Constant extreme airport issues

IM really hoping someone has an idea of my problem.

My setup is a 6th GEN airport connected to the modem with an ethernet cable from one end of the House to the other linking to my extreme gen 4. It worked great for about a month. The 4th gen now has about once a week, connectivity problems that are set if I unplug ethernet services and plug it in again. Ive tried to turn everything down and back several times and it suits him for a few days. Then the same problem. I got the firmware, and my average idle speed. After two days, that it happened again. Ive also done resets hard on the extreme. I have 150mbps service and usually can get 80mbps out of this (5 ' of him sitting) with my macbook and iPhone 6 s. but lately, even when his work Im getting around 50mbps.

Another problem is that my mini retina iPad gets only on the 4th generation extreme 30mbps.

Someone has any ideas why have these issues? Or why my iPad gets these terrible compared to my iPhone and my macbook wifi speeds (2011)? Should I buy a new express or would I using the same technology?

A 4th Gen AirPort Extreme is not quite 5 years or as much as 6 + depending on where you bought the product originally.  Five years on average--is on the useful life of a router designed for home use, so it's maybe a factor here in your question.

I have 150mbps service and usually can get 80mbps this (5 ft of him sitting) with my macbook

This is another clue that the radio wireless and power have been heading downhill for a while.  I wouldn't be too concerned with speed on iPhone and iPad... they are always much slower than the Mac here.

If it were me, I would try a new AirPort Extreme... knowing that Apple offers a day 14 return priviildge for Exchange or refund. If the new AirPort Extreme is not much better in terms of performance, then you can return it.

Should I buy a new express or would I using the same technology?

I don't think you really want an AirPort Express. The Ethernet port is limited to 100 Mbps on the Express, then it would be the theoretical maximum speed wireless that it could never achieve.

Right now, I'm trying a new service of 300 Mbps of my ISP as a test.  I have an AirPort Extreme... about two years as the main router in the office and another AirPort Extreme... for 1 year at the other end of the House.  Wireless speeds are right at 300 Mbps + when I check. Ethernet speeds come at 320-330 Mbits/s or more.  But a new iPhone will be only about 80 Mbps and an iPad 2 years will be about 100.  Nature of the beast, with iOS devices.

  • Issue of flow extreme airport

I have a question about the real wireless transfer rate when I select 'Option - WIFI Fan' display displayed on my MacBook Air OS X 10.11.3.  I have a gen 6 Airport Extreme with current firmware supporting an AC 802.11 capable MacBook Air.  My screen has a 867 Mbps data transfer rate.  But when I transfer data over the link and run timing tests a few I'm lucky if I transfer data at half the speed displayed.  Is the speed displayed a theoretical speed or I can wait less?

    Thank you

The displayed speed is the maximum connection bandwidth available. It is theoretical and partially based on the value of Index of MCS of the actual connection between the client and the wireless access point. Given actual transfer rate or the rate is always lower.

  • Airport Extreme update issues 1.28.16

    Need help-

I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n second generation base station (the latest version of the utility is 6.3.1).  The base station works well when it is used with a MacBook Pro OSX 10.7.5 2008 (Mountain Lion) and a 2014 iPad running.  I am now introducing a new Macbook Pro into the network and need to update the Airport Extreme firmware.  Here is the message I get in the utility Airport:

"This version of AirPort utility requires this version of the firmware use AirPort Extreme 7.3.1 or later. AirPort Utility 5.6 update this base station. 5.6 airPort utility is available at the Airport Service and support. »

I've read through past posts on this update, that I understand that I must use a version 5.x of Airport utility to upgrade the firmware.  I tried to download AirPort Utility 5.6 on my older MacBook; This attempt failed.  I think I'm reading that I need an earlier version (10.5.x or 10.6.x) OS on the old MacBook to do the upgrade. What is my problem?

    Here are my questions:

    1. 1. How can I download Airport Utility 5.6 on my older MacBook who now runs OSX 10.7.5 and already has the Airport 6.3.1 utility on it?
    2. 2. If I update to firmware to 7.3.1 this will cause problems access to internet for my older MacBook?

    Thank you!

    1. How can I download Airport Utility 5.6 on my older MacBook who now runs OSX 10.7.5 and already has the Airport 6.3.1 utility on it?

Unfortunately, you can not.  You will need to use... or borrow for 20 minutes or so... a Mac running leopard (10.5.x) or operating system Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or a PC utility AirPort 5.6.1 for Windows installed on the device.

With this device, you can update the firmware on the AirPort Extreme.

    2. If I update to firmware to 7.3.1 this will cause problems access to internet for my older MacBook?

You cannot update the firmware 7.3.1... that is what is already on the AirPort Extreme.  You update the firmware to the current version of 7.6.4 as the AirPort 6.3.1 utility will read firmware from 7.6.1 or more.

Another option... If you live near an Apple Store... they could update the firmware for you... assuming they have an old Mac around what they use for testing, etc.

  • Airport express to extend wi - fi using the adapter but NOT extreme airport

    Hello

I am looking to buy an express airport in order to listen to music through my stereo and also create another network wireless upstairs in my house.

My question is, I currently have no apple down wireless router and I have connected to a line adapter with an adapter of the power line on the floor. If I connect the airport express base station to the adapter on the floor, I'll be able to create another network on the floor as well as the flow of my music, even if the router that comes from the connection is not apple router?

    Thank you

    Andy

If the floor of the Airport Express will be connected via the WAN port using a regular power adapter ethernet cable carrier online and will be in Bridged mode, you can create a wireless network to the floor. Not bridged mode, you can see double-NAT issues, which should be avoided.

  • Windows extreme airport 10 vs

Airport Extreme is compatible with Windows 10?

It depends on what you mean by "compatible".

If you have the current model of the 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme, then Windows cannot be used to initially set up and administer the AirPort Extreme.  You'll need a Mac or an iPhone/iPad for this service.  However, once the AirPort Extreme has been implemented, the PC must be able to connect to the wireless signal that provides AirPort Extreme.

If you have an older version of 'flat or square' of the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows has been installed on the PC, the PC could be used to initially set up and administer the AirPort Extreme.

  • Not find extreme airport in airport utility

I can't find the logo of my Airport extreme in the airport utility application, in Mac OS and iOS.

I have an airport express and Airport extreme, which linked together in the bridge. Airport extreme is the main router that connected from the internet with a modem. The Airport express from Airport extreme to my top floor. All internet works fine. However, I don't find the logo of my Airport extreme in the airport utility application, in both Mac OS and iOS.

    I need help from you.

Turn about your Airport Extreme for 15 seconds and then power back on. As soon as you see the green light, you should be able to see him for a minute or two in the Airport utility. In the affirmative, and see if you have Back to My Mac active. If so, disable it by removing all the e-mail addresses of the back section of my Mac. Then update your Airport Extreme. Work quickly.

Many have started having this problem within the last week, probably because Apple changed something in its servers CCMM. A real difficulty would come from Apple, but it should work if you currently have active CCMM.

  • AirPort Extreme AirPort Extreme extension causes a loss of the internet

I extend an existing AirPort Extreme of 5th generation (a year or so old) with a new one. When I connect a new one for the network and power, airport utility sees the two airports and asks me if I want to extend the existing one. I clicked on extend and every thing seems to be well - within the parameters, he said that the new airport will extend the existing wireless network. Unfortunately this seemed to cause my modem to lose its connection to the Internet. I have reset the modem a few times, but it wasn't until I disconnected and "forgot" to the new base station that I was able to retrieve internet. Previously, I had an airport model more old where I was trying to find a new one, but it had its own wireless network, which is kind of a pain. I would really like to have just a single network for both airports.  Is this possible or do I. To keep them separate?

Thank you for any help or advice.

If you spread by wireless, you can't have the extreme new plugged in by ethernet.

If you do not want to extend wired you don't use wireless extension... you use create a wireless network with the same SSID (name Apple Wireless speaks) and the same password.

    Please give us more information.

What is the brand and model of the main modem?

Is this also a router? How the most extreme main airport is connected to the network?

This mode is in there... router or gateway?

Please take a few screenshots of the existing configuration using airport utility to show how the current airport is the installation program. We can then tell you the right way to connect the new airport.

Just to be clear is the New Extreme a nine Gen6... or you want to say you have an another Gen5. The Gen6 is now more than 3 years on the market... No gen5 were therefore sold for 3 years.

Yesterday, Apple released updates firmware for routers from the airport. The yellow light flashes when an update is available.

Have you updated your AirPort Extreme Version 7.7.7?  If this is not the case, the flashing yellow light will remind you again in another day or two.

Open AirPort Utility.  If you see a button update, click it.

  • Interference extreme airport to another router... or not?

Hello. I installed my new Airport Extreme at home. It works very well. I have a new MacBook Pro then use ' 802. 11A ' on the 5 GHz band.

It is connected to the router which was provided by the telephone company. The router also provides Wifi (11 b/g/n) on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. I do not connect to those that I have no idea of the password (provided that booklet is not in English!).

Is this a possible conflict and router Wifi provided "interfere" or "slow down" my Airport Extreme signal?

Should I understand how trun off unused WiFi router? Is how important it?

    Thank you.

    Michael

I installed my new Airport Extreme at home. It works very well. I have a new MacBook Pro then use ' 802. 11A ' on the 5 GHz band.

Is it possible that you meant that the MacBook Pro uses 802.11 "ac"... not 802.11 'a'... on the 5 GHz band?  The reason we are asking is that 802.11 "a" is limited to only about 50 Mbps... While "ac" 802.11 can provide this speed 10 times or more.

Normally, a second router does not interfere with the signal from each other, but in some cases, this is possible. If you do not plan to use the wireless at all on the router provided by the telephone company, you can check with the people for their support on the service disabling wireless on the device.

  • The most extreme airport in roaming network.

I should create a WiFi for 50 people. Simultaneous connections number supports both the airport extreme, roving networked?

Specifications for Apple AirPort Extreme for say 50 users for each AirPort Extreme, so with 2 airports, it would be total 100 users.

Things would be really slow with 100 users, but 50 users should be OK with 2 airports.

  • Installation of Fios extreme airport

I have Verizon Fios now.  I saw that the use of the AirPort Extreme with the Fios router, it must be set in Bridge mode.  But then I read do not put it in Bridge mode.  Does anyone know the correct configuration? Thank you

To each question, there is a range of opinions...

I think that fill the AE is fine... You will find that some features are lost... and much earned.

It is always a... balancing act for a configuration simple and intuitive... bridge of EI.

FIOS may be impossible to bridge, and the best you can achieve puts EI in DMZ... which isn't easy to do and leaves the FIOS still works as a router without the public IP address... order to you will lose lose in this configuration.

  • Can not change the configuration extreme airport

Hello everyone, the community can maybe help me.

I am a long-time Apple guy and can usually solve my own problems, but this one left me speechless. I have an Airport Extreme ages of less than 1 year. I set up OK and used for the last year. Now, I want to change the configuration. Specifically I add a port to the front, but I also had this problem, try to change the MAC address access lists, changing the wireless channel, allowing access as a guest, and probably any other change in config I try.

Anyway, once I made the change, not restarting airport but then it fails to return to the top. The yellow light comes on and sometimes the utility Airport told me that he was unable to update the config. In this State I have to pull the plug to restart and once I did, the airport is back re-run without the changes I had made.

It doesn't matter if I use the Airport 6.3.6 on El Capitan utility or Airport utility on iOS 9.2. The result is always the same. No change, fails to return to the top.

I did a soft reset a hard reset and a factory reset. I've reconfigured from scratch (several times) and still can't seem to take a successful configuration change. I'm at the end of the ideas. I plan to return it because it's the year is February 2, but I don't want to go through the hassle if I can fix it myself or if it is a known problem that will not change with a change of equipment.

In any case, here is specific information on the version by any chance, anyone else had this problem or knows a fix:

    Airport Extreme 802.11ac (ME918LL/A)

    Mac OS X 10.11.2

    Airport Utility 6.3.6

    iOS 9.2

The actual configuration is crucial here.
