Copy the folders (backup) of a connected USB device

Hi, is it possible to copy (or backup) the content of my (NMH305) mediaserver to a USB HDD connected directly to the media server? I tried the utility 'copy' in the file browser, but it will not copy in files on a connected USB device (by clicking on the "copy file" button does nothing).

Is the USB key to your aid in format NTFS or FAT32? If it is in NTFS format, then it could be the reason why you can not write to the USB plugged into the USB port of mediahub. Some linux-based devices do not work well with NTFS format. Try a FAT32 formatted drive into the USB port on the mediahub.

See you soon.

  • Need help connecting USB device

I am running VMWare Server 2 on Windows 7 64-bit. VM is Windows XP, my old computer virtualized with software that does not work under Win 7. I don't understand how to connect a USB device, my cell phone, on my system the virtual machine host. The drop-down features of the VMWare Console includes no USB or fact toolbar at the bottom right of the Console window. The management console has an entry for the USB, but the only choice is delete.

The documentation says "In the menu of controller USB in the toolbar, select the device you want to connect in the sector in the list hosts". I can't locate this list. Can anyone provide a picture?

The virtual machine has a virtual USB device in its hardware settings? If not, add a when the virtual machine is shut down. Also ensure that VMware Tools is installed in the virtual machine. If in doubt, please post (tie) file for the virtual machine's .vmx. I would also check that you have the VM hardware version 7 to version because it's better for the USB feature. The menu of the USB connect device should be available when the virtual computer is highlighted in the left pane of the console.

    Hello

You see yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager? Maybe a driver isn't installed properly in the system freezes.
In addition, I would try to remove the USB ports in Device Manager. After this restart your laptop and USB ports will be recognized again.

Have you tried a BIOS update? If this isn't the case, you should do it. Before you begin the update, close all running programs and make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

Last but not least try to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc. It only takes a few minutes and then you have settings to factory again! :)

  • Is AT200 - possible to connect USB devices?

    Hi all

I bought last week a Tablet AT200-100 (in Spain), and a few days ago I also bought an adapter for USB cable for it. I've seen (at least that is what I understood) that it is possible to connect devices to the Tablet (as a host).

Well, I tried with two cables different and two different pills (I went back one and got another), and I can't get it to work.
I hope you can help, maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I used a micro USB B (plug) to USB (plug) adapter, and I tried to connect a USB keyboard, mouse and an external hard drive. Everything seems to work, nothing doesn't appear on the screen, and nothing new appears in the file manager. The light devices has never lit at all.

Is it necessary to install something before? To activate something?
    I use a bad cable?

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

The AT200 seems to be equipped with a USB port of microfiber that support OTG technology.
Allows you to connect the key USB and HID (keyboard and mouse).
This port is USB 2.0 compliant.

To connect a USB (memory flash USB, keyboard or mouse), you must use a cable OTG (USB On-The-Go). The cable must be certified USB ON-THE-GO.
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-the-go

PS: this Tablet does not support a printer and as I know the operation of the port of USB devices was not confirmed for some USB devices may not work correctly.

  • When you connect USB device, explore crash in Vista

I have a slow USB device, with some of the big files on it. When I plug in and go on the drive in Explorer, the little light on the device starts flashing like crazy, and explore stops for a minute.

There is a 12 MB file there, which takes about a minute to copy.

I want to watch a 16 k file that takes seconds to copy.
Is there a way to stop explore to copy all the contents of the disc on every time I look at the device?

I disabled these services in efforts to alleviate this problem; Windows Search and Superfetch, ReadyBoost.

Unfortunately, deleting the file is not an option. I'm willing to take a pretty big success in the overall performance to avoid wait a minute each time that I plug.

I have windows vista ultimate SP2.

Thanks in advance for your help

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Portege A100 PPA10A - update the BIOS to boot from a USB device

    Hello

I have an old Portege A100, model: PPA10A-0002LP, but I can't seem to find this model on any Web site of Toshiba, closest I've seen is the "PPA10A - 0002 L'.

I am wanting to know if there is a BIOS update that will allow me to boot from a USB device.

The question I have is that I need to reinstall Windows, but the CD ROm cannot read disks.
This network PXE boot, but I'm new to this sort of thing and have absolutely no idea what to do here.

    Any help would be great,

    Thank you

    Hello

Portege A100 seems to be developed solely for the Australian market.
As you say it is a model number Portege A100 PPA10A - 0002L listed on the Australian page of Toshiba Portege A100 PPA10A-0002LP belongs to the same series which is PPA10A
So in my opinion, the BIOS should work too.

Anyway, I doubt that the BIOS update will add boot options.

Usually the BIOS supports booting from CD/DVD drive, drive HARD, LAN and USB FDD.
It should be possible to boot from a boot disk using a USB FDD drive.
I doubt you'd be able to boot from USB WEIRD since this Portege A100 supports an internal CD/DVD drive.

  • Interfacing with several unknown USB devices; all producing NMEA strings

    Hi all

Question about the peripheral USB interface and their associated drivers.

I have the obligation to build an application that interacts with the USB devices that produce NMEA strings. I have the library to parse NMEA strings, but I fight with interfacing with several unknown USB devices. When deploying applications, I know not all possible USB devices to use.

Is it possible to produce one driver who will accept any USB device strings?

Or, more likely, is there a way to get the LV to recognize a connected USB device and automatically find / install the driver like windows does and is it possible to do in a deployed application?

I had a trawl of the forums, but I've not found anything that specific.

Thanks, I really appreciate the help.

About the VI "set up the serial port", my problem is that the choice of COM port is in a separate menu (not directly related to the VI) and it allows all possible COM ports to be selected. That can be addressed.

I am not expecting an all-in-one solution but asked the question in case it was possible.

What I realized, is that for my specific condition to read strings from a USB device. It is likely to be sent over a serial connection. LV can handle this well and easily assuming the device has the installed driver / settings are available.

LV (and indeed any other program) will not work without a device driver / settings. In this case, parameters set must be found (error) / a USB RAW driver would need to be developed. Devices requirng a RAW USB driver would need a serious review to continue due to the time and effort required. All this effort is work inherited from the AIDS to navigation

I appreciate any help and I think I got the answer I was looking for! Thank you very much

  • Cooling M30X-125 fan turns very often if the USB device is connected

Can you help me please in order to limit the work with the connected USB device cooling fan?

    Hello Phil

I put t really believe that there are many options to do better. Of course if you use a USB device, the CPU usage goes over the limit of use and produce more heat.

Try to check all the processes running and finish a useless manually.

  • Satellite A30 does not start with the USB device connected at boot time

    Hello

I have a Satellite A30 and sometimes it does not start.
After turning on, not even the BIOS starts.
even if sometimes the BIOS starts, but the OS does not load.

I figured out that its related to USB devices connected at boot time.
If no USB devices are connected, it starts without a problem.
Even if the start-up is suspended, as soon as you unplug start it BIOS USB devices.
Its ok to connect USB devices later, once the system has started.
I disabled "removable devices boot" and "network startup."
just in case, but it makes no difference.

BIOS is version the most recent (1.70) and it comes up with all kinds of USB devices.
printer, mouse and (self-powered) external USB hard disk.

    Is this a known issue?
There is no known workaround solution?

    Hello

I put t know why this happens, but it has to do with the BIOS.
The same thing happened on my old laptop. I couldn't start my unit while the USB printer has been turned on and connected.
The only solution is to disconnect the external USB device during the boot process.

RSY you should check if the order of boot in the BIOS has been on the HARD drive first.
