep sleep when the cover is opened or when you press the power button.

You have found the BIOS settings, but in fact they are ignored when Lenovo settings (and package of dependence of the Lenovo parameters) are installed on the system.  I don't really know why this design choice has been made.

Personally, I don't see value in 30 days standby, not enough value to want to give up my expensive SSD 8 GB.  I exclusively use sleep/recovery.  The battery will last several days.  And if I'm going to be away from the computer for a long time, then I'll just stop it.
