Hi Drewett90,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it's a great place to find answers. You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you may receive a blue screen error 'igdkmd64.sys', but now you get a black screen and the caps lock flashes.  Here is a link to the computer does not start and the lights blink or the computer will beep.  Two beeps indicate a corrupted bios.

Here are documents on selected BIOS HP Application is damaged or missing and restore the BIOS to help this difficulty.

You can download the update to the bios of HP Pavilion dv6-6c51sa Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.

You can also try this.

At the start, press the F10 key to access the bios.

Please note on the bottom of the window F9 default installation please select and click Yes. He must try to load the default settings.

If you are able to load Windows again, I suggest The HP Support Assistant to search for updates running.

Please let me know the results.

  • Bios HP Pavilion DV6-1360EP problem

    Before you start, I don't know if I'm in the right section, so sorry to this topic.

    My friend has an HP Pavilion DV6-1360EP, he told me he did a Bios upgrade (but he has forgotten of me said if it install it successfully or if it failed) and now when you turn on the computer it gives 3 beeps if I am not wrong, the screen remains completely black, but you can still see the lights near SHIFT NUMLOCK and caps lock.

    I tried to do a hard reset and the key combination which is here, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833, I want to do part 2 using a usb key, but since I can't access the HARD disk I do not have the HP_TOOLS or the bios (.bin? extension) backup.

    Any help how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

    P.S. If any other information is needed I will answer you immediately.

    I tried something different and I think that I've made progress

    I downloaded this version and extract to the pen, to play with the platform.ini I found the name of the file fd must be the same name door in there something like:

    [Platform_Check]
    flag = 2
    PlatformName = 3627
    PlatformName2 = 3628
    PlatformName3 = 3629
    PlatformName4 = 3623
    PlatformName5 = 3624
    PlatformName6 =
    PlatformName7 =
    PlatformName8 =
    PlatformName9 =

    Believe in this, I made several copies of the FD file and rename them 3627, 3628, 3629, 3623 and 3624 and then copied these 3 times more and change they are extensions of .bin file to sync, ROM and the other without.

    In the end, I got 4 files with the same 5 name each.

    I just copied in pen incluiding others files (ie: insydeflash.exe) and tried with Windows + B method, it took 3 minutes, a beep every second, I assumed that the computer was looking for files on the right and then beeps decreased to 2 seconds, I think he was trying to install , after that he stop, after that I tried to start, but it was the same thing.

    In any case I think this method could work I just need to find the right version, how you think Zaq?

    While I wait for answer you, I'll try with the link that you gave me.

I've seen to recover the BIOS article (http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c02693833.) Where can I can get the files to the USB drive?

    Thank you very much

    Hi @Dawson8879 ,

    Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. It's a great site for information and questions. I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion Notebook dv6-3032sa and issues with the BIOS. I recommend to restore the default settings of the BIOS withthis documentby selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. This will have the BIOS check the connected equipment. Flashing the BIOS is something I do not recommend it could brick your system and stop all functions.

    Here is a link to options for recovery.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

    How can I find my model number or product number?

    I understand that since you had the laptop he had an overheating problem with a loud fan noise that causes freeze it.

    Recently, you have received the message that the CPU fan has stopped working and you couldn't hear the rotation of the fan to the top.

    You have removed the fan and checked, but the fan works.  It is possible that the connection was not safe in Notepad.

    Here is a link to an overheating and Auto Shutdown problem troubleshooting.

    Have you checked for an update of the bios of your laptop. You have provided the series of laptop you have, but not the exact model, so I'm not able to check it for you.

    You can run the Wizard to help HPin order to facilitate this process.

    Like a bios update has the potential to cause damage, you can contact HP technical support using this procedure.

  • Corrupt BIOS DV6-2010sa

    Hello

    I have a Pavilion DV6-2010sa here that flashes twice to indicate a failure of BIOS.

    I have already had this problem before with the same model of laptop and not got anywhere with it. A forum says that you must use a program to format a USB stick and install HP_TOOLS, another says you can rename the BIOS file to 3635.BIN, save it to a blank disc and the laptop will do the rest.

    I think that this machine has had its hard drive replaced at some point, because if I try the Win Key + B combo, it accesses the hard drive briefly but then turns off as if he goes in search of the old BIOS file and can't find it.

    So, I need to try with a USB but I need to know if I need to download a program of recovery UEFI, if I need to put the BIOS one file or specific folders etc.

    If someone could give me instructions on what to do and where to find things, it would be a big help, not only for me but for everyone else I've seen this problem who got stuck.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried the links you sent, but doesn't have much luck with the methods in them. I think part of the problem is that I don't know what version of BIOS of the laptop was at the forefront.

    I'm starting to think that this motherboard has expelled the metaphorical bucket.

    Thanks again for the help, information that you made me feel. I'll try it a couple more times before I left and simply replace the motherboard.

    Hello

    I have HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX and recently I was updating my drivers and software from the HP Web site for my laptop. Everything was done smoothly. As I updated my BIOS, I noticed that I was not able to switch between ATI Radeon 5650 and Intel HD Graphics, then I was also shocked that he wasn't showing a charger plugged into icon too. Although the battery was charging but didn't show any icon for it. I am running Windows 7. After a few days, my battery was went wrong and was not in charge. I bought the new battery from HP Store for my laptop, and then after a few days now he is dying too. My computer laptop suddenly stops on about 30% of battery remaining and battery does not charge. I arranged another charger and plugged, but once more. I gave the laptop to the service center local and got NO from them as well. They couldn't find the problem. After a lot of research and reading messages HP, I finally understood that it was the problem with the BIOS Update and Windows 7. So, out of curiosity, I installed Linux RedHat 6 on windows 7 and everything was OK. But I am a graphic designer for Linux is not a good choice for me. I want to just restore my BIOS in its original version of the default BIOS. Please kindly help me to get my original BIOS. I tried everything on my hand. I also ask HP to the original versions of the drivers like BIOS on its Internet site. My laptop is dying. Please, Experts, I need your kind assisstence. Thanks in advance

    @AbdulRaheem25

    Create the key USB HP Diagnostics of material 3-in-1 PC and boot to it.

    If you updated the BIOS from the old version will still be in a folder of your operating system. Use the method I proposed to get it back.

    If you are unable to read the instructions on the web page of Diagnostics of material for the HP PC, then I suggest that you pay someone to do it and create the flash drive for you.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-7029wm: BIOS display on an external monitor

    Hello

    The screen of my laptop has been broken for quite awhile now and I tried to find a way to be able to view the BIOS on an external monitor.

    I tried pressing f2 and f8, f10 or esc on startup and try using f4 to toggle the display without result.

    As a side note, when I press f10 if I try to press keys f later my computer makes a high-pitched beep, I don't know if this means anything but I feel like it is worth noting. I use an external keyboard, so I don't have a fn key, if all that matters.

    Finally, I tried to disconnect the front lcd screen but my attempts to disassemble my laptop in the past have not exactly well and I do not trust myself without ruining things more far.

    What I can do about it, or am I out of luck?

    I'm afraid you're out of luck when it comes to BIOS on external monitor display. The switch of the F4 does that once the computer is started. Same goes for making a recovery system - several have posted asking how to see recovery on external monitor... screens cannot be done.

    Your Service and Maintenance Guide should help with reeplacing lcd.

    I have a Pavilion dv6-1050us, and before the update of the bios as recommended by HP my charger would show in the taskbar as well as the battery is charging and it has been plugged in as well as the led at the front left side of the laptop.  Since the update of the bios load icon in the taskbar does not display and the led light that recharges the battery watch is no longer turns upward.  I know it's power goes to the battery because the battery shows 100% remaining and unload only after I unplug the power.  Is there a way to restore the bios to the previous version, even if the bios has been flashed by the HP program uses?

  • pavilion dv6 7031tx BIOS update

    I have a Pavilion DV6-7031TX laptop and I would like to add the latest version of the BIOS that I install windows 7 or 8 as UEFI. The bios that is currently on the laptop is dated 2013 and its number is F29. When I go to the support page, I get a listing for the f.0Une of the 2012 Version. When I check the windows list 8 it is a BIOS date of 2014 F.2D number.
    The BIOS located on the laptop is nowhere located? This machine is less than 12 months and it seems odd that this would have a version of BIOS HP does not list?

    I DID using the phone number and talked to someone who had NO IDEA what I was talking about and all I want is a simple answer, I do use install the BIOS listed for windows 8? (don't understand why HP has it filed under win8 just like win7 can also use UEFI environment).

    I hope that someone at HP knows the information I'm looking for?

    Hello

    It certainly isn't the first time I saw a laptop comes with a version of bios that will never appear as a download option - I do not work for HP, so I can't give you an explanation for this.

    Regarding the latest version of the bios of your laptop, F.2D, the cva file lists Windows 7 and Windows 8, which is what I expected.
