CQ61-312SA: Presario CQ61 does not boot, black screen.
In setting in motion:
- LEDs LED power supply front and button cases NIP
- Wireless LED lights
- Above the touchpad LED lights continuously
- LEDS near caps lock and above paved digital flash streaming
- No sign of drive activity, no fan noise, the screen remains black.
Looks like it is not booting in the BIOS.
However, I tried:
- Remove the battery, button to power down etc.
- Remove each RAM module and Exchange.
- Remove the HARD drive
NB symptoms are the same when the power supply plugged in or not.
I believe that the flashing LEDs are important but I the only references I can find are telling me to contact the HP Support.
Can anyone tell if this is likely to be a failure of a repairable component.
I was hoping to identify the component that prevents the laptop to even start the BIOS but I guess I'll have to just it's bin.

Tecra S1 - does not boot, black screen
When I turn on my Tecra S1, fan starts, dvd starts up but screen stays black and hd light does not illuminate. If I press F8 or F12, or sometimes even if I do not support what it is, I've heard three beeps. I disconnected the battery, HD and RAM, but it seems that the same thing.
What can I do to detect and debug the problem? Thank you
Hey Buddy,
I found and interesting article on the Web from Toshiba site:

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv2000, it came with windows vista, so I don't have a boot disk. When I try to start it, it will say "windows loading files...". "with a bar, once the bar is loaded it will say microsoft Corp. (with the copyright symbol) and another bar with a bar made up of three small bars of loading through it, once that is done, it will show a black screen. I have installed recent updates and I can't access the restore mode or security system.
Hello
The possible fix is the same that you can not boot the system currently.
You need to make a computer repair/restore on another disc, borrow a friends Windows disk.
or buy one from the manufacturer of the system. See the methods in BOLD above which also shows how
a repair/recovery disk which is bootable. It may not be repairable by a user and the help of a real store of the computer (no leeks and peaks at)
a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or Support from HP is required.Rob Brown - MS MVP - Windows Desktop Experience: Bike - Mark Twain said it right.

Hello
1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
2. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?Start the computer by using the Microsoft Windows XP recovery console, and then perform a check disk on the file system.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Select the required options to start the computer from the CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.
2. once the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3. If your computer is configured to dual-boot or multiple boot, select the appropriate installation of Windows XP.
4. When you are prompted to do so, type the administrator password and press ENTER. NOTE: In Windows XP Home Edition, the administrator password is blank by default.
5. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER: cd system32
6. type the following command and press ENTER: chkdsk /r /p
7. remove the Windows XP CD in the disc drive.
8. Type exit to restart your computer.Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

HP 255 G2 does not start->; black screen (my fault)
Here's the situation:
Purchased a HP 255 G2 (windows 8.1) to be used with Linux Mint.
I know that I have to enable the legacy mode in the BIOS and disable secure boot. I forgot the last part (disable startup secure).
Now I can't do anything with the laptop, it does not meet the ESC or F10 to enter the BIOS to correct my error.
I also have a USB stick with flash of the BIOS, but it does not boot from the USB key to reflash the BIOS.
Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do next? Picked up by HP for repair?
Hi Fd1sk,
Your HP 255 G2 is a commercial product and get your question more exposure, I would say post in the trade forums. Here is a link to the forum Commercial Notebook.

Re: NB200-110 can not boot - black screen
Hi all!
I have a toshiba nb200-110 semi-bricked: can I power on it, I can surf via the bios, I can pass any setting but I can't start!
Indeed, after the bios, I have black screen.
If I try to go to the boot menu (f12) I always black screen! What can I do? BIOS version is 1.20.I have created a disk of crysis with the latest bios (2.10), it seems flahs porperly but upon restarting, I always BIOS 1.20
sSorry for my bad English
PS I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE RESET THE BIOS WITH THE JUMPER (BECAUSE THEY FORGOT THE PASSWORD).
BEFORE THIS OPERATION, THE NETBOOK WORKED WITHOUT PROBLEMS!Hello
You speak for themselves
What these say that the laptop was already send to ASP?Have you checked if the video output was not set to external monitor?
Please check if the FN + F5 keys that toggle between internal and external monitor. If it does not then I would recommend contacting ASP guy that removed the BIOS password I say everything was ok before the BIOS password has been deleted maybe they changed something in the BIOS or BIOS itself
I wish you good luck

My computer is old - 1 year and 25 days to 25 days outside the warranty period.
Thank you.

Satellite M60-170 does not start - black screen
I have toshiba M60-170, before it was perfect, but now I don't know what is happening?
When I try to start my computer just for 2 sec, everything is good, then the fan of sounds of the CPU and the screen is black and the stop of HARD drive.
So everything is stop!
I try to start again but still does not. Some body told me that it is the motherboard!
Please, someone tell me what is happens with my beautiful laptop?Thank you
It does not sound good friend :(
But let's try this; Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter for about 20 min.
After this short period of time connect the two parts, and try to start Notepad. If it doesn t help the chances are that your hardware is defective. Like other guys said, it could be a fault of the motherboard or something different like CPU, memory modules.
I can speculate on failure.I think that you don't have many choices. In your case, you should contact the ASP in your country for a control of the laptop.
Good bye

Satellite L850D does not start - black screen
Ok.. My wife L850D had problems with black screening started upward after the toshiba screen.
I ran a few different utilities, including a reset... it all started about 3 weeks after the victory 8.1 upgrade.
Rang technical support who kindly informed that because we put 8.1 on that he cancelled the guarantee. (btw nice guy)
Then refused to help. And went and reloaded Win 8 of my happens, just to see if it was a problem of hardware, software.
(yes I know, but it must have been only temp). It starts fine, sitting there for centuries without problem.
It wasn't until I downloaded the drivers toshiba, (Yes the good) did a reboot and hey presto. black screen again.A little, this would imply that there is a problem with the drivers of toshiba?
OK so the wife decided screw it, put Win 7 on it.
Restarted with disk in. sat and sat. Google finally informed me that I had to disable secureboot and put uefi in the csm.OK fine, went into the bios, off course start, changed to the csm uefi and restart the computer.
Now I get nothing; screen all turns on, fan starts, cd rom shots on and nothing stops down immediately if I push the power button.I pulled the battery, external and internal, let rest for half an hour and still the same thing.
Any ideas?
The history is for me a little confused so let me start from the beginning with some basic stuff.
In your ad write you didn t what model do you have exactly (L850D-xxx) and I can't check the specs of the laptop but I presume that this laptop comes with preinstalled OS, probably Win8.
Laptop with factory preinstalled OS that includes all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities. One of them is Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. With this tool, you can create a recovery (DVD or USB) media and it lets reinstall the original OS if it s some problem and HDD recovery does not work.
Best option now would be to use these media and install original recovery image. Did you create this recovery media?Generally speaking when you new notebook you do not have to use the original OS. You can install anything you want, and it has nothing to do with security. You can install any OS, all supported operating systems. So I do not understand how you could get info from technical support.
In any case, try please connect your laptop to the power supply and restart laptop. What exactly happens? See Toshiba welcome screen? Try pressing F12 repeatedly. There any reaction?

Custom settings does not? Black screen!
After doing windows updates and reboot my laptop, it allows me to connect, but instead to load my desktop screen, it turns just black. A small box will appear that says "custom settings (not answer) ' I'm lost. What is the problem and how to fix it?
A small box will appear that says "custom settings (not answer).
Interesting. The part 'black screen' of your symptom could mean that explorer.exe has crashed and not able to restart. I don't know why you might then see this second symptom, except that it sounds like something that could be a part of the explorer.exe recovery procedure, for example it reminds me of a procedure that automatically never came to be reviewed when W8 was first installed.
In any case, even if you have a black screen, you can try to start the Task Manager and use it to start other things. First of all, it would be useful to make a difference on the issue of whether you have a 'black' screen or a 'screen '. For example if there is a fringe of light around the edges and it's just quite dark, but not as dark as it would be if turned off, screen "in white" could be a more accurate description. Then you might be able to see things if they were added, which would be less likely, if she was black. For example, you can move your mouse and see a pointer moves on the dark? So I think this would be an example of a screen "empty."
And then, to start the Task Manager press Ctrl + Alt + Del and the use of the Task Manager item in the menu hotkey to rise. You can then use its Prcesses tab to see if the Windows Explorer appeared there. If you can use the TM file, do not run... command to start typing here: explorer.exe
However, another possibility that some people have been able to see is their primary screen inexplicably switched to a second monitor ghost. Then pressing Win - P, CursorUp and Enter to try to change the setting of the Second screen can be a procedure simpler and more effective to try to get something on the monitor that you are watching.

Pavilion g6 can not boot black screen of death...
Hello
I have a g6 2240-CA Pavilion which will not start upward. I get the 'HP' symbol and a message about 'Prepare auto repair'... then it goes in the black screen of death.
It runs Windows 8 (pretty sure its 64-bit version), System ID 1849 and ST9500325AS ATA Hard Drive.
I ran to the verification of diagnosis for the (vast) memory and hard drive. The memory test the HD failed. Specifically the "HD SMART Check" success and failure "HD short DST Check" with the following details:
Failure ID: Q4M8GW-6HV71A-MFPWW1-60WV03
Product ID: C2N57UA #ABL
Let me know if you need more info... Alan
Hello
According to test results, you posted, and it does not point to hard drive failure. Is your older machine for less than 12 months?
In this cases aged under 12 months contact HP in your local area and organize a repair service.

iPhone 5s does not have black screen, but the phone is still on
So I have a very strange problem that I couldn't really get on Google.
My iPhone doesn't come 5, after going to sleep, using the power button (my home button does not work). It will randomly start being sensitive, sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after a few hours.
By trial and error, I realized that cool the phone seemed to work fairly regularly (but not 100%), but now this method no longer works.
I'm sure that the phone is still because when I call, he goes not to the "the number you have called is not available at this time" response, it sounds just normally, but the phone does nothing.
However, connecting to a PC is the PC not recognizing anything plugged and that the phone itself does not seem to charge.
When he "wakes" it is as if I just plugged it and shows me the lock screen and everything is normal.
Thanks in advance for your time

By reading your post I was stuck on hardware failure, perhaps the LCD screen or logic board and then you wrote this. Please you elaberate on what you mean by "it is as if I just hooked it up". Actually connect? Does it make the chimes as you he plugged in even if you don't have?

Hello Adrian
For me it is not easy to understand your problem, but what you can do right now is to restart your laptop and check if the basic operations are working properly. Try restarting several times to see what will happen.
Start the laptop computer can see you Toshiba welcome screen?
Is there a usual activity of HARD disk at startup? -
Hi all
Newbie here and desperate.
I have a problem with M17x my son this morning. Everything worked very well and after some time, turned off the machine it self. Now it does not start even - at least I think, it won't because there is nothing on the screen as it is empty.
I've tried several things, including trying to move on and outside, with or without a battery of the power cord.
I'm at a loss as to what could have happened.
Help, please.
Smakwam.
The gpu of cooking is very easy in fact, that you have designated your oven to about 275 degrees cover a cookie sheet with paper and configure the map out of it by winding 4 balls of aluminum foil and their definition on each corner of the map. you never want to have it put all directly on the sheet. do Cook for about 10 minutes then cool before coming back into the laptop. Always be sure to remove all of the components and the radiator and any residue of thermal paste. After sick cooking you need to reapply a fresh thermal paste. I use artic silver 5. It is has more detailed instructions on this online, as well as photos. You want to make sure it's your video card before you do it just to be sure. I just had to do it again last week, works like a charm for me every time.
