Converter - Possible to convert volumes from Windows disk without the boot volume?

I have a Windows 2003 server with three disks and volumes, C, D, E.  I tried three times to convert and it still didn't as it tries to convert the volume.  I tried to convert just D with converter but I find I do C (start/Windows) volume must also be convereted.  Is there a way just to select off D C? (See attached pict).   Converter doesn't let me do it on the last page of the wizard.

Thank you

Yes, the 5.0.1 Converter allow deselection system volumes and boot. HTH

  • Install Windows 7 without Dual Boot

Is there a way I can install Win 7 on a separate drive XP without entering the bootloader Win?

I would choose which system to start using the start menu in the bios (F12 on my Dell 4700).  The underlying need is to remove the need for my spouse to have to deal with the boot loader menu.

BIOS on this system has an option to change the boot order of drives.  I have not tried to use it, so I can't be sure it will work, but the result is that I could could move the new SSD to the top of the order.  If this has been done before the installation of Win 7, it would be enough to win 7 auto loading on the SSD without the boot loader?

Or is it necessary to turn off the player XP is running from?

You will need the Boot Manager.

What you can do is the default operating system that you would like him to start when she wants to use the computer and set the timer for 4 or 5 seconds. Then he starts immediately to his OS of choice.

Otherwise, I would buy him a laptop.

Click Start, right click on computer

    Click on properties

    Under control panel home

    Click on "advanced system settings".

    Go to the Advanced tab

Under Startup and recovery, click settings

In the default operating system list, select an earlier version of Windows

Change the time for the list of OS to 4 or 5 seconds.

    Click OK

    Then apply and OK

  • Is it possible to upgrade Enterpsie from Windows Vista to Windows 7 using the upgrade HP program?

    Hi all

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Windows Vista Enterprise. I read on the ability to upgrade to Windows 7 at low administrative cost by HP upgrade program. However, the site mentions that I can only upgrade from Vista Home Premium, business or ultimate edition. My laptop HP (the EliteBook 8530w) had Windows Vista Enterprise is installed. So I want to know if it is possible for me to upgrade to Windows 7 using the upgrade HP program.

I bought this laptop from my University. They had a program, so we could buy our laptop with many applications that we need for our study pre-installed. It could be that they have replaced the Vista HP installed with Windows Vista Business version. If this is the case, is it possible for me to somehow re - install the previous version of Vista, so I can still take part in the upgrade program?

I bought my laptop at my University. They have installed all the software and it is possible that they also installed Windows Vista business. When I looked at the description of the Elitebook 8530w, he mentioned Windiows Vista Ultimate as the operating system. So I am clueless why my University is using Windows Vista Enterprise.I have decided that I will contact HP support on this issue, to see if I can install Vista Ultimate and then upgrade to Windows 7.

UPDATE: I contacted just HP support by phone. The Elitebook 8530w comes with Vista Bussiness installed and they send me an installation disc within 14 days. They have also described here it might be possible to do a clean install with upgrade cd, although they did not know for some. I think I'll try the clean install first, and if that doesn't work, I'll install Windows Vista Bussiness and then perform the upgrade.

In any case, I want to thank everyone for the help they provided.

The only version of Windows, you can upgrade from XP is Vista. If you
want to go to the 7, 8, 8.1, or 10, you must do a clean install,
    not an upgrade.

Note also that if you old computer same peut run a later version, the
the material on your XP - era machine is probably way underpowered to run a
newer version with acceptable performance. So moving to a later
version is not a good idea.

And another point: If you upgrade to a later version, you may need
drivers for it are not available. So before you do anything check
availability of the reader on the Dell web site.

Mr. Ken Blake, thank you very much for your quick response. I understand the concerns regarding an upgrade. So I continue to run the same Windows XP with SP3 until the machine functions

    Thank you very much

You are welcome. Happy to help you.

When I try to update Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows from store screen, I get a message that I need to go to Windows Update and download the latest updates before continuing with the update Windows 8.1. I do and then return to the store and try the update Windows 8.1 and get the same message again and again once, etc, etc. How make it past the screen "you must update windows before?

It is likely that your Windows updates are not getting downloaded or installed correctly.

First of all, we advise you to check your update history and see if there are updates failed. To learn how, see the question "How can I find out what were the updates installed?" on the link below:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/Windows-Update-FAQ

If there are updates failed, try to download and install the ones that updates once more and see if that helps.

In addition, it is recommended to run the troubleshooter Windows Update from the link below for other problems that you can deal with Windows updates:
