cooking of the primary hard drive files

I'm tring to back up all my files, but only my recovery files are back up. When I click Change backup settings, I noticed two hard drives listed. The main hard drive and the hard drive recovery. The hard drive recovery is the only one that I can select and deselect. The main hard drive is already enabled and cannot be deselected, yet when I save files and the custom of primary hard drive then upward. Is it possible I can open the hard drive so that I can save? On the way back up there is a message that says that Shadow backup is in progress. That this has something to do with the fact that the basic motivation is the watch that it is selected but are let me uncheck it? Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • How to add a 2nd HD as the primary hard drive with an OS, STILL make my current HD, as a 2nd hard drive.

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (Core 2 Quad with 4 GB of Ram - Win Vista Home) with an internal 500 GB SATA HD and want to replace it with a WD 1 TB SATA internal hard drive and add an operating system (Win-7 - 32-bit).  I hope that this isn't really a problem, and yet, I would like to use my current 500 SATA GB internal HD, I replaced, as a (the) 2 internal SATA Hard Drive.  Years, 2 two different internal hard drives have been set as master and slave.  Any ideas on how to make the transition to the larger 1 to SATA HD, install an OS on it and then install my previous 500 GB SATA HD as a 2nd HD internal?  Thank you very much for any help!

You can leave the 500 GB drive, as it is if you want.  The system configuration has a menu item, the boot order, which determines which device gets tried first when you start the system.  Most Dells made before 2012 make this easy for you, because if you do not have a RAID actually running on the machine, the disk hard boot option is limited to SATA 0.  That is why your boot hard drive must be attached to this port.  The operating system on your 500 GB drive not even considering, although it is possible to set up the boot on SATA disk 0 files so that you can start the operating system on the second disc.  Systems of multiple starts work like that, and if you want this option, the installer of Windows 7 would even set up for you.

I have Windows XP on the SATA 0 drive in my XPS 410.  I bought a second drive, started the Windows 7 dvd and run the Setup program to install Windows 7 on the second disc.  When my computer starts up, a message appears giving me the option to boot or the other OS.  Make no mistake, however, if the SATA drive 0 fails, you cannot start the second player by itself.  Initial startup files are always on SATA 0.

  • How to remove the old hard drive files. Can not defragment

    Not enough space to defragment.

I'd be interested to see a report of Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file, place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edition, select all to select all the text and copy and paste into the body of your message. To do this, before you run Disk Defragmenter because it is more informative.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before that the error occurred initially, do not use this option.

You can create more free space in C in carrying one of the measures suggested below.

The default allocation for the restoration of the system is 12% on your C partition is more generous. I have them would be reduced by 700 MB. Make my computer right click on your icon, and select System Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select settings but this time find the slider and drag it to the left until it shows 700 MB and output. When you get to the settings screen, click on apply and OK and leave.

A flaw that might be useless which is for temporary internet files, especially if you keep no copies on the disk offline. Setting the default value is 3% of the walk. Depending on your attitude to copies offline, you could bring it to 1% or 2%. In Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, general, temporary Internet files, settings to make the change. At the same time, look at the number of days, the story stands.

The default allocation for the basket is 10% of the disk. Change to 5%, which should be enough. In Windows Explorer hover over your Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and move the slider from 10% to 5%. However, try to let you become so complete that if it is complete and you delete a file by mistake it will bypass the Recycle Bin and have gone forever.

If your drive is formatted as NTFS another potential gain arises with your operating system on your C drive. In the Windows directory of your C partition you will some uninstall files in your Windows folder in general: $NtServicePackUninstall$ and $NtUninstallKB282010$ etc. These files can be compressed or not compressed. If compressed text the name of the folder appears in blue. If these files are not compressed you can compress. Right-click on each folder and select Properties, general, advanced, and check the box before you compress contents to save disk space. On the general tab, you can see the winning amount by deducting the size on disk size. File compression is only an option on an NTFS formatted disk partition / partition.

We have upgraded to Windows 7, XP and did not know that we should have saved our address book and the old emails into a separate folder, you go back. Because it is that we are saved using a Seagate Back Up, assuming that everything would simply be transferred on when we downloaded. However, our old emails and the Inbox etc are not in a format that we can extract. Is it possible to access this information, or we lost. I saw some files, but they are .json or .msc and I can't open them. I hope someone can help as the address list would be really useful.

You will find a folder of the backup that resembles the profile folder? It would have been under XP C:\Documents and Settings\ < Windows user name > \Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\ < profile_name >. If so, e-mail and address books files must be there and can be transferred to the new profile.

This article explains how to transfer data, for example copy abook.mab from the old to the new profile to restore the personal address book.

  • With the help of Windows Easy Transfer - need to transfer the old HARD drive to new computer - old HDD attached as external drive for the new usb port of the computer - help

New computer installed Windows 7 and gave me an option to use Windows easy transfer to transfer files, data, programs, etc. from my old computer.  All I have from the old computer's hard drive; a lightning strike fried either food or his mother by car.  I have attached the hard as a disk to the new computer using the usb cable provided with the external hard drive case.  It is recognized as drive E: on the new computer.

Trying to follow the instructions given by the Windows Easy Transfer software.  Get the software/folder from the old hard drive (drive E), but trying to run the software that I can't seem to do anything on the old disk.  When asked what is the former or the new computer - I respond to old, but no new file is created for the transfer.  When I answer again, a new file is created on the new computer (rather than the old HDD) and then he transferred again to new.  I can't create a file of whatever it is I want to transfer from the old HDD.

I can't use an easy transfer cable because the old computer does not only the hard drive.  I can't connect to a network for the same reason.  I only have the hard that I can attach to the new computer.  But I can't get the new computer to process the old hard drive separately for transfer purposes.  The only other option I can think of is to attach the old HDD to another computer, and then try to run the software in this way, but I don't want just the stuff on the old hard drive a copy to the other computer.

Can anyone help?  Suggest how to get the old hard drive files, data, transferred etc. to the new computer.  What are the steps?

    Thank you.

Do yourself a favor, with the old drive connected externally, in the browser, simply copy the data files to the location of Documents of the PC win7. You can not copy programs, they need to be reinstalled from media origonal. You can copy all the downloaded files instalation

  • Location of the bookmarks on an old hardrive that is not Windows, running but the old hard disk files are accessed through another hard drive.

The old hard disk does not run Windows, so access to the usual file through Windows Explorer or Firefox has not worked for me. The old hard drive is now a slave drive and all files are intact and accessible via the new Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

You have Windows configured to display the hidden files and folders? If not, do it as soon as the first. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=Windows-7

Then, what version of Windows do you have on the old drive? Your profile folder must be on the way there:

    Windows XP and earlier versions:

    \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    Windows Vista and later:

    \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

If you find multiple profile folders, see the recent order. You find a subfolder named bookmarkbackups. This article describes how to restore the .json files, you will find: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer.

I'm really skeptical if you can launch the second partition Toshiba ghost image files without using the Symantec Norton Ghost software.

I created a ghost of the C partition image and placed on the D partition.

  • How can I move music and photos from my MacBook on an external hard drive, files without deleting the existing NTFS files stored on it?

    Hello.

I am aware that this issue (or different versions of it) will be requested a thousand times before, but after searching on the internet for a solution, I have been unable to find all the information that brings a simple clear answer that is specific to my problem and so thought I would ask the question myself.

I recently bought a Toshiba 1 TB external hard drive to transfer music, photo files and internal document in front of the memory of my old PC running Windows, as well as files, music and photos from my existing MacBook Pro, so I can "release" the memory on the latter.

Transfer files from the old PC proved to be easy; success achieved by simple drag / drop the files to the appropriate location on the external HD icon of Toshiba which appears once I connected to a USB port. It is perhaps worth mentioning that the area of States hard drive has been formatted NTFS for Windows, and so I guess that I would not have expected any problems when transferred to a PC.

Move the files from my MacBook has however proved anything but simple and trying to drag the respective music and photo files and drop them on the HD Toshiba icon (which appears on my desktop once it is plugged), I seem to be affected by the same issues as so much seems to have it before me, in that "forbidden access" / error symbol appears with the cursor , and bounce the files to their original location whenever I try to place them on the Toshiba HD.

I understand that this is due to the HD is formatted in NTFS, and that I would need to reformat the hard drive to move files from my MacBook, which brings me to my questions:-

    (a) how do I do this, and

    (b) can I do this without losing, damage or remove the NTFS files from my old PC, which are already stored on the external hard drive.

If one is able to offer any assistance, in the most simple, easy to follow the description, I would be really grateful!

Never been so thanks in advance!

1 install software such as Paragon NTFS on the Mac and let the reader in its current form or from the Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open disk utility and reformat.

    2. that by putting a copy on another drive. You should do this anyway, in case of failure of this drive.
