Copy a file preserved CreationDate

By using the click-drag can I move/copy a file from one folder to another.  But do so always seems to change the CreatedDate the current date/time.  I want to copy a file and preserve its original CreationDate.

The only way I know to do it is to use "robocopy" from a command line prompt window

(WindowKey + R-> "cmd"-> OK)

with the "/ dcopy:T" option.

"Robocopy".

  • The behavior of copy (.png files) screen when using TextEdit and printing

I have long used the method to copy and paste texts and/or pictures to TextEdit and print files .rtf or .rtfd below:

I use the command-control-shift-4 and the cursor to select things and paste into TextEdit.

That stopped working in the Sierra.  I tried several methods (PDF format conversion, fall in Pages and Numbers, for example), but nothing worked: the Canon PIXMA MX922 printed on a white sheet and left the box of small characters with text "filter impossible."

There is no new printer driver on the Canon site; However, there is a new driver IJ Scan Utility and I downloaded it already after that installation of Sierra and the scanner works fine, as also directly print something (e.g. on the Web).

Now, after several days of testing and I was wondering, I tried this yesterday:

Instead of the above command, I used (which I do when I want to save it to the desktop) command + shift + 4.  I copied the file .png from office, dropped in the TextEdit, printed, and... IT WORKED.

Copy and leaving fall directly in the TextEdit and printing, is so not working, but let fall the same screenshot on the desktop and copy and paste into TextEdit and it print shops.

I noticed several other annoying problems to Sierra, some I've reported here (communities), some didn't.  Business-as-usual: first version of an upgrade is full of bugs, which 'disappear' in future versions, until a new update is made available, the loop continues, continues, and...

    He works here.

  • How can I copy SOME files to email from an old backup profile

I have a folder created under one of my accounts named Archive. In it I have subfolders for previous years. I discovered that they are all absent.

I have a backup months full profile, but these records of the previous year would still have their content.

How can I get these files (or therir content in my current profile that has the same name?

In the Mail subdirectory other subdirectories with the name of the account of archives and of those who should be without extension and other files with the same name but with the extension .msf. Copy these files without extension in the account called the backup Archive to the current profile.

  • Best way to copy a file in the Finder

I am really struggling with the Mac interface, after having been a user of PC/Windows for decades.  I can copy/move files in Windows Explorer with ease.  On my MacBook, this simple task seems impossible.  My goal is to copy a file from one location to a specific folder.

In the Finder, I select the file I want to copy and select 'Copy' from the Edit menu.  I then navigate to the folder that I want to place the file, highlight this folder and select "Paste" from the Edit menu.  He went to put in the parent directory of the file I selected, not the folder selected.  Tried to do this by dragging a file (which is really hard when using the touchpad).  When I fall on the folder I want, once again, place it in the parent folder.  As I was doing this on a network (WD Cloud NAS) drive, I gave up and a PC to move the files where I wanted them.

This is ridiculous.  I thought that Macs were supposed to be easy to use.  I'm almost at the point of return my MacBook to the Apple store.

Hold down the Option key while you drag and drop.

  • moving vs copy of files

Being a packrat and tending to put the files on my desktop, I resolved to clean things up. First thing I did was assign a mark in an appropriate manner.

Then you select all of the files "Blues", for example, I dragged the in a new folder. About 40 GB of data.

Finder on muffled, reported that he copied, don't move not. Can someone explain that Finder when I move a file or a bunch of files? He's copying or modification of directory entries or what? How to account for very long time, he wants to copy the files?

To move without copying, press the command key while you drag and drop.

  • Cannot copy the file 6.89 on Toshiba 250 GB HDD USB external

    Hello

First, you should check the properties of the HARD drive. You can also do in under Computer Management disk management.
Should there have listed everything on the external HARD drive.
You could further format the disk with NTFS and check if it of possible to copy this file again.

  • copied password files doesn't work is not on the second PC

I looked at information about files of password for FireFox 3.6.x on the web... it's my understanding that it's all in the files key3.db signons3.txt. However, when I copied these files to a FireFox 3.6.x instance on a second PC and launched FireFox, the list of password (under Security) was empty. What other files or procedures are required to export/import passwords from one PC to another?
In addition, it would be nice to have this feature added to the UI of FireFox in the native address... I'm not comfortable with using an add-in for it that you can never be sure that your passwords are not compromised by the add-in program.

Firefox 3.6 does not use key3. DB, instead it uses signons.sqlite. You must copy this file and signons3.txt

    Hello

I have a little problem with my Satellite U500.

    Hi Jaso444,

What OS do you have exactly?
It happens when you copy a file with Windows Explorer or another program?

Sometimes I also noticed this problem but I think it s normal behavior. In this case, I press F5 (refresh) and everything is ok.

  • Portege M400: cannot copy the files on the disk HARD - can't see any of my files in Word

I bought the M400 a few weeks ago. There are a number of problems. Adobe reader gives "an internal error has occurred", manual installation of download gives "error occurred in the file zip", download or copy of the files on the hard disk gives error "there is no space" when there are only 8 gig used from 60 GB. Now, I don't see any of my files in Word.

I can also copy the files from the cd or DVD. I'm in canada mississauga on Horus, usually resident in the United Kingdom, so I'm in a precarious situation because I can't in my office to sort out the issues.

Can someone advise me please why all these problems are happening, do I have to use the recovery disk? Baz

    > Forgive me but how to put the hard drive in business.

I think that the Johnny means that you connect the HARD drive to another computer using the external USB HDD controller. These external USB HDD cases can be purchase in every store of the computer.

However, if you n t need data that are placed on the HARD drive, you could simply start installing the OS from the recovery CD. This will format the whole HARD drive and install the new operating system as well as all the drivers, utilities and software further.

  • ENVY of HP dv7: copy the file fails error on disk 2 to 58% HP recovery

My hard drive in my dv7 ENVY dies for the second time in two years (it was under warranty last time and I was able to fix). I bought the hard drive same exact (Samsung, 1 TB), tested in BIOS, past everything. When I try to make the image recovery with the HP recovery discs I received the last time my hard drive died, I get an error then that 58% on two recovery disc that says:

    Reducer

    Copy the file fails

    From: d:\preload\base24. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    To: c:\RM\Image\BASE24. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    Press OK to retry.

I press OK and it does the same thing over and over again. People who questioned him on this same type of error seem to get anywhere here, but what choice do I have? The hard drive is the same size, same manufacturer, same model, it should have the question of reimage the system on a hard drive more small, right?

Am I just out of luck on that? So frustrated.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on recovery issues and wanted to help.

Here is the link to the tool of creation of win8.1 media: installation media to create for Windows - 8.1 help Windows

Understand, however, you might encounter a problem installing using the media created from this tool.

You have a version of OEM HP of Win8 installed on your PC, and this means that the product key that is embedded in the motherboard UEFI firmware is OEM, not retail.

While the media created from this tool SHOULD be activated using this key, there is no guarantee he will do.  If it is not the case, you can use this tool to recover your product key and try to enter it manually: Download Windows OEM Product Key Tool - MajorGeeks

IF it still does not work, then your only recourse would be to order a new set of recovery from HP discs.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

However, HP customer care is generally not available on weekends, so you will have to wait until Monday to contact them.

    Good luck

  • MainStage retains "Copy Audio files" during save

    Hello

MainStage guard do "Copy Audio files" then to save it. It copies the audio files temporarily in the concert file and removes them. I don't know why he started to do so. I tried to do a "save under" and set the options in different ways for the project to avoid this but these concerts have done the same thing: whenever I click Save starts copying files and can I have a coffee break.

Any ideas how to get rid of this behavior?

I saw a similar topic about the "save under"-it's "Save":

MainStage 3.2.3 is copy audio when recording as files

    See you soon,.

When I perform a "Save as", I get a bunch of boxes of digital resources to include or exclude from the backup. See the checkboxes in the gray box at the bottom of the screenshot below.  Leaving the "copy EX instruments in concert" box unchecked prevents MainStage to copy audio files (at least for me.)

    Good luck.

  • Copy the file fails the Windows 7 recovery discs sent hp

I have tried to solve this problem for a month now and I'm at the end of my home.
I am now on my third set of recovery discs HP and all have the same problem. I insert disk 1 by following the instructions on the support forum. She's going through

    Reducer
    Copy the file fails
    From: E:\PRELOAD\BASE. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
    To: C:\RM\Image\BASE. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
    Press OK to retry

Three series of drives have the same come.
    What the hell is happening?
    I'm so sick of this.

Read a few other posts with similar problems, but can't seem to find the solution. I don't have an external hard drive, I can use... only the laptop I'm trying to fix. (G6-1305sa)

Any help? It also doesn't help when the HP support is open on the phones until 5:30 from Monday to Friday. I'm at work so can't call. So frustrating...

    Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh

    Hi Belj,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6-1305sa Notebook and not able to restore Windows. If the HARD drive is faulty, this can cause the restoration should not go well. You can try to run a test of material. Please note remove any and all USB devices and remove the memory card in the slot of the card reader. Disconnect all non-essential devices. What is the original HARD drive? Have you replaced all other parts? Have you tried to do a clean install of Windows 7. Try running sfc/scannow would scan your system to find errors on the command line. You can get to the command prompt by clicking F11 at startup. You can see this Microsoft document on the system recovery options.

    Hope this will help.

    Thank you.

  • Why can't I managed to install the iso file in my USB? I've tried different usb and hard drives and disassembled a lot or time usb but when, it comes up with an error copying the files on and it stops loading? What should I do?

Why am I unable to download and copy iso files that need to go into the USB drive, it always comes up with an error when copying the installation files and none of the solutions have worked (some of the things I've tried are different from the USB, disassemble and repeat the download process windows files)

You cannot use a simple USB as a source and destination. You must copy the ISO file (it's a single file, not the full installer) in your Documents folder and then run BCA to create a USB installation program. 2015 macs do not create a USB installation program.

Could be a corrupted file system. Copy all the files off the card and reformat.
