  Have you created a Toshiba recovery disc at the beginning?

  I think that if you didn't use the recovery disc, then the question refers to the missing part of the driver or software

  But Satellite A300-08WB is not known to me what model number of the laptop is it?

  I have toshiba laptop Satellite A300, it had windows vista installed in this laptop, but I formatted and installed Windows 7 and since I installed this windows 7 my webcam is not working it gives an error "webcam driver open fail.please restart camera or computer" and even after doing this its does not work.

  And after the installation of this window, I think that the display setting is also out of order, I tried to install the drivers and sorftwares support toshiba but without success.

  My laptop broke down. When I turn on the laptop I get a screen black ask me to select either Startup Repair (does not work) or start Windows normally (does not work).

  I am then presented with the System Recovery Options (Startup Repair, System Restore, restore pc windows completely, command prompt, windows memory diagnostic tool, toshiba Recovery Wizard). No matter which option to choose, nothing works. I tried the Recovery Wizard, but he advises that I will lose all data.

  I can't afford to lose all my data because it will mean I lose as itunes and I won't be able to deauthorise computer.

  I also have a lot of photos and other important information.

  I have no backup discs (they were not provided when I bought the laptop).

  The recovery disc are not provided, because you create the recovery disks using the preinstalled software called creator of Toshiba drive back (I guess this is mentioned in the user manual)

  But it is the same procedure of recovery provided by Toshiba Wizard of recovery you can find, press F8.
  Both procedures (HARD disk or recovery disk recovery) would format the HARD drive.

  I think you should start Notepad using the Live CD. You can use Linux Live CD WinPE or (BartPE).
  Google for it

  These CD would boot a Windows or Linux environment and will have access to the files on the HARD drive.
  Then you could safe files on external media and then you can install Windows using HARD drive recovery.

  In my opinion, the internal keyboard is defective.

  I have a similar problem. I have laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 15 c.

  Until recently, the multimedia keys worked fine. I have assigned an exe file to the second to the left key and been happy to use the power button lights and the dimmer.exe, but a few days ago the drive key stopped turning lights and acts rather as a key to turn off/turn on the sound. I checked the SCT and the key is always associated with the dimmer.exe. I even tried to associate the key with another function, but it remains just mutes / restores the sound the sound.   As Garrett says you have to remove the old version first, restart, clean the system and then install the most recent drivers.

  I had a lot of problems with my Toshiba Satellite A300 for quite awhile. I had found the solution to one of the problems through this forum, but now the problem I am facing. I can t find the solution to the problem.

  When I press the power on button, the laptop just blinks (fan runs then shuts down, as he gets power pulse. sign satellite on the left side of the laptop flashes and the laptop stops, then the laptop itself tries to start, but this goes on and for a long time.) It finally boots (not really specific time when it starts up, sometimes after an hour, 2 hours or all day) and I can use. I tried to put the laptop in hibernate mood/sleep but no use, whenever I press the power on button, I face the same problem. Once it starts, it doesn t stop and works very well.

  I can't really understand what is the problem? Your answers are really appreciated. I really have a hard time with this laptop.

  I would like to install Windows XP on it (because of stability issues with Vista), but when I enter in the configuration of Windows XP, I get the message that Windows Setup did not find any HDD installed on this computer, even if the BIOS says there is one installed. Do I need a driver disk to install Windows XP on this machine?

  Help please... new Toshiba Satellite A300 - running XP Professional with atheros AR9281 (driver 7.6.0.200) wireless network adapter will not connect to the secure networks, WAP, but seems to be fine with the WEP and non secure networks?

  I can connect to my WAP secured network using LAN cable and also if I use an external Netgear wireless adapter, so the problem is probably with this adapter or driver. I updated the bios and tried update driver, but no luck. Current driver is (I believe) more up to date?

  You have these problems, because you didn t install WXP correctly. If you want to have many preinstalled WXP and use with full speed use the AHCI settings in the BIOS and load Windows XP Home edition with all SATA drivers.
  After having this laptop will run fast and you won't have problems BIOS update should not be done at all.

  Have you tried an external monitor to your laptop computer? It's interesting because if you can identify if this is related to the internal screen or graphics card.

  I had a similar problem on my laptop that the internal screen was black, only the outer one worked. The solution was replacing FL inverter or screen internal.
