If Safari does, and you can not exit it using the command + Q or Safari-> Quit Safari, do a Force Quit.  Go to -> force quit-> Safari.

The latest version of Safari is version 9.0.1. Please check the App Store for updates. If there is none, you run an out-of-date copy. Delete the copy and use that in the Applications folder. Never move or copy built-in applications.

The problem seems to lie between Firefox & Google talk to each other. I also use Safari as a browser, also liked to Shaw and don't have no problem with Google Mail, (cards and other sites which now belongs to Google.)

This is caused by the network of Shaw, they are working on a resolution, but in the meantime the fix above will work. After Shaw solves their problem be sure to reset this value by default is that it is a safety device, you do not want allowed.

  • Problem with pop up adds and virus warnings when using safari

I have an iMac with OS version 10.11.4 2011 mid.  Sites that I visit such as Ancestry.com, Google Maps and find A Grave.com, download pop up ads and new tabs open with warnings of virus heading towards various support sites, including those who say that Apple in charge.  The pop up and new tabs who may or may not happen if often the Web sites are very slow to respond at all to give me the turning ball.

I closed several times tried to solve the problem in closing Safari, turn off my Wifi, then restart safari while pressing the SHIFT key, and then once that Safari has loaded, removing all data from the website and checking my making sure that my security settings is set to block pop-up windows up , and that my privacy is set to allow cookies and data Web site only on Web sites that I visit. Once I did this I activate Wifi.  But it does not clear the problem. I also ran Clamxav with the latest virus definitions that found six files with extensions of .emix that have been found in my emails and phishing files.

I switched to Firefox as my default browser and have so far not had a problem with the pop adds up or virus alerts.  And the Web sites I visit have been working properly.

What should I do to clear the problems I am having with Safari?

I'm not great technique, but know enough to be dangerous.  Any help would be appreciated.

First backup your drive hard as soon as POSSIBLE. You may well have a defect of the hard drives.

    Disc information:

ST3000DM001 disk HARD APPLE disk1: (3 TB) (rotation)

    EFI (disk1s1) < not mounted >: 210 MB

    Boot OS X (disk0s3) < not mounted >: 134 MB

    Macintosh HD (2) /: 3.11 TB 2.47 free - 37 errors

    Drive failure!

Then start in the recovery volume (start with the command + R keys), select disk utility and run the feature of first aid on the disks.  If you receive a message that x number of errors were repaired, rerun the first aid until there is no errors detected and repaired.  Restarts normally and restart Etrecheck.

Regardless of the results of the second report by no. means that you should not have Apple test a free diagnosis of your Mac.

Thirdly, launch Safari with the SHIFT key is pressed and see if there is an improvement in the performance of Safari.

    Hello captainlarrydart,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that your Mac is apparently going to sleep on his own, sometimes immediately after waking up.  To help solve this problem, please follow the steps below.

If your Mac goes to sleep in an unexpected way

Make sure that this energy saver is set up as you wish: choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click energy saver. Adjust one or more of the following affect when controls your Mac goes to sleep. Some of these controls are not available on your Mac model.

    • Cursor 'turn off display after.
    • Cursor "display sleep".
    • Slider 'the computer sleep.
If a slider is set to 'Never', sleep is disabled for this feature.
    • Schedule button

Make sure you that you do not put your Mac to sleep accidentally:

    • Pressing on the button / stop can put your Mac to sleep.
    • Move your mouse pointer into a hot corner can put your Mac to sleep, depending on your settings from Mission control. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Mission control. Click on the button active corners, then see if any of the corners are set to "Display Put sleep."
    • Using magnets near your Mac laptop can put your Mac to sleep.

If the previous steps do not work

These additional steps can help identify or resolve the problem:

    • Reset the SMC.
    • Reset the NVRAM.
    • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and screen. If that solves the problem, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time until you find the device that interferes with sleep. And then check the documentation that came with the device or contact the manufacturer of the device.
    • Start in Safe Mode to see if the problem is related to startup items not Apple, login items or kernel extensions.
    • Try to isolate the problem by using a different user account.

If your Mac does not sleep or wake up when expected

    Have a good.
