  1st thing to do is to warn them that their yahoo accounts have been compromised; You can call if necessary if they are not replying to emails on your part

  It worked for me:
  I went to settings and change of basic e-mail.
  This gave me the opportunity to download the attachment, I needed.
  I then clicked on update to the new yahoo mail spiffy, and everything works like new again.

  Hope that works for one person.

  As correctly mentioned knottyrope, you need a BlackBerry (or BIS of BlackBerry Internet Service) data plan fully to access your email accounts.

  BIS will push notifications by e-mail on your phone if you don't have to go look for new ones.  He is also responsible to push for new posts to facebook, new tweets, etc., on your phone.  Without this, you must consult your e-mail on the web account to access, you will need to go to facebook.com to see new messages, you will need to go to twitter.com for new tweets, etc..

  PPS 14/11/2012: in response to another of my posts, someone suggested the simple solution that I followed: open a GMail account, import my contacts from Yahoo to Gmail, then add the Gmail account to the accounts of persons of the Surface.  Bingo, had my Yahoo on the Surface contacts in 5 minutes!
