Consolidation of virtual drive

Awhile back, we needed additional volumes on a guest and there was no space on the current LUN (A logic unit number). A new logic (MON B) unit number was created with the space required for everything for that person. The person who worked on the project just created the new logical drives on the LUN B, leaving the original files on LUNS A. I wanted that all consolidated on a single LUN. My Google searches did not anything that will help me to get this done. There is no other place with enough space to hold all this right now other than LUN B.

The wizard of migration for a data store migration and affecting the target LUN B will accomplish this? I get no error walking in the migration wizard, but didn't want to commit until I could find confirmation somewhere.

Hello

If you want to storage vMotion VM from a data store, you can. Similarly, it seems that you have some virtual disks LUNS B and some originals on MON. You should be able to choose from vMotion advanced options for your disks and select data warehouses you want to put on. Something like this blog post I'd like to suggest?

In this way, your virtual machine entirely will reside on MON B at the end of the move. Is that what you want?

Did you make the registry change that I sent you a private message?

So, I agree with your statement. These are certainly back up files. The question is; What is backup files?

Microsoft System Restore only deals with backup of critical system files and registration and records in a hidden folder that is not easily editable. In addition, you verified that this is not enabled for this player. So who is excluded.

Another possibility is that other Windows, such as Windows Backup service, creates these files. Backup Windows treats the user's choice of the files instead of just the files of backup system.

    Try the following steps.

    1. Click Start, type "backup and restore" and press ENTER.
    2. This will bring up the Windows backup window. It seems to be set up, or it asks you to configure for the first time?
    3. If it is flagged by the look on the left side and you should see an option "disable automatic schedule;" turn this option off. The backup will be not automatically, but you can always do it manually on this screen.
    4. Delete the file Moberdan_HP from the HP_Tools partition.
    5. Improperly editing the registry if you used it.
    6. Reboot the laptop and make sure that the problem is resolved.

  • FarStone Virtual Drive 12

I have this program installed on a computer running under Vista Home Premium and another computer running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.

I created 4 virtual drives on each machine and they all run very well.

The problem I have is on the Vista machine.

Whenever the computer reboots, the four programs are ejected from their records and I have to screw back them.  Everything goes well until the next reboot.

The program is responsible for keeping these programs inserted after restart or the computer stops.

I don't have this problem with Windows 7 computer.

I contacted FarStone about this, and they told me that their engineers are addressing this problem because they had other reports of this problem with Vista.  No other response since then.

If someone had this problem and found a solution?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I had exactly the same problem and did the same things you did.  The only thing I could come up with, is that there is a secret place in Vista where you can tell Vista NOT to eject these programs, and no one knows where this place is or not tell anyone.

I have since upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium and no longer have the problem.

That's why I'm convinced, it is a problem of Vista, and the only solution is to updrade to 7.

  • DVD player does not appear error - the driver may be corrupted or missing. Code 39, fix the driver installation fails, virtual drives don't work - same results if the material under tension

Original title: drive does not appear, difficulty he pilot installation fails, virtual drives don't work - same results if the material under tension

A few weeks ago, as my two DVD players (the two Samsung Lightscribe SH-S223Q of) disappeared after a repair installed, I did for the other problems (not sure if it was directly after installation because I don't notice it right away, but it was no doubt). In Device Manager, it gives the message:

"Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

I tried the Microsoft Fix It tool (Mats_Run.dvd.exe) that detects the problem and says "Install device driver" in a popup, but then he says "software device driver failed to installed. At the end it says under the issue, the "CD/DVD drive is not detected" and the status of Fix 'not set '. Note that, when I boot from another hard drive (with Vista 64 on it installed from the same DVD, just a new installation) disks appear very well. Also I can boot from the drive as well.

I can't do a repair installation, since it must initiate Windows, and I can't load the disc. I tried to update my BIOS but that has no effect.

Recently I actually moved this hard drive to another one, with another brand of hard drive and all the rest. Just like before, if I boot from another hard drive (this one with Windows 7), the drive unit-a Optiarc AD-7230 s - looks and works, and I can also boot from the drive at startup. But since the drive hard as I want to use, the drive does not appear. Fix it, etc. Device Manager gives the same messages as before.

I tried virtual drives - Daemon Tools Lite and Virtual Clonedrive. When I try to add virtual devices to help, nothing happens. The new drive will be displayed in the Manager of devices, but with the same error Code 39 as the real drive.

What are my options at this point? How can I get the drive to appear or to fix my copy of Windows?

I could solve this problem. I started in Ubuntu and deleted the existing cdrom.sys, cdrom.inf etc. files (as in Windows, they were protected and I couldn't delete them), then I copied the files from another installation of Vista I had on another hard drive. After having done that, I updated the drivers in device, disabled/enabled readers and readers management that presented themselves.

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge T310 with 4 disks hotswap (raid 6), and his running dangerously low on space...

Can I just buy 4 new larger discs and (one by one) replace the 'old'?

If I can expand the virtual drive or I have to create a second virtual disk with the new free space?

    Hello RobertQuinn,

Here's the way taken in charge to get extra space for your system.

    (1) get a backup of your data

    (2) remove the table

    (3) to re-create the table with the big readers

    (4) reinstall OS if have a BONE on the front table

    (5) to restore the backup data

Now, it is also a way not taken in CHARGE that you can do it as well & to do this as it is as follows:

    (1) get a backup of your data.

    (2) rebuild each disc large table.

    (3) after all rebuilt Delete array.

    (4) after the table has been deleted and then make a change

    (5) does NOT init the virtual disk

    (6) create new array with Available space

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Best practices for the configuration of virtual drive on NGC

    Hello

I have two C210 M2 Server with 6G of LSI MegaRAID 9261-8i card with 10 each 135 GB HDDs. When I tried the automatic selection of the RAID configuration, the system has created a virtual disk with RAID 6. My concern is that the best practice is to configure the virtual drive? Is - RAID 1 and RAID5 or all in a single drive with RAID6? Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Since you've decided to have the CPU on the server apps, voice applications have specified their recommendations here.

    http://docwiki.Cisco.com/wiki/Tested_Reference_Configurations_%28TRC%29

I think that your server C210 specifications might be corresponding TRC #1, where you need to have

RAID 1 - first two drives for VMware

RAID 5 - 8 hard drives within the data store for virtual machines (CUCM and CUC)

  • UCS C220 Virtual Drive configuration Error

  • ESXi data store on virtual drive

Client a BE7K servers (M4 UCS C-240), it came pre-installed with ESXi 5.5 and 4 virtual drives, each virtual drive is configured with RAID 5. Now, we need to install a UC application that requires RAID 10. We use not one of the data store for any guest operating system so our plan is to remove this DS and respective Virtual Drive, break this RAID and rebuild than RAID 10 is here the challenge how can we identify which Datastore, mapped with which virtual drive? My understanding is that ESXi does not map 1-1 (IE VD0 = DS1). If anyone can shed some light on to identify what would be really appreciated.

    Thank you.. !

    I hope it's a little more concise:

    Take the exit of

    ~ # esxcfg-scsidevs - m

    NAA.678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63:1/vmfs/devices/disks/naa. 678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63: 1 5777f3b3-7bd4c97a-4ba0-a0369f9400b4 0 datastore4

Then this match with the release of the list of esxcli storage base path:

    Unknown.vmhba1 - unknown.2:2 -naa.678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63

    UID: unknown.vmhba1 - unknown.2:2 - naa.678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63

    The Runtime name: vmhba1:C2:T2: L0

    Feature: naa.678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63

Full device name: Cisco's Local disk (naa.678da6e715d760101f0aa4a61d982f63)

    Adapter: vmhba1

    Channels: 2

    Target: 2

    LUN: 0

    ... snip

This must match your 3rd VD, since the target and VD #s start with 0.

It confirmed in the laboratory: see below

VD0 (1 virtual drive created) corresponds to T0... and VD3 corresponds to T3.

These figures are of course unique to each hba/controller if you want to ensure the vhba # and controller # (vmhba1 and C2 in my example) come from the device even when they match.

  • Cannot eject/unmount virtual drive

I use Windows 8 and I have gotten into a bit of a mess.  Download Windows PE for NovaBackup and has made using the ISO file.

I first tried to burn it to a CD, but it was too big.  If I remember correctly, I've then simply ejected the CD.
Later, I was able to mount the file downloaded on a virtual drive and got what I needed for the disk backup starts.
Now, I find myself with a virtual drive that I can't get rid of.  I think it's related to me trying to burn it on a CD, because the drive itself named CD (i) KB3AIK_EN player.  When I try to eject, I get a message that there is an error the disc is ejected.  I went into the Windows folder temporary Burn and tried to delete the file from there, but the error message said I couldn't because the file has been used by the system.
    Any ideas? Thank you.
    Jaime

    try to do the following:

    Open the Device Manager

Click the virtual driver, and then select the device

Go to Properties and clear the selected device

    Result

    Uninstalling the driver

If you want to permanently delete the uninstall option is the quickest way to solve the problem.

  • Problem with VMWare Tools and the virtual drive

    Hello

I installed the test version of "Workstation" and installed a windows 7 x 86 non-virtual DVD drive mapped, which is mounted on D:\.

Subsequently, I installed all Windowsupdates and after that I tried to install the VMWare Tools.

But every time I get the message that I should look on the 'virtual' drive on D:\.

But there is no virtual drive, it is my DVD of the hostsystem.

Is there a way to mount a virtual drive with tools or install them in another way?

    Thanks in advance

    Taldrit

    Hello

You can directly install the VMware tool configuration by copying the setting in the machine and manually install the same.

Try VMware on another machine tool in which you will get the installation... Copies on disk and then move it to your new VM and do a manual configuration.
