CQ2909E0 Desktop freezes - Windows 7 install splash screen

Hello

I am installing Windows 7 on a HP Compaq CQ2909E0 desktop PC, but the PC hangs when starting the DVD.

Shows the text "Starting Windows", but it freezes before that appears the Microsoft logo.

The office comes with a home edition of Windows 8, but cannot be used as this PC is supposed to be a member of the domain.

Install Windows 8 gives the same result.

Start secure in the BIOS is disabled, which is no problem.

Any idea?

If the fix was just to activate the inherited in the UEFI.

  • Shortcut to open a program in a new window in the splash screen?

I find it rather annoying that windows 8 refuses to open a new instance of a desktop app when I click again in the start screen.   If I for example several 'guests order', I have to go to start, right click on command prompt, click Open in a new window.   It's quite embarrassing.   I don't see that there is an option to remove this restriction.  It may be wise for the Metro style applications open 1 single instance, but it is not appropriate to impose this restriction on desktop applications.

Can someone give me a registry hack or an option of control panel to fix this annoyance in the splash screen?
For now, I added programs like a toolbar that is separate in the taskbar of office, so that I can open multiple instances without using the start screen.  For every reading, you can do so by right-clicking the taskbar, uncheck the lock all bars of tasks, do a right click again and click on toolbars-> new toolbar and drag on new program shortcuts.

When you open an office application, an icon for this app will appear on the desktop taskbar.

Click on icon and select application name, near the bottom and this will open a new instance of the application.

Based on the following threads, this error seems to be related to be USB drivers. The recommendation is to disable USB in the BIOS:

  • How can I get default Windows desktop at startup instead of the splash screen

When I start my computer in Windows 8, how to go automatically to the desktop instead of the start screen?  I prefer much the office.

Other than that, I bought the upgrade and installed the 64 bit version and everything works well and exceeded my expectations.  I upgraded from Windows XP (32 bit).  I actually did a new installation on a new hard drive. It's the only thing that I find annoying, so far, that and the START button is no longer on the desktop.  I find it annoying as well.  I really like how fast IE10.  I don't seem to have any issues that other people have, no doubt due to the new installation on a new hard drive.

By design, the Start button is gone in Windows 8. Watch Classic Shell (FREE) or debut8 (free trial for 30 days then $5) as workaround to this problem. Both can be configured to display the office compared to the splash screen...

My Gateway FX6831-03 will not be able to start Windows.  Just shows the gateway splash screen, then freezes.  OS is updated to current MS Win7-64 bit-w/all and virus/malware protection., Went over 4 days vacation, and when I tried to turn it on, it should display the gateway splash screen, then stop. can't hear anything that happens on the inside.

Problem solved!  An external hard drive, powered by a separate power supply, was not turned on, but it was plugged into a USB port. When the computer "seen" this cross-town 'dead', he just stop - but no message appears problem.

The good part?  Vaced out all the dust and replace the bios battery.  [I'm good for at least another 2 years;-]

There is a computer on which he worked.  Put in a new drive, because I wanted to reuse it as a home server.

    They both

    Hello Jeff_Myers,

    Thank you for the question!

It is disheartening to know that have problems you with Windows 7. As I understand it the computer crashes at start Windows after the Installation of Windows 7.

    Method 1:

Disconnect or disable any external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, sound card and graphics card etc.) except the mouse and keyboard and then boot\start the computer.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.

Method 2: Perform the Windows 7 installation disc Startup Repair by using the Windows recovery environment.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

Answer to us if you are having problems with Windows 7 or any other issue of Windows, and I'd be happy to help you again and try to correct the problem as soon as possible.

    Good day!

    Hope this information helps.

  • Lightroom CC freezes on splash screen

I've seen a lot of posts on Lightroom CC crashing, but my problem seems to be different.

I installed Lightroom CC through the CC app.  When I run the application, he asks me to update my catalog.  Once the dialog box "Update Catalog" ended, he launched Lightroom, my catalog appears in the background and then it hangs on the splash screen.  If I click anywhere, it turns black behind the splash screen and the program says it's not answer.  Here is what I tried:

-WAITED a long time to see if she was doing something

    -restart the computer

-uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom CC (on another hard drive)

-leave the creative and revived cloud app

-offline (via preferences) and recorded in creative cloud

-a started a new catalog instead of updating a current catalog

    -reset to zero/trash preferences

No matter what I do, it freezes on the splash screen.  Can anyone help?

    I use Windows 8.

After 2 hours talk time of support with a remote employee access to my computer, he found that it is a problem with my user account.  If I create a new user account in Windows, Lightroom works fine.  So now I can spend the rest of my afternoon trying to figure out how to transfer all my settings to a new account.  Thank you Adobe!  >:(

  • Satellite Pro A300 - 1 G 0 - freezes on splash screen

Running Windows 7, the laptop sometimes does no more further than the Toshiba screen, you can even not in the BIOS. I tried to update the BIOS, but without any modification.

He exhibts only this behavior 1/5 restarts. The only resolution is to hold down the power button to turn off, and then remove the battery to perform a hard reset.
    Any solution would be welcome.
I think that it worked well even for an upgrade to Windows 7, so I don't know which is relevant.

    Peter

    Hey Buddy,

If your laptop freezes for the Toshiba BIOS screen, that it has nothing to do with installed software and the OS. After turning on your computer laptop it is a power on self test (POST), so it seems to be a hardware malfunction that your laptop is blocked here.

You plug in external devices to your laptop as printer, external HARD drive, etc. If so, remove them and test it again.

In the worst cases, you need help from an authorized service provider. Guys can check and replace the defective hardware.

    Hi ctgreen

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

You can try the following and link methods under each method for more information on the same and see if one of them solve the problem.

    2. If your computer has multiple operating systems installed, use the arrow keys to select the operating system that you want to start using the last good known Configuration, and then press ENTER. Windows will then resume starting normally.

  • Windows XP splash screen vanishes

My desktop runs on Windows XP service pack 3. No recent new software.
For the last 2 days when I boot the Windows splash screen (black background) runs, and at the point where it would usually turn into blue background (welcome, loading settings...) the screen disappears completely. No option is possible except reboot or turn off.
Succeeded in getting going to start asking you to use the "last known good configuration".
Rather than continue with this as a routine, I did a system restore, restore a few days ago point was good.
It seemed to work if I do not remember if I rebooted it to test it.
Today, that commissioning has the same problem. What happened to the point of restoration that I used? Is there something better, that I can do?
    Thanks for help.
