First of all, unplug the AC adapter & battery then press and hold the power button on the unit for 30 seconds then check switch on/off the unit.

Go into Device Manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit automatically installs the driver.

Try to run the system restore to the date where the unit was working fine.

  • SPDIF out on Compaq CQ40-122AX

I have a Compaq CQ40-122AX, running VISTA home basic sp1.

There IDT High Definition Audio built in and a HDMI output. He also says that it will be an available SPDIF output using a HP/Dock. Now, I'd like to use the SPDIF output, but I am reluctant to by the docking station for £200 as advertised on amazon. In the options for the Soundsetup there is a definition available also SPDIF.

IDT HD Audio Codec driver version: 1.0.5934.0

For IDT HD Audio DEVICE driver version: 6.0.6000.16386

    Only the input/output Audio/video are:

    VGA

    HDMI

    Headphone 3.5 mm

    Microphone 3.5 mm

I had a browse autour and found that some HP models spdif output available via the Jack 3.5 mm as optics, when the adapter is plugged it activates an LED inside and that it moves the optical signal to the Toslink cable.

Adapter cable and optical at Maplin

My question is, the SPDIF is accessible on my model of laptop CQ40-122AX with this configuration without the HP docking station or could there be another way? Since there is not in there, it must be possible to access it somehow, and the docking station just seems too expensive to make sense.

    Look forward to hearing responses.

    Hello

MS-UAA for SP2 (required with a reboot before the Audio driver and Modem) here

MS-UAA for SP3 (required with a reboot before the Audio driver and Modem) here

Here you will find the wire with the audio drivers CQ40 model.

There is also information (note) written by Mariza any problem with sound after reboot. Then it can disappear.

If you have this problem. Don't update the Bios with this link which is posted here.

First write your p/n number which is on your computer and looks like thishere.

We must be sure that the Bios is made for you. Wrong version can cause big problems (damage your laptop). Example: You start your computer.

When you post here p/n. I will give you a good link for your Bios or simply to give that information to Mariza in this thread that I gave you.

I think mine is also SATA... Thanks in advance for the answers and help...

I'm not in the same impression that you have for Vista, in some points, I have found that VISTA has its own advantages.

Given that your model has been built for VISTA, some functions may not work IE adjusting brightness (Fn + F7 or F8)

However, you are not alone, many CQ40 lowered their laptop.

If you want for XP drivers try the following steps.

    _____

Make your Vista recovery cd/DVDs if you have not yet discovered it here

Your model should ICH9 sata driver sliptreamed in the installer CD of XP. If you did it right, you'll BSOD error.

Use Nlite to sliptream ICH9 sata driver.
A good guide for driver sata sliptream, here

Note: do NOT use this guide sata driver, your sata driver is below ICH9.

    ICH9 sata driver,

The pilot lies in iaAHCI.inf and is called ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, here

    Download nLite, here

Some suggestions to avoid problems when installing XP:

1 try NOT all wake sata drivers, use only ICH9--> ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller

    2. use of XP - SP2, much easier to use since many XP drivers were built based on XP - SP2.

3 burn the installer of XP slowly and do not use the maximum speed, sometimes it create errors

    4. choose a reputable support CD, not the one at little cost.

Audio installation was the hardest part, since the incompatibility of the BIOS.

Please update your BIOS before installing MS - SAU, at least on F.12, here

F.24 is the latest BIOS until this date.

If you're able to pair your bluetooth with your Mac speaker, but your Mac continues to stream audio from its built-in speakers, you might check to see which device is selected in now Option while you click on the Volume control () in your menu bar.
