Could damage a disc hard if I stopped it when starting?

I heard that can damage a hard drive while it is written in.  However, while the computer starts him (the internal hard drive or boot from an external USB key), the computer is reading, so it should not be damaged, right?

Then the hard drive written to start somehow?

I edited my post a bit to make it clearer, I was a bit hasty.

I wanted to ask if a hard drive could be damaged during startup if you force a stop, for example by pressing the power a few seconds button, because I understand the disc or the ssd is read to and unwritten.

See you soon

  • Boot failure: REM could not detect 2 hard drives

Hello. I bought a HP Pavilion G6 series laptop (LX273EA #ABU) last year and he stopped to load correctly. When I click on "Repair (recommended)" I get an error messaqe saying "REM could not detect 2 hard drives. I tried to start in safe mode and it will not work.

The laptop is two months out of warranty, and the only support option I found is a phone call from £30 with no guarantee of assistance. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    You are welcome Michaelmcd85.

The 305 error indicates that the hard drive has failed. You will need to replace the hard drive.

This is an easy repair so I'll give you the information you need to fix yourself. It's your interview Guide &. It contains information on how to disassemble the laptop. The guide also contains information that will allow you to choose a replacement hard drive.

If you do not want to repair the laptop you can contact HP Support directly to the 1-800-4474-6836 if you are in the USA / Canada. If you are in another country, you must first visit HP's Support around the world to find the coordinates for your region.

I hope this information is useful.

  • Could not extend to hard drive

    Hello

    We have the following configuration:

RAID 5 on a SmartArray with 2 TB, Go 530 are still at large, it is formatted with a block size of 8 MB and 3.33 VMFS.

ESXi version: 4.0 U1 = & gt; 219382, that so the most common.

One of these virtual machines currently uses two hard drive:

    Primary:

    -type: thick

    -size: 120 GB

-maximum size: not available & lt; - huh, why?

    Secondary:

    -type: fast

    -size: 20 GB

    -maximum size: 555,67 GB

The mode options are not enabled for two hard disks.

Why it shows me what he (windows server with ntfs) "not available"? The option of resizing is also grayed out.

If I create a new machine, I could also create discs hard & gt; 200 GB.

    What's not here?

    Edit:

Oh and I forget, there's a snapshot available for this machine.

    Post edited by: pmatthaei

Are there snapshots for this VM? You cannot extend disk hard if the snapshot exists.

  • Can I insert disc HARD 160 GB in Satellite U200-181

    Dear friends!
If I insert disc HARD 160 GB laptop Toshiba U200-181?
    Version 3.40 BIOS

    Thank you!

    Hello

Hmmm, comment of the snipe is not 100% good.
If the size of the HARD drive is not supported BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive!

I think you could use a HD up to 120 GB, but I'm not sure of the larger sizes.
You should really examine it until you buy one.

  • How can I get around "could not initialize disc burning engine.

I just spent ages trying to fix "sorry, that a serious error has occurred which requires Adobe Premiere Elements stop.»  We will try to save your current project"

After trying I don't know how many different possible solutions, I hit on "access to McAfee Security Center and disable antivirus real-time analysis".

Phew, that made me work again - now I am trying to burn my movie, but I'm getting now "could not initialize disc burning engine.

There has been no problem so far, I've burned loads of movies before, without any problem.

I went into Device Manager and disabled the DVD recorder according to the few discussions restarted but nothing helps.  In Device Manager the DVD status is "this device is functioning."

What can I do to diagnose and fix this problem?  Any help would be appreciated as I am a little frustrated now have had two problems to the harnessed.

  • Removing the disc HARD on TecraA10-112

I have a Tecra A4 with XP Business. I am able to replace the HARD disk drive by unscrewing a plate under the laptop and in Exchange the HARD drive.

Also, I have a Tecra A10-112 with Vista business and would like to buy a new HARD drive can I install Windows 7 on when it will be available in October.

However trying to unscrew the plate on the A10, I couldn't remove the plate - screw unscrewed, but the plate wasn't - there seems to be a silver 'trick' on the plate which can be the cause of the problem.

HOW can I REMOVE from THE PLATE

A I can't find what is the HARD drive, so I can buy a new for Windows 7
B I can exchange as I can with the A4

    Hello

I can understand that you are not satisfied with the response from Toshiba, but you must understand why they send content. On Toshiba laptops, by a hardware upgrade can be done by the owner of the laptop and other authorized personal only.
As you can see HARD drive upgrade or replacement must be carried out by technicians.

For example: you try to replace the HARD drive and damage your laptop HARD drive connectors.
So what you can do to solve this problem? Who should be responsible for this and, at least, who should pay for the repair?

In the end, I must say that you can do with your laptop you have and if Exchange you it to HDD please do the following:

    1. remove the screws fixing the HARD drive cover
    2. Insert your finger into the slot and lift the cover of the HARD drive to remove
    3. remove the HDD from the slot and disconnect the HARD drive harness connector. (if the connector is located on the left moves the HARD disk to the right)
    4. remove the screws and separate the HARD drive and disk HARD holder

Take care to not press on top or bottom of a HARD drive. Pressure can cause data loss or damage to the unit. Please note that you do this at your own risk.

If you have any questions on Win7 let me know.

  • Pavilion p7-1490, saying: there is damage on the hard disk, to replace or repair

The seriousness with which I must take these warnings?  I need to replace the hard drive now, or the computer might just be hypersensitive to a glitch?  Could the 10EZEX WD hard drive potentially months or years more without a major problem?  (The computer is only 16 months old.)

Hard drives are not 'rich' as they did and he must now tend to fail early. The reader could last for hours, days, weeks, months or even years... There is simply no say. If you want to have a reliable computer and do not want to take the risk of data loss, your best choice is to replace the disk as soon as possible.

In this case, we can check if the HARD drive is not defective.

However you also try to access the BIOS and could check if the HARD drive has been recognized and listed in the BIOS.
To access the BIOS, you will need to press ESC while turning on the laptop.

  • removing the disc HARD dv4t-5300

Oops someone showed me where the maintenance manual is on this.  Thank you!

I just bought a laptop HP dv4t-5300 series.  I removed the small bottom plate to find that there are no screws to remove the disk hard so that I can put in my drive SSD OCZ Vector (w00t).  Dv6t-7300 there is two screws and disc hard this spell.

I can't find any on HDD removal textbooks and when I called technical support HP says the hard drive can't get out and it is a particular size for a SSD will not fit.  The hard drive is a standard 2.5 "and I think that the tech knew what he was talking about.

Anyone would be able to seat me with where to find a manual or something on this computer?  Usually youtube or some forum or Internet HP site it would, but I can't find anywhere, anything on this computer again.  Sometimes, you have to remove the keyboard in order to install things but I don't want to start taking everything as part of discover that it's just a hidden screw or something.

    Thank you!
