• Strange corrupted data in the transition to the DLL

  I'm working on an application that needs to communicate with a set of instrument drivers in a DLL.  Mostly it works very well, and I can transfer data backwards between LabVIEW and the DLL without any problem except for a very frustrating bug.  I created a small test DLL, with only the features of 'Set' and 'Get' and another function to print a report of the values within the DLL.  This library (with source code) and a set of screws similar to ones I use in the main application are attached.

  The device settings are stored in the DLL in a series of structures of C, for which I made corresponding clusters in LabVIEW.  Using the 'MoveBlock' function to transmit data to and from the DLL by reference, most of the clusters/structures transfer perfectly.  A same contains strings (arrays of char in c) which are complicated to deal with, but it works very well.

  Unfortunately, there is a single cluster ("General settings" in the attached screws) that contains a set of 13 digital items, mainly the type integer, with two double rooms at the end ("Acq. "delay" and "Hold after").  All integer types successfully transfer to the DLL, but double rooms are corrupt, usually appearing as a gibberish as #. # 315 e. When you use the Visual Studio debugger and setting breakpoints to check the values inside the DLL, they appear generally as denormalized (#DEN).  The corrupted values change when the entries of LabVIEW are changed - sometimes even the two values in the DLL change when only a single entry is adjusted.  In addition, when the data is passed to LabVIEW the correct values are retrieved, so it seems that the binary representation must be preserved in the transfer, even if it is somehow misinterpreted in the DLL.  Even more curious is that another cluster in the application ("Presets") contains also full and double types these values are all successfully transferred to the DLL, so it doesn't seem to be anything special about the double.

  I tried on two different computers (Win7, a 32-bit and 64-bit) and see exactly the same thing - same corrupted values are the same. If anyone has experience with something like this, or can offer suggestions, I'll be very grateful, because I am pulling my hair out over this.  I'm sorry the joint screws are so complicated - I wanted to keep as much structure as possible from the actual application.  The main 'TestLIB_SetAndGet.vi' VI sets all the values in the DLL, writes a text file with some of them of in the DLL and then copies the data to LabVIEW.  As mentioned above, the relevant parameters are "Acq. delay "and" Hold after ' cluster 'General Settings'. " Their values appear in the report on the 4-5 lines.  Also note that the double 'Preset event' and 'Preset time' in the 'presets' cluster are transferred correctly, appear on lines 17 and 16 of the report.

  I tried to install a Japanese game on my PC, and I had to change the system locale to Japan (in Japanese). However, after the reboot, I get this error:

  2. choose your language settings, and then click "next".

  I can't even start windows in Safe Mode or other startup options. When I tried to boot from my Windows disc, I can only install Windows, with no other options.

  I reinstalled Windows Vista 32 bit on my laptop Gateway using the OEM install cd that comes with it, but now, when I boot, I have the following window:

  Reading a similar post, I tried kites 3 methods of WinRE (Startup Repair, Bootrec /RebuildBcd, System Recovery) but they didn't work. I ran the WinRE Windows memory diagnostic tool and no error on my hard drive.

  I went to the gateway support site & also tried to access the recovery partition by pressing ALT + F10 to reboot, but it didn't work either. I tried pressing F8 safe mode, but I don't have the option "Repair your computer" that would have gotten me in the window of the gateway recovery management. I can't get in either safe mode, load a list of files and stops on Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys, then the message Windows Boot Manager window reappears again (see above).

  Reading another post, perhaps to copy files .nls of my installation on my hard drive cd would do the trick, but I don't know how to do this. I need the old data, I want to just my laptop to boot and run without having to buy a new hard drive.

  I set up an instance of Vista virtual machine and copied since all the
  *.nls in/Windows/System32 files and all *.fon files of the
  Windows/Fonts.  I then put on a USB key and inserted in
  the breakage of the machine.

  I didn't know that this WindowsRE could read USB drives. It does things
  easier. I then crushed the files on the area damaged with those of the
  clean installation and a reboot took me directly in Vista.

  To find out which kid are corrupt, we need to run a program to find the corrupted system files. If you use the drive, go to the prompt controls and cd to C:\Windows\System32. Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files usinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the files corrupt here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc if we can identify those who go there where replace them correctly.

  Let's see how these options work before considering anything else.

  Found an answer/solution here (incorporated in the first post). I already reset my date of Windows, but when I went into the BIOS, it was always made two days ahead. I have changed the date of the BIOS, and then downloaded and installed the BIOS update on the page of software and the driver to the address provided in the first post. So far, the date has not changed, but it was about 12 hours, so we'll see if it holds.

My colleague told me earlier that anything more than 30 or 40 GB start to be transferred correctly from external factors or for some reason any.

  These issues apply to eSATA or Usb3? I guess not, since these other methods are designed to transfer large amounts of data.

  Is this true? Is this due to material limitations? What is the recommended size of transfer? It's Windows XP, Vista or 7 limits?

  I have never heard of something like this before and have done some fairly large data movements in the past.  I would recommend using the program Robocopy in Windows Vista/Windows 7 (and available for Windows XP as a download add-on) to drag the move instead of type / move, given that Robocopy includes a number of features and security provisions that are not present in the case.

• When waking from sleep, the date changes to 2029

  Sometimes when my computer wakes up from being asleep, the date changes until 2029.  The month and day are the same, but the changes of the year.  I then have to set manually the date, the automatically sync with windows server doesn't fix it.  Its really annoying because then my anti-virus thinks its out of date as well as the update of windows.  My internet browser also has security due to date problems.  I can not understand what causes the date change 2029!

  A possibility is that the CMOS battery is out. Did you replace the battery to determine if it could be a cause?

  Your computer has a place where the Date / time and the card motherboard chipset settings are stored.  It usually has a stack in order to keep these "stored" settings when the computer is turned off.  If the date is the date the manufacturer, then is can be an indication of the battery is now "dead".  You should be able to get his change easily because it is just like a 'attention' to change the battery.

  A cmos battery problem would not result in an hour or so of difference, the whole date would have been changed.

  Differences in an hour or two are the result of time or a problem with the internet time synchronization settings.

  If the hour / date changes in the Bios setup pages theres a cmos problem, and if it changes from time to time a restart, first try to clean the cmos battery and contacts (scratched with a sharp knife)

  I'm trying to import old NEF files in Lightroom 4.4 and convert to DNG at the same time.  Previously it worked well.  A problem has developed a couple of days.  Rather than name the folder with the date, the photos were taken, the year has changed.  I don't know why he has changed, but the change has been consistent on several attempts.  The photograph were made in 2010.  Now when I import them, the date changes in 2011.  For example, a folder named "2010-18-05" changes to 2011-05-18.  The files in the folder also change the date of 2011.

  Not really sure why his is going on, but have you tried the stand alone DNG Converter. You can batch convert a whole folder of raw images and then put in LR, using import > Add.

  You insert the logic successor/predecessor for these activities. What, exactly, are these activities? If you want an activity at the start/finish on a specific date, you can always use a constraint.
