(Dell LCD) screen goes blank when I connect.  Requires power to the power on and off screen, at least 15 to 20 times before picture stays on.  Any suggestions? No to the problem site so don't have the model numbers.  Dell computer and about 8 years.

Looks like your monitor is having problems sync-ing for the resolution settings that you have defined for your monitor.  When you get your screen is displayed, right-click on an empty area of your desktop-> properties-> (tab) settings.

Then, in the 'Screen Resolution' area, try to move the cursor to the end of 'Less' and click 'apply '.  It will then try to change to this new resolution.  If your screen is empty for now, just wait about 30 seconds and it will return to the previous resolution (which can mean that you need to power cycle your monitor you have done to get it back)-otherwise accept the settings if your display looks OK.  Try to find a solution that works with your monitor.  It is also possible that your monitor is going bad.

  • Re: Laptop wide screen goes blank when I watch videos online

    Hello

Just bought a Toshiba Satelite laptop. I installed windows 7, 64-bit in the car. A works well apart from when I watch a video on sites like youtube it sometimes works for a bit, sometimes not at all and the screen goes black as it is turned off.

The computer is still on, but it's just the screen is disabled and any buttons I press it remains empty, forcing me to shut the whole thing.
I installed Internet Explorer 9 and also Adobe more recent flash player for 62 bit drivers. I'm so frustrated! No matter that I just can not read video online!

Have you tested with different browsers?
I recommend you to check this with chrome or firefox.

  • Sansa e260: screen goes blank

I have a Sansa e260 for about 3 months now, and it has recently stopped working.

Here is what happened; After I finished putting the music in it, I unplugged the computer, and she has refreshed the database, as always. Only this time, the screen is blank after you refresh the database. If I pressed the power button for a few seconds, it turns off, and when I turn the back refresh the database and then shuts down.

I tried to connect to my computer so I can format it and see if that helps, but my computer can't detect it. Instead when I plug it in, it turns on, refreshes the database and then shuts down.

Can someone help me or point me in the right direction?

If you have a model v1, you can try the fix recovery mode as described in section #10 message in this thread.

    Hello

If you are normally able to logon in safe mode, this means there is a demand of load in normal mode, interfering with the Explorer shell. Safe mode, click Start and run regedit. Expand the branches to reach this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Cliquer click the button, then find the userinit string in the right pane. Double click it, replace the contents with:

    C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,

be sure to include the comma at the end click ok, close the registry editor and restart the system normally.

  • Computer does not start after the screen goes blank & Compaq.

    Hello

A few weeks ago, I turned on my PC and it showed at the Compaq screen and then went to a blank screen & would not respond. I held the switch button to turn it off and after 4 attempts, it start fine. Next time, it took 20 attempts to initialize and now it does not start, it will be maybe if I try like 100 times he can do... The problem is when the Compaq screen comes up it comes only for like a second so I know that it does not start, if the Compaq screen stays for a few seconds as 3 + I know it will load windows and start.

History > the computer originally had XP and has been replaced with VISTA memory was 2 * 512MB, but it was a bit slow and I was advised to upgrade. I bought 2 * 1 GB memory and put it in my PC a few months there may be 5 + had no problem so far.

    I tried the following:

Remove the memory and replace it. Remove the 2 * 1 GB of memory and its replacement by the Moose 2 * 512MB to check if the memory is at fault.

Cleaning of the dust around the fan (at this point, I removed the fan over the CPU and cleaned the thermal compound from the CPU to make it nice and shiny, only tried to start one time after that for a few seconds heard blowing fan and turend it took off. Depuis_lors, I realized that it wasn't just muck and had a purpose na derwiche put a little more on)

Remove the battery of the BIOS for half a day

    Move jumpers CMOS from1, 2 to 2, 3 positions

I can not get into the same if BIOS start and hold F1 he will show me the BIOS for a second and then go to a black screen.

    Specifications of the computer

    Hi guys,.

Thanks for your help, I wanted to just give you a batch update. After the grueling process of verifying the destop, memory suppression, cleaning it & all the other techo checks. I gave my pc to somone to look to the he tried not to turn on he opened it removed cleaning my thermal paste back on and told me it was working fine.

When I bought home all happy, I realized that I had the same problem, I borrowed another monitor and found it worked well! So the question is with my monitor, if anyone has the same problem first check another monitor.

  • screen goes blank randomly windows 7

I have a new shop of computer bought with windows 7. I had my usual computer guys transfer my docs of xp. I have a new flat screen lcd moniter. I changed my screen resolution till I'm blue in the face. Power settings are defined forever extinguished. Why my moniter goes black randomly? Sometimes he does before that I even had a chance to type my password. Sometimes he does while I'm on the search or by typing. When he does, the mouse and the keyboard will no longer work. When it does I can turn the power of the moniter and turn it on again manually and it turns on. So far, I'm not impressed with windows 7 Home premium. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Hello, Sheltimom3

You should be able to get the updated drivers on the manufacturers website and watch tree a section of driver or support. You should be able to download from here and install it as you would for a program.

  • Re: Satellite L300-1FK - screen goes blank

Screen flickered then erased, and whenever I try to start up it turns off again.
    Any suggestions?

Can you offer more details please?
Is this general problem the moment where you turn on your laptop or just loading Windows OS?
When enter you the BIOS and leave it for a while is again the flicker?
What is safe mode? The same problem again?

If possible try to connect your laptop to external monitor and check how it works.

  • Satellite C screen goes blank and only the visible mouse pointer

    Hello

My laptop Windows 8 is a couple of months

Today, when I try to start it shows the splash screen and then the screen turns black with only the pointer of the mouse showing.

I can move the pointer on the screen, but windows does not load.

What happens if you go to the BIOS by pressing F2 while turning on the laptop?
You see the BIOS screen and all the BIOS settings?
Could connect you external monitor to the laptop just to check the 2nd display?

In which case it's just a software related issue, you should be possible to repair the system using the Toshiba HDD recovery or the Toshiba recovery disc.
Have you checked one of the procedures mentioned?

    The comments appreciated.

  • External screen goes blank when I close the lid Satellite P100

    Hi all.
I hope someone has an idea as to what is happening here.

Sometimes I like to watch a dvd or use the center of the media on my HD TV. I use Windows Vista to make it.

When I had XP installed, I close the lid of the laptop and watch them to my heart's content. Now with Vista, I need to have the lid open be able to watch on the external display. If I close to you then the external screen is empty, as if I unplugged the laptop.

That makes me free! What worries me is burn-in screen, because the standby screen not turn on as I am watching video.

    Help! Someone! Anyone!

AFAIK in Vista that you can use the same options as under WXp. check please supply option and you will find an option called when I close the lid. As option, choose no action.

I think you should be able to close the lid while watching the movie on screen.

  • Satellite Pro A100 screen goes blank for two seconds

Since I got my machine in June, it has obscured the screen for a few seconds every now and then - probably once or twice a day.

Is this serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out?

It might have something to do with Flashcards. I don't know what it is, but whenever I start, he refuses to quit smoking.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello

    > Is it serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out
I think that it s not easy to say if it could be a serious hardware problem or just a driver issue.

    I have a few questions;
First of all; have you checked whether a BIOS update or update the graphics driver was help? For the most part, these updates do wonders ;)

How about new installation OS since the recovery CD? Have you checked if the same problem appears on the new OS installed since the recovery CD?

I think that this should be checked first.

  • Screen goes blank Sorta

I got my rocket for about 3 weeks now, and I loved most of the time. I'm having a problem with the screen not displaying information on the song on screen after playing for 30 to 45 minutes. The album art is still there, and there are sometimes a few letters, but not much. Rare opportunity even the text for the menus are missing. If I shut it down and restart then its fine. Any ideas on what causes it? How should I do?

Haven't heard that one before, which makes me suspect it of a defect and should probably be returned. But you could wait a week or two (if you can) the next update of the firmware and see if that fixes it.

  • Two computers with Windows Vista has problems with (screens going blank).

We have a Sony Vaio laptop and an HP Touchsmart with Windows Vista.  Last week Sony screen turned black and jumped, then back with the message saying there was an error with the NVIDIA GRAPHICS DRIVER, the driver had stopped working properly.  You had to do repair system, which then gave me an option to do system restore to the previous time.  Done this and back Sony a bit, then the screen went black and had to repeat the process.  Long story short, it won't restore or do something.  HP Touchsmart now do the same thing.  Anyone having this problem?

If you have the message on which you say that you did - it's a driver problem or a video card problem.  If you allowed Microsoft to update your nVidia driver - that might be the root of your problem.  It is possible that both machines have nVidia video cards, maybe even the same.  In any case - the solution remains the same for at least the one you quoted the error for.

Download and install the latest video card for any device driver is installed and if this does not work - could be material.

I'm guessing that the machines are in the same place - same meaning House or business?  If they are connected to a regulation of output/device which could damage the components via automatic voltage of the voltage drops and overvoltages?
