CPU Meter

What does the CPU meter? What does the acronym for CPU?

The CPU is the central processor. You can think of it as the brain of your PC. The CPU will have to work hard (high CPU usage) the more programs and other activities, it must work.

For example, if your PC does nothing then the CPU usage may be as low as less than 1%. However, if you have several programs running, it will be much higher.

All processors are not the same. Some operate at high frequencies than others and are therefore faster. In addition, it is possible to have 'multi-core"CPUs (and most modern PCs don't) which are in force faster for slightly different reasons.

  • The CPU meter on the dysfunctions of transport bar

At the far right of the Transport bar is a CPU meter. When a project is first opened on LPX, this gauge is the most crazy. It takes about 30 to 60 seconds and sometimes more. During this time, I am unable to play any project - the sound stutters. There is nothing I've been able to do to eliminate (or same gear up) this anomaly.

    (a) what could be the cause?

    (b) how could this problem be solved?

    Thank you

It's perfectly normal: your content (sampled instruments, inflected tracks, audio files) is loaded into the RAM disk, using all available CPU power. The only thing that you can "do" is less sample content or less flexed titles. Or simply wait 30 to 60 seconds.

I sometimes play a project that takes over again, but that's useless, the project will stutter and he will miss notes instrumentsa who are not entirely responsible.

It may also take longer if you have other applications open (webbrowsers) because the contents of the RAM may need to be swapped to and from the disk.

Opening & downloading a project of average size (with an already high logic) just took me 1'25 "."

Two more $ to speed up: increase the RAM or use SSD (s) to store your recording and storage of the content of the sample.

  • Why is my cpu so high?

Hi everyone, for about 3 weeks my CPU usage is very high, 100% most of the time. I did not more changes to my computer lately, and I've downloaded something. I have a lot of memroy on my computer and when I pull up the Task Manager there are programs that are high on the CPU meter. My computer has been running hot, however, and I bought a cooling block. It help cool down a bit, but the best solution is to put my knees on the top on the top a fan goes to full power. I ran MalwareBytes, Avast!, Mcafee and no virus and malware do appear. And I also noticed it there was not any major slow downs. My computer is a HP Pavilion g6, Windows 7 64-bit, processor intel core i3, I have 4 GB of RAM with 3.80 of it still usable. Is there a connetion between my laptop being very hot and one such high utilization of the processor (even when I do nothing)? Help, please. I don't know what to do and I don't want to take it to the store. Thank you!

Programs that use a lot of CPU are as follows: svchost.exe and mcshield.exe. Can I leave them?

They are not finished. Svchost.exe is a component system that hosts different services. If you terminate svchost.exe, Windows will reboot and once again the service is started. mcsheield.exe is the process of the McAfee antivirus program. Stop, it will stop to protect your PC.

And since the cooling reduces the processor load, try to check the internal fan. Blockage by dust in the heat sink also reduce the air circulation thereby reducing the cooling capacity. Replace the entire cooling system, if necessary.

  • Firefox 14 and JDownloader2 question

    Jdownloader2 and Firefox issues

    Hello!

About one a month ago I met up with the odd bug or a cut of it.

When I download with JDownloader2 without browsing with Firefox, everything is ok.
When I start Firefox, and I start to browse the internet, Firefox cannot open the requsted pages. I get 'bad request', "secure connection cannot be established (on SECURE pages!)", "the connection was reset", instead of the requested page, I see the html code of the page or Firefox wants to download or open the page on the strange way. After a while Firefox is unable to connect anywhere. Even the bar of forecasting tools and Xmarks earns the "lost connection" or "connection failed."
After a while JDownloader will be 'loose' the connection also. His problem of home considered or connection problem with guests.
After the closing of the JDownloader2 I close Firefox, therefore no visible window of Firefox or JDownloader seen. BUT, if I sort of relunch of Firefox, it reports that Firefox is already running, and it must be closed first.
I studied this with Process Explorer and saw that Firefox is really run like Java.exe too. More I couldn't kill an any of them, because access was denied.
I closed all remaining ports of the JDownloader2 and Firefox, but they process might not be killed anyway.
I meant the time I noticed, that Windows Explorer has slowed (who has had a total of 5-10 seconds!). The CPU meter gadget showed some strange use of the CPU as 09% 02%, etc.
I have to restart my PC to solve this problem. Before a month ago, I had no such problems. Kindness and help me solve this problem, please!
    I already have:
    1 uninstall and reinstall Java 7update 5
    2. Uninstall and reinstall JDownloader 2
3.I have checked the Firewall ZoneAlarm Extreme Security of Firefox, Java, Jawav 10.1.079.000.Every instance and JDownloader 2 has unlimited access to the internet. They are "Super reliable" process. There is no web or similar analysis to turn off. Anyway, I didn't changed anything until this problem occurred.
Everything is happaning only with Firefox-JDownloader2 combination.
    I have:
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 32 bit
    14.01 Firefox
    2 jdownloader
    7Update Java 5
    AMD Athlon II X 2 240, 2.80 Ghz
    4 GB OF RAM

I was suggested by JIAZ(JD support), it's matter of firewall/av typical. Kaspersky has this before and AntiMalwareBytes. If I'm not mistaken, ZA AV engine is Kaspersky, so I study the problem of the site
I uninstalled ZoneAlarm Extreme Security 10.1.079.000 and tried to download with JD2 and browsing with Firefox 14.01. I had only a few times that Firefox wants to download or open the page on the strange way, but let say, it works very well with JD2 and Java 7.5.

I decided to upgrade ZoneAlarm Extreme Security 10.1.079.000 ZoneAlarm Extreme security 10.2.074.000.
So far, everything works fine! I can download with JD2 (Java 7.5) and browsing with Firefox 14.01 at the same time!

    In addition:

    Version history:
    ZoneAlarm version 10.2.074.000
Added the: location of Italian language
    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version 10.2.073.000
Optimized: Installer, installation of component order
    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version 10.2.072.000
    Added: 14 Firefox Support
Fix a problem: fix configuration Chrome
Fix a problem: ZA Free, easy to use Messaging improvements
    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version 10.2.068.000
    Added: 14 Firefox Support
Added the: stop all the option of internet activity
Added: Snooze AV or firewall for 5 minutes option
    Improved: Toolbar security
    Improved: Antivirus engine
    Improved: Installer
Fix a problem: Riskware options usability
Fix a problem: other improvements and corrections

It was my fault! Sorry! Thank you for your time and effort! Maybe this question will also help someone else...

  • Qosmio X 300 - Windows shows too little RAM

    Hi all

I just bought X 300 with 4 GB of memory. When I looked at the "physical memory" in Windows Task Manager, it has only physical 1789 MB with 1056 Cached. It is this normal?

I also installed "All the CPU Meter" for Windows sidebar... it shows the same thing.

Is it true that if you set your virtual memory to a different drive (c:, not), it will improve performance.

    Thanks for your help.

Windows XP and Vista 32 bit don t support 4GB RAM as Akuma said.
    Why?

Well, the physical address space is used to treat more than just RAM. It s also used to treat all of the memory and some records presented by devices. So if your laptop or computer is configured with the maximum physical memory, some of this memory will be unusable because some of the physical address space is mapped to other uses.
The following components are in need of memory address space:
-PCI devices integrated these network adapters
    -Graphics cards
    -Sound cards

However, to use 4 GB or more RAM, you must install a 64 bit as 64 bit Vista OS.

  • Problem with hd satellite M40-155 (PSM40) & Seagate Momentus 7200 RPM

    Hello to all Toshibians,

I recently upgraded from hd (origin: Toshiba 100 GB 4200 RPM) in my M40 - 155 (PSM40) satellite with a Seagate Momentus 100 GB at 7200 tr/min/8 MB cache.

I work in the area of music production and after much advice I realized that I needed a faster HD to maximize the number of audio track (working on projects of audio tracks of 40 +).

This Seagate hd has been installed in a computer pro shop.

When you go to work, after you have reinstalled all applications, I noticed everything was surprisingly faster navigation, at the opening of the applications in CPU resources that I use for music production, BUT there, I had some real wicked behaviors of the computer: BEFORE the new installation of hd, I managed to open very large projects, I work currently on and AFTER the installation of the hd , I noticed the reading has been bit sluggish UNTIL I have NOTE WITH the AUDIO-APP OWN CPU METER THE CPU A VA WILD AFFICHANT QUICKLY CHANGE the VALUES OF the USE CPU 25 to 85% to 40% to 99% goingfrom NOT STOP CAUSING the INNACURATE READING.

I tried ALL audio applications I need to see if it was not related to a particular program, but NO: the problem is general.

(I did every possible scan with windows tools, my bios is up to date, I do not have the virus, there is still a lot of space on the disk, I defragmented the hd...)

So, I have a HD quality much faster and decreases performance?

I already e-mailed seagate, but am waiting for a response.

This situation is urgent, because it is the only computer I have and use professionally on a daily basis.

What could be the problem? Anyone of you has experienced a performance problem during the hd upgrade? Is there something I could do to fix this? Is there a program that could solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Best regards

    saxophonick

    Hello

Sorry, this is a very special issue.
I can only suggest what's wrong or why it occurs.

The fact is that the new HARD drive is much faster. In this case, the CPU must manage more data and processes.
Well, I put t know if it helps to solve your problem, but I recommend you change some settings in the performance options.
Go to control panel and system. Choose the Advanced tab.
Check in the second Advanced tab that the use of planning and the memory of the processor is assigned to programs. In addition, you can check the virtual memory settings.
You can increase virtual memory, or you can set it to the size of the managed system.

Are all this advice, and you should try it but I m not 100% sure if this will solve your strange problem

  • Windows Update Code 800706BE error

Windows Update does not list the updates it needs.  She returns an error code 800706BE - Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Also, I constantly get pop - ups that say 'Windows Modules Installer has stopped working".

I tried to install a stand alone Windows Update Agent and get the error "fatal error" when installing.

    Help!  Any suggestions?

I had a problem with the installation of Office 2010 by hanging up.  I right click on computer, then selected to manage services and stop the print spooler service.  Installation ended quickly after that.  I met the same problem with office 2010 SP1 update.  Again, I've had to stop the print spooler service and installed ok.  Not really sure why except that they are arguing the CPU resources (CPU meter gadget has been set during installation has failed).

  • Problem with Speedstep on laptop - Lenovo L412

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo L412, just bought two weeks, with a processor i-3 370 m. at the beginning, the laptop has been installed with W7 Pro 32 bit and speedstep worked perfectly well, where when the load is high, he would show race 2.4 MHz and so low-power about 796 MHz, it ranged from there. However, I wanted to upgrade to Pro 64-bit, so I did a clean, installed all the normal Windows updates, and now includes installation does not seem to work, it is always well a 2.4 MHz constanti, running at the upper frequency. I all CPU Meter and CPUZ to surveillance, that's happened since I did the complete reinstallation of the operating system. I made changes to the BIOS, and there is nothing the Speedstep to work. I tried all power plans, even to change a setting advanced, several things with battery and AC, nothing helps. What can I do? I mean it says no problem yet, but I find a problem, when you constantly run at full 2.4 MHz. In CPUZ, the speed of the Bus shows 133.0 MHz w / 18 multiplier.

Here is a screen shot of what I speak:

    http://img848.imageshack.us/i/L412.PNG/

There's always this frequency, do not change any power plan that I use.

Update: I reinstalled the original system settings, with recovery disks I made, with W7 32 bit and the Speedstep works perfectly fine, but when I clean install with W7 64 bit, it wouldn't work, any suggestions? What can I do here to run W7 64-bit Pro? My system came with a GB of RAM and I get only 3 GB now.

  • How can I find which program works in the background

Using the CPU meter, I see the procent of the CPU usage. Even though all programs are closed, the use is still 10 to 30%. This means that some of the programs installed is still running (perhaps updating auto or something else). I'm looking for who is he?

    [Moved from comments]

Start the Task Manager and look at the Scriptures in the process tab (click the name image CPU to sort)

Even with closed programs several background processes are running

  • Control / limiting the use of the processor

Operating system is Windows XP PRO with SP3 installed; specific computer is HP 8100 Elite w / Intel I5 VPRO processor; 4 GB OF RAM.

Are there options in Windows XP PRO, where the user can specify 'how' CPU usage is allowed, either by individual program or total usage?

If so, where they are updated?

I looked into different parts of logic; and can not find a way to do this.

Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

The use of the processor of the computer never seems to be "maximized" (rarely exceeds 30-50%) and I wonder if some setting somewhere preventing this use.

I ran MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and ESET. and no malicious software is present.

Another thing to consider is that if you have a quad or a dual-core CPU, a single task tends to operate on only one heart.  So if it takes 100% of the CPU on one of four cores, the CPU meter will result in a reading of 25%, assuming that the other cores are idle.

Instead of the Windows Task Manager, you might want to try [freeware] Process Explorer.  It gives you much more information on what is happening in your computer.  Once you use it, you will never return to the Task Manager.

  • Windows Update indicates that do nothing but updates, troubleshooting says error 0 x 80070057, tried several solutions but still not working

I have an old HP 6730 b with Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit with Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.40 GHz which I had more than three years.  It was working fine until a week or so; now the CPU meter is constantly at least 50% and random spikes to 100%, freezing of the computer for a few seconds.  I had a similar problem with CPU spikes earlier but three weeks ago, I took apart and blasted the propeller with the compressed gas to empty the dust of the processor fan and which seems to solve the problem - no more spikes.  I haven't installed anything or changed settings - I just used this laptop for basic - internet, Excel, Outlook, Word functions.

First, I scanned for malware with Malwarebytes - no infection found.  Then I checked the Windows Update and it said I had about 20 updates and 180MB of updates to install.  Tried to install, but after an hour and 20 minutes, it always says download updated, 0% complete.  Updates failed to install.  My last successful update a little over a month ago (11/03/16).  Sidenote - my update of Windows has always been set to "check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install".  However a year ago he stopped advising me when updates were available.

I spent half a day in searching the Internet for solutions.  Among the things I've tried:

    • Microsoft FixIt 50123
    • Solving the problems of diagnosis of Windows Update
    • Windows6. 1-KB947821-v34 - x 64
    • Subinacl
    • Reset.cmd
    • WindowsUpdateAgent-7, 6 - x 64

Even after doing all these things, when I run the troubleshooting Windows Update Diagnostic tool he always says "Windows Update error code 0 x 80070057 (2016-04-17-T-11_03_43A).»  The date given in this error (2016-04-17) which seems to correlate with when I stopped doing notified that updates are available.

When I go to the Task Manager, the affected SVCHOST that takes 50% of my CPU does not initially - I have to click "Show processes from all users" in order to see the svchost process that is constantly take up 50% of my CPU.  When I right click the process and choose "Go to service (s)", these are services that are highlighted - they are all 320 in the PID column:

    • AeLookupSvc
    • AppInfo
    • Browser
    • EapHost
    • gpsvc
    • IKEEXT
    • iphlpsvc
    • LanmanServer
    • ShellHWDetection
    • SENSE
    • Annex
    • Themes
    • ProfSvc
    • Winmgmt
