Copy and paste graphic inserted gives InDesigne, object not! Bug or 'feature '?

When I copy and paste any object in Indesign (Vectorgraphics, Rectangle, Textarea, everything) it is not glued as another object, there in the form of a graph inserted paster. I use creative Cloud, to update automatically. What is a 'novelty' or a bug? Copy and paste an object-> I want a new object (editable and with same color, etc.) and not a chart inserted. I can't change all the parameters of that or something? never had this problem before!

I would appreciate your help as it really is uncomfortable in the workflow, even though I understand it would increase performance and reduce the amount of data.

  • Copy and paste graphic w/shadow in indesign - loses the transparency

    InDesignScreenSnapz002.jpg

See the image above... I did a version vector of our company in illustrator logo (all referenced programs are cs5 btw) and it looks great, but when I copy and paste from Illustrator into InDesign, it loses the transparency around the logo. If I place the logo instead, it works fine. The problem is there are about 16 variants of the logo and its MUCH easier to copy and paste from a global file rather than have several files of different logos to be placed.

General information on how the logo was created: the inner circle is several layers degraded (some with both transparency masks). The white line around the outside edge is a stroke extended, and he had a shadow applied effect (menu aesthetics), that I developed for it would scale correctly when scaling the logo from top to bottom. Here is a link to download the logo: download the logo

Q: is there any way make InDesign preserve transparency when I copy and paste?

You would be eternally grateful if someone has a solution that allows me to copy and paste!

You have to put each version on its own layer in Illustrator and place the file I. Choose display options, cultures of the bounding box and select the appropriate layer.

You going to have successful copy/paste with shadows that would be better applied in the ID anyway.

  • Copy and paste from word in InDesign - foreign characters

    Hello

I have a Word file using fonts foreign, Chinese, Korean etc.. I have the fonts on my computer because the word document shows them OK... but, if I try to copy and paste the text into InDesign, these characters that either don't watch any or you just get the color pink with small gray squares... Anyone out there has advice for how to manage this kind of situation.

    Thank you!!

Oooh, OK. I get my finger-waving caution.

It could be a number of different things. I almost always place instead of copy and paste, but I have no trouble copy & paste text of complex script of any sort in any of my different versions and platforms. I figure that there are two different ways - is it something about implementing folds or Clipboard which this (which means it could be decompressed exactly in the same way as any police drop, no complex-script knowledge required) or there is something about the no Latin text itself that causes the problem. Take a look at the Clipboard (Edit-> preferences-> Clipboard handling) settings to see if these settings solves the problem by changing the settings of plain text for example.

If this does not work, I would say showing a lot more detail. Platform, versions of Word and Indy, the specific policies are a failure, a description of the way styles are implemented in the current Word and Indy docs, maybe a sample of the doc Word and Indy zipped and made available for testing (for example if I can successfully copy and paste in the RFSO when your username cannot) (, there is something wrong with the installation of the user), and so on. Without such information, the best I can do is take random speculation.

  • Copy and paste from Illustrator - actual size? (not to scale)

Hello, I have a question about something that I met several times and can't seem to find an answer to. when I copy something of Illustrator and place it in Photoshop (like a SmartObject), I want to set the actual size, rather than adjust to the size of the PS file. For example, say I have a PS 100x50px file. In Illustrator, I create this file PS elements. I have a component in artificial intelligence that is 100 x 50 with text down. If I copy and paste that in PS, it will not match exactly because the text gives a little extra space above and below and it actually copies as say 100x50.74px and is therefore biased (or scale truly wrong, proportionately) when pasted in the PS file. Of course I can resize manually, but it is inefficient and unreliable. It seems that there should be a preference somewhere where you can choose to paste to adapt or stick to actual size, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can someone help or is it still possible? (seems like it should be) Does make sense? Thanks in advance!

An excellent question. I remember the time to make a document larger than my Clipboard until I found this wonderful setting.

Go to preferences > General > uncheck Resize Images in Place.

If you try to copy the pixels more then a layer you use copy merged copy not right. Copy copies pixels in the selected area in the active layer of the target, fusion copies copies of the composite.

    CTRL + C = copy

    Shift + Ctrl + C - copy merged

  • Copy and paste the PHP - code color is not sticking

I am kinda new to DW8 and very new to php. We are integrating php into our site and had a few coding work done for us. The guy who had it used the color codes that helps me understand what is happening. I am trying to copy part of the code in other files and when I stick in it, the attributes of color for the php do not glue. There is little color, so I don't know it is sticky little color, but it's minimal and not the same as the code that I'm sticking. • Want to copy and paste the names of files only, not the content

I have organized hundreds of files in several folders of dozens and that you must first create a list or map of all files.  I want only the names of files, not other thing.  I found some freeware that seems designed to do this, but am reluctant to download.  Can it be done without additional software?  If I can't do the regular windows environment, someone suggest what software is the easiest to achieve?

There are a lot of reliable freeware websites.  What program have you found, and this web site is on?

To do the work of the normal Windows environment, click Start > all programs > Accessories > command prompt and enter these commands:

    CD /d "" path ".
    dir/b/s >"" file
    ".

    where:

path = full path to the file
file = name of the file to write

For example, to create a list of files in My Documents and write it to a file named My Documents.txt :

    CD/d "C:\Documents and Settings\Utilisateur\Mes Documents"
    dir/b/s > "My Documents.txt."

The /s parameter lists the files in the selected folder and all its subfolders.  The omit if you want just the files in the selected folder. Boulder computer Maven

  • copy and paste sections

Is it possible to select and copy and paste a whole section of objects at the same time? For example, if my page is divided into quarters and I wanted four copies of the same thing after it is created in a section, can I copy it all at once, even if it's in layers? Or what I need to copy and paste layer by layer?

If your page elements are on different layers and you want to maintain the relationship of the layer:

-Go to flyout panel layer and select the option "paste remembers layers".

-Select all of the items that you want to duplicate

-Press the button Option button, click-and - dragging the items to the new position (shortened to copy - paste)

  • New to InDesign, with problems of objects vs just copy and paste.

I'm working on my first page of brochure layout in InDesign.  I am having some problems when trying to place some simple vector Illustrator in my Indesign document.  When I do a place in the file, the image loses its sharpness, but if I select the image in Illustrator then copy to HAVE and paste into InDesign, it looks great.  I don't know enough for all this knowledge if this will have a negative effect on printing, or any other aspect of the finished product.  When you use the copy and paste method I don't seem to be able to change original that the work doesn't seem to be "associated" with a file I but rather just work in the InDesign document, if I understand correctly.  I'm doing something wrong?

    Thank you

    Justin

Best practice is to always use place. You don't have to worry about how the image looks in InDesign - this is just a glimpse of the screen. You can improve its look a bit using the view > display performance > high quality display. Even then, what you see on the screen is always a preview and will not look as good as what's to print.

Remember that when you actually print, data from the original Illustrator, (not the preview) file will be used for output.

  • InDesign crashes suddenly then copy and paste from Illustrator...

This is a really recent thing that never happened before, it's bugging the hell out of me, and google offers no solution so far...

Everything works fine until I have switch from windows from Illustrator to InDesign document - when I try to paste the code barcode described in the InDesign document, it breaks down just InDesign.

The strange thing is, the two first bar code copied and pasted with zero problems. When I tried to paste the following, the crash has begun.

If you have already converted to outlines, there are no police who could be replaced or fail to be integrated in the placed art, so a user error cannot cause a problem that would not also be possible with a pasted graphic.

  • Copy and paste multiple objects in Illustrator to Photoshop in the form of multiple layers

I am working on an application and will stick in hundreds of groups from Illustrator to Photoshop.

Is there a way I could select all in my Illustrator file and when I paste it into Photoshop it sticks each object as its own layer (I need it to stay Smart Objects).

Here is a picture of what I'm working on: http://i.imgur.com/bSn7Qew.png

Each number is a group of several objects and I'd love to be able to copy all and paste into Photoshop as 100 layers rather copy and paste each number one by one.

In Illustrator make each unique in a compound shape. (use the menu in the pathfinder for this Panel.

Then export a PSD in Illustrator using editable character maximum. The forms will then form layers in Photoshop.

  • How do I copy and paste an object in the application?

If I draw an object, it is possible to copy and paste in the application? Or I have to put it on the desk and working there?

    Thank you!

    Hi Matty

It is only possible to 'paste' an object for the draw in the Photo layer (in other words, it cannot be changed). What you trying to do? Paste an object that you can continue to edit?
