Start the computer in safe mode (press F8 continuously immediately after power and don't worry beeps when you press the button) and let it boot without a network.  Once there right click on the desktop and then click Properties.  Click settings and the value of the monitor mode (640 X 480) VGA or SVGA (800 X 600).  Accept the changes and restart the computer.  You should have a mediocre screen, but you should see it now.  Download and install the appropriate drivers for your video card in the laptop to the web site of the manufacturer of the laptop.  Install the drivers and then you should be able to set the display of the laptop to the correct native resolution for your computer monitor (must be in the documentation of the laptop).
  • How can I secure my laptop when I surf the internet via a public router at work?

How can I secure my laptop when I surf the internet via a public router at work? I mean if I use a router to work and others use too and I use a private laptop! I heard that someone hase the knoladge he can enter my laptop the couscous that he uses the same router I do. you have a special program for that, or is there a place in my computer that I need to enable to avoid the unwanted entries?

If your Windows is updated and your Windows Firewall is enabled and that you have updated anti-virus, that would be fine. In Windows 7, you must check Action Center in Control Panel to see your security status, if something is wrong that it will show a message in Windows XP and Windows Vista, he calls the center of security.

They may only enter your laptop or hack, if your firewall is disabled or there is a vulnerability in your system or a Malware would cause of vulnerability, and in all cases to ensure that your Windows updates and anti-virus is running, you are protected.

Another thing is that if your router requires the password, then choose strong password and change it regularly, if it is public without password or authentication, then you need to careful when visiting Web sites because they could be monitor and publicly display information. Some websites have encryption that in Internet Explorer, it shows as a lock icon pad indicating that your transaction is encrypted and you're safe.

It depends also wireless encryption in your company that will be in service by admin or SOUND Department if it's WPA2 which is good but for WEP or WPA, you should be very careful. I suggest to discuss this issue with your COMPUTER service too.

  • I have a laptop with a licensed copy of XP Home but do not have the installation disc. How can I get the XP Home reinstalled without having to buy another copy

Laptop has a heavy program that runs in the background constantly which makes the device unusable (I think it must be some kind of virus ' cos nothing appears in the Manager of tasks or processes) and I want to reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP from scratch... bought the laptop second hand with XP already installed and never had a copy dvd.

  • Can someone tell me how I can access the internet on my laptop to someone else's House?

I want to take my computer on a visit, I can access the internet at home someone else with their supplier?

    Hi Huw,

If it is a WIFI connection and they provide the access codes and Setup appropriate (and maybe even if they are not depending on how they are configured), it should be no problem.  You will probably need to create a new connection to connect to their network and possibly another new connection to connect to internet (if they are separated).  I created portable work of my wife to work from home in less than 5 minutes.

If you need to connect with a cable, then you need a cable and they need a way to connect to their network or their internet connection or even a computer connected to the internet connection can be used by ICS to give you access (even once, after you have setup the proper connections and codes installation).

The following may or may not be of help (although designed for Vista, you can get the general idea on their part and XP and W7will be similar and you should be able to work out the differences - if not, look how configure wireless internet access in "The BONES" of aid):

Here is a tutorial on how to set up a home network (including a wireless)-click on additional links for more information that may be helpful: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-home-network.

Here is an article on troubleshooting network connections wireless (with links): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-network-connection-problems.

Here's a long guide on wireless internet connections in Vista: http://www.techwarelabs.com/guides/misc_mod/vistaconnection/.

Here is an article on how to set up wireless internet in Vista: http://www.clpgh.org/usingthelibrary/technology/wireless/WindowsVista.pdf

The truth is it is relatively easy and is done all the time by many people.  Think about all the people with laptops who take their origin and work at the same time and maybe even at Starbucks.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • CQ60 Notebook: my computer hp cq60 laptop does not connect to internet at home

Is no longer, my laptop HPCQ-60 will connect to the internet at home.  I can connect everywhere else, I'm going without any problems.   Using the ethernet cable to connect, but it doesn't work now, too.  Have seen previous assignments showing the same problem.  It seems to be a driver update the solution, but the link provided in the response, apparently is no longer active.

    @kg88

Assuming that you are still able to connect to other networks wireless without problem, which means that the adapter and the driver is good; If not then try to reload the driver FRO m the support page:

    Compaq Presario CQ60 - 215DX Notebook PC - software & drivers

After that, the best thing would be to forget this network and recreate the connection, at least as a starting point.

    Forget a network (Windows Vista)
    1. start network and sharing Center.
    2. in the pane tasks, click on manage wireless networks.
    3. right click on the connection that you want to delete and then click on remove network.
    4. in wireless networks handle - warning dialog box, click OK.
    5. the connection is removed from the list of wireless connections that you can view or edit.

Then browse to the next page, and the other things to try cities then.

    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

    Reset TCP/IP on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.

    Hello

You are able to access other MSN web sites?

If the problem is only with MSN, then validate the query in the MSN forum for a possible solution. Check the link for the MSN forum below.

  • HP Laserjet Pro M201dw: "then I explained the problem to management and they said not to buy all the HP printers more."

Our two new printers Laserjet Pro M201dw are not recognized on the office network.   I have spent hours trying to understand this and posted questions on the forum Support HP, but without response. They became more disadvantages than thay are worth.  And that's enough.  Then I explained the problem to management and they said 'don't buy it not all HP printers more.'

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried to BootP and disable ipv6 on a printer and at first, it worked (finally).  But then, after having unplugged and restarted, he returned to the ip address of connection no.

So finally, I noticed and changed the setting of the link of "Automatic" to '100TX' speed full - and that seems to have solved the problem of intermittency.  I've converted and turn it back on, unplugged, etc., and it maintains the connection and ip address.

Do not want to play with something that works, I can't say with certainty if the speed of one link would have solved the problem (probably not), but it seems that while your excellent suggestions finally established a network connection, the setting of explicit link speed was necessary to maintain the connection.

Thanks for your help in this matter!
