Contacts lost in Windows Fax and Scan

I have a file of contacts, but it is not visible in Windows Fax and Scan. How to bind Windows fax and Scan of my contacts?

What program your contacts take place in?  Contacts Windows is the default fax and scan value if Outlook is installed on the machine.  With Outlook installed, it becomes the default fax and scan uses Contacts application and some settings in Outlook can prevent his Contacts to appear.

  • Windows fax and scan without adding contact

I use Windows Fax and Scan to send a quick fax to someone.  In the dialog box "New Fax", you can enter a name of my address book Outlook or to a phone number.  I would like to enter a name and a number for someone who is not in the address book without having to create a contact for them in the address book.

The cover page editor allows me to insert the two {name} and {recipient Fax #}, so I expect to be able to enter this information when I send the fax.

    Thank you.

    JerryK

You do so by using a one-off Fax address as indicated in this article:

The names that you insert in the cover page editor cover fields in your address book to be filled in by the address book when you select a default contact.

  • Windows fax and scan only saves the first page

When I use the windows fax and scan pages to analyze. You can get an overview of all the multiple pages scanned, but what emailing or save you then cannot see the first page.

    Hello

If you're using a scanner with a charger of documents and Windows Fax and Scan, you can scan multiple pages into a single file of scanning to the TIFF (.tif) file format. For more information, see:

Scan a document or photo with Windows Fax and Scan

If you use Windows Fax and Scan and a flat bed scanner, you can scan multiple images to separate files probably. Not all scanners flat have this ability, so you may need to contact the manufacturer of the scanner to get a driver so that your scanner flat may offer this option.

  • Windows Fax and Scan do not connect to fax

Recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium. Trying to get Windows Fax and Scan to fax in my HP Officejet J4580 multifunction device. Install the HP drivers, printer and scanner work OK and fax device appears under devices and printers. With the device on and in Fax Setup, select 'Connect to a Fax Modem' generates an error: "an error has occurred. Please try the operation again later or contact your administrator. "It's strange because the fax device appears to be installed correctly and is recognized by Windows.

How can I get Windows Fax and Scan to recognize and connect to the fax?

Windows 7 set my printer and fax as separate devices (HP C6180 all-in-One) - should also ensure that the fax was NOT DESIGNATED as a PRINTER in the dropdown under printer properties - you can have the same problem in reverse...

  • Windows 7: Windows Fax and Scan - can't get it to automatic backup to a network

We use Windows Fax and Scan (Version 6.1 Build 7601: Service Pack 1)-this is the version included with our client for 32-bit Windows 7 Enterprise OS

I just installed a scanner in a sleep laboratory, scanner works perfectly. There are several sleep technicians that will connect to a computer with the scanner (so short of several user profiles) and patient scan RXs.  Problem is that sleep manager wants the scans to record automatically in a central location for any technology connects in their analyses will record in the same place as everyone else.

The key is the AUTOMATIC backup.

This is so the news of background - at the heart of the question... it seems a feature that offers Windows Fax and Scan does not work.

If you go in fax and scan, there is an option in the tools of-> Scan routing.  If you read on the functionality of its supposed to save AUTOMATICALLY in the network shown, its not to do so.

So I check the box 'Save in the network folder' (don't know the exact wording)

(I use xxx because I don't want to publicly share real location) \\xxx\xxxxx\xxxxx\Neuromuscular.

This is 100% valid and share name of work - used for years many people save to it... Windows Fax and Scan says "sharing network not valid."

If someone said just use \\server\share

OK I create a folder on my computer, we'll call it Computer1 and name sharefolder. I share and give "everyone" access read/write... sharing is \\Computer1\Sharefolder.

Plug in Windows Fax and Scan - it don't be complaint that it is a bad sharing more. So I think that a lot!

I scan a test page - this isn't automatic registration to \\computer1\sharefolder.  I can come here, but that defeats the whole point of the analysis of routing.

Sleep lab will be scanning hundreds of slips of Rx by day, management won't allow lost time by manual movement of the images to the save location.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Got to be honest I'm a little irritated right now because I think its Microsoft as announced a feature in one of their applications is not working.

    Thank you

  • Has anyone seen a fax USB modem that works with Windows Fax and Scan?

So far I'm 0 for 2.  PC Fax modems seem to be a lost art.  A few months ago, I tried a USB fax modem and tested the receipt of the fax.  The modem answers the phone, the fax sender starts the transmission and... nothing happens.  Eventually, the sender times out with an error.   Same computer, same Windows Fax and Scan software, with an old modem connected to a serial port, all works well.  Modem manufacturer was not able to help.

And now the same problem with another PC, the modem is different, different situation.  This time I don't have an easy fallback to a serial port.

And that leads to my question - no matter that matter where in fact seen a fax-modem USB in the field send and receive faxes using Windows Fax and Scan on Windows 7, and if yes, what was the make and model?

    Thank you

    -Greg Scott

    Hello Greg,.

    Thanks for the quick response.

You can view the reviews of the product in the manufacturer's Web site and see if that helps.

Also for the Windows Fax and Scan, when your PC or computer would be equipped with a fax modem (or connected to a fax server), it can send and receive documents such as a standalone device. Windows Fax and Scan even includes a handy tool for the design of custom cover pages.

    Also refer to:

I hope this helps. Otherwise, feel free to write us again and we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows Fax and Scan auto - file naming?

On my work XP machine, I use Windows scanner and Camera Wizard to scan files

I type a prefix of file name in ('Myscan") and it automatically names / saves the documents that I scan, Myscan1, Myscan2, etc, etc.
IM now using Windows 7 "Windows Fax and Scan."
Can see any automatic method of naming of files
    Any ideas?
Or can someone point me to a download "Windows scanner and Camera Wizard" (ish 2003)

Installation Wizard is not really what I'm after

I should have said "Microsoft" Scanner and camera Assistant, which is actually an application
    Old Windows XP application
Like I said - once you add a prefix of the file name "MyScans", chuck that renames a bucket of documents in the scanner and it scans automatically-
    "MyScans1" "MyScans2" "MyScans3"...  'MyScans635277 '.
Little research on Google, I noticed a lot of people appreciated/rate this feature and someone suggested looking for 'wiaacmgr.exe"thinking that it was just a XP product, I thought it was lost forever
Held my nose and typed in the search for Windows 7, and low and behold, its always included!
    In the C:\Windows\System32 folder
Did not have a scanner at home to run it, I just get "Scanner not connected", but I can't wait to get into the Office to see if it works
so anyone looking for the old "Microsoft scanner and Camera Wizard" - search your system for "wiaacmgr.exe.

  • Problem with Windows Fax and Scan does not connect to the Internal Modem

Just got a new Acer Aspire 5542-5416 computer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, 4 GB of Ram and a 320 GB hard drive. It has a 56 k modem integrated fax of like the old days, but I can't make it work. The laptop did not come with the Windows CD.

If I open the program Windows Fax and Scan, it is not able to connect to the modem. Basically, if I click on tools > fax accounts > Add..., I get a box with 2 choices: to connect to a fax modem or connect to a fax on my network server. When I want to connect a fax modem I get a message that says: an error has occurred. Please, try the operation again later or contact your administrator. It allows me to do this then just clock OK and them I'm right where I started.

While in Windows Fax and Scan, if I click on tools > fax settings... nothing happens. No menu settings or anything ever appears. Quite simply, the program does nothing. If I try tools > Fax Status Monitor... I get a box that says entrance exam status, ready to receive a fax. It has a blue progress bar as something takes over, but it gets about 1/100 to and never goes further or ends. There is no box, but there are 3 buttons: view details, answer call or cancel. If I hit details, I get an empty list. If I click on answer call I get an error that says that the fax service is not available.

If I try tools > Options, general tab has only a single option box is checked: play a sound when come it to new messages. If I try to print a Word or PDF file to a fax using Fax in the printer list, I get the same box with 2 choices: to connect to a fax modem or connect to a fax on my network server, but I get the same error message: an error has occurred. Please, try the operation again later or contact your administrator.

I've searched the Internet high and low for a solution but no luck. There is a lot of discussion about this problem, but none of the solutions work for me. If I go to Device Manager, the modem is working properly and if I click on the Modem query on the Diagnostics tab, it seems to be able to communicate with the modem very well. I tried to roll back the driver and updated again and still no luck, same problem. If I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax\Accounts in the registry, there is no subkeys under the folder accounts I can delete.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is there any solution for this? I did a Windows Update last night and has not yet solve it. Thank you.

    Sorry about that.

  • Unable to set up account, get error in Windows Fax and Scan

I have Windows 7 Home Premium installed, update of Vista home Premium. I've never used the Windows Fax and Scan until today. When I went to set up a Fax account this error in popup:

An error has occurred. Try the operation again later or contact your administrator.

I am the only user & administrator of this PC.

I saw a post on the forum Vista, I tried but still have not been able to solve this problem. Help, please.

    Hello

I tried the suggested method of deletion of registry keys, but it doesn't work on my laptop Win 7 Prof 32 bit with the built-in fax modem.

The fax service works only when I connect the the domain administrator account, even if I put my user account in domain with administrator rights. Before my network has been migrated to Win 2003 Server Win 2008 Server, the fax service worked very well for my domain user account, then the problem could be due to a setting in group policy by default under Win 2008 Server?

Looking forward to responses. Thank you.

Managed to solve today after I do a right-click on WFS, go into properties, Security tab, button "Advanced", then "Change permissions" for my special user for total control account. Open WFS again and click new fax to set up a new Fax account and all went well.

  • Windows Fax and Scan cannot detect Photosmart C4580 all-in-1 scanner connected to the wireless network

I have no problem printing or scanning when I connect my C4500 to PC via USB.  When connected via my home wireless router I can print OK but can not scan - it's the same for other users and computers.  Windows Fax and Scan gives me the message 'no scanner found. '  I need to work so that all users on my netwrok home can share the scanner.  I use Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks Travis_C (HP).  I actually found the solution just before receiving your answer!  I discovered that, although the Solution Center says it would uninstall the existing files before allowing me to reinstall with the latest version downloaded, it didn't remove all the files.  I only discovered this because the new facility has not taken me through the whole fresh installation procedure, he simply asked me what additional features I wanted to install and asked me if I wanted a local printer or network etc.

I thought that there must be a mistake or problem with whatever existing files were left and the new facility would not correct it.  So I used the control panel to uninstall the existing files, and I made sure that everything was gone.  I then used the last download to reinstall, this time through the new correct installation procedure, and everything now works perfectly.

With this method I always had a problem on another PC, giving me the same problem I had before.  I realized that this was due to a USB dongle connected to the PC to a wireless keyboard that seems to affect the installation.  When I removed the dongle installation worked again perfectly, and I now have full printing and scanning ability on all PCs.

I think the installer for this printer wireless (and perhaps others?) should be updated to solve the problem, and also the center of Solution must be fixed to ensure that if you uninstall the software it should not leave anything.

  • Windows Fax and Scan "Sender Name" empty (Windows Server 2008 Standard)

    Hi all

I am using Windows Server 2008 Standard (32-bit) with a RocketModem III card.  I have the latest drivers for the RocketModem.

Using Windows Fax and Scan, I can send and receive faxes fine.  The only problem is when I see the fax, the name of the sender is blank.  I am trying to display the telephone number that someone sends me the fax to.

I had thought it might also be under CSID, but everything I have complete options because it puts there.  I guess that means I want the CSID show for all those who sent faxes to me.

It might be worth noting that I have active CallerID and you have a real fax machine that shows the incoming number very well.

Does anyone have an idea where I could go wrong here?  Thanks in advance for the help!
