conversion of extension .mov

Hello. I use a camera that records video in .mov format. When I import into Windows DVD Maker when to bury the disc, they say the file format is not supported, even for Windows Movie Maker as well. Is it possible to import them in? Or do I need to convert it to another format? Should what format I convert in order to maintain the same high image and sound quality of the .mov file? Thank you

  • Mobile video only play with 5 d MKIII headphones. MOV > mp4 conversion

I have not run into something like this before, and I hope that someone...

I have been video capture with a 5 d MKIII for awhile now and create videos for the work and upload to YouTube and mobile platforms. Someone recently told me that through the application of YouTube, these videos (this one for example: recovery of hail in corn V12 - YouTube) will play fine on computer browsers and on a mobile device with headphones. When you try to play through the YouTube app without a helmet, this video will play only scrambled very quietly and sound.

I traced the problem to capture video of 5 d MKIII, as capture with a canon XF105 is not the question (after conversion from SOUL to mp4) on upload or play directly from a mobile device or streaming from something like Dropbox.

I don't know what to check now. I tried almost every export conceivable choice and adjustment by TEA CC2014 (and tried both CC). I tried this through my laptop and another machine on the same set of software. I tried exporting only the MP3 and listen via dropbox (same question - its blurred and quiet). I tried without Quicktime installed on the machine (thinking that there could be a problem with the SOUL of QT and the QT local. I tried to take the. MOV file directly from the camera and create a. AVI and MXF file used in editing and export to MP4. None of these things have changed the result.

    The things I know are:

    n ' DSLR can't other catches (like the XF105)

n ' sometimes that sounds try to come through the speakers of the mobile device (works with headphones) - I checked the settings 'mute' on all mobile devices, I used it and it isn't the issue. I tried Samsung, iPhone and iPad all with the same result

-audio plays normally through browsers and mobile headphones

If anyone has had this experience please let me know. It is very problematic that we had to use DSLR for video most now. There seems to be something with streaming, but it also happens when I take the file (camera > mp4 or after editing in first/AE > mp4) and play directly from the device. It must be something with the conversion of. MOV to mp4 but what?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Hello PorterQuinn,

Thank you for posting.  You will need a 3rd party software program or conversion to convert .mov to another type of file that will be recognized by Movie maker.  There are a few conversion tools free availible.  You can use your favorite search engine to find some of them.

Please let me know if this helps you.

  • converting .mov

I'm trying to import from a digital camera .mov file in my Windows Movie Maker.  It says that the file type is not supported.  How can I get this file in a format supported by the Movie Maker?

I have a new laptop Dell Studio with Vista

    Hi bluejay112,

The extension .mov is a type of video used by Apple. To import the file into Windows Movie Maker, you will need a video converter to convert the .mov file that is used by Windows Movie Maker. Apple offers Quicktime Pro as an option to convert your .mov files. Otherwise, you can do a search online for video conversion software to find one that fits your needs.

I am also including a list of video, audio and files taken image supported by Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks to all who responded to my original question.

After several attempts to insert the file .mov with your advice, I did.

1 using the Adobe Media Encoder, convert the .mov file in mp4 H.264 format.

Before that, I was converting the file to MPG4 format, get a file after conversion .3gp extension,

that did not work in Dreamweaver, appearing just an empty container.

    2. I put the code to correct the error.

    =========================================
I was wondering what version of Windows are you using? XP, Vista, 7

Sorry... but with the .mov files, the conversion is the only solution.

Here is a way to convert online so that you won't have to
    Download and install a software:

Try the following free online Converter:

    Media-Convert
    http://media-convert.com/

    Apple Quicktime conversion instructions

    (1) in the field "File"... click on "Browse".
button and navigate to the .mov file you
you want to convert. When you select the
file... the path will appear in the field "File".

    (2) the "Input format" field should automatically
show... Let it 'Apple Quicktime (.mov)'
    as it is...

    (3) "output size" has two windows...
does not display the field on the left, "no video".
    PRESET"... leave it as what...

    (4) in the next to move to the right window
You can choose the format you want
    convert... try:

    Windows Media Video (.wmv)

    (5) on the left, click on the blue * OK button.
(sometimes the site is busy... If the conversion fails... try again)

Now... wait as the file to be converted.
    (be patient)

Once the conversion is completed, you will see:

    File converted successfully!

Your file will appear right of a little green
... left click on the file name... save it as
... appears on the left, click on the "Save" button.
Choose a folder to save in (I always download)
on my desk)... on the left, click on the "Save" button.

When the file is downloaded, you should be able
to play with Windows Media Player and it should
    be compatible with Movie maker.

    That's all! Good luck.

Not really a definitive right answer... just some info...

Are you on Mac or PC? With some PC systems, you must ensure that you have their own version of QuickTime 7 is installed. If you have updated to 10 Windows, make sure that you have also updated QuickTime. Other that that, you should be OK.

If you're on a Mac, try to import the clips via the media instead of file browser > import.

    Hope that helps you.
