  • Windows Defender stop working after the malicious software removal tool

    I ran windows software and after this removal tool, my windows Defender stopped working says its turned off, but when I try to turn it on nothing happens

    This problem can occur because another security application is used or the Windows Defender service has stopped, or components of Windows Defender are corrupt.

    You install any new programs recently? Windows Defender is not designed to protect against the extent of malware. If programs like Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender both run, your system may experience degradation in performance and other problems caused by the conflict of two services providing real-time protection at the same time. I recommend that you keep the Defender off if another application of security protection is running.

    If no similar security application is installed, I suggest that we have follow these steps to resolve the problem:

    Step 1: Check the Windows Defender service
    =================================
    1. click on start, in the search box, type: "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. double-click on the service "Windows Defender".
    3. click on the 'general' tab. Make sure the "Startup Type" is "automatic". Then please click on "Start" under "Status of Service" to start the service.

    If the problem is not resolved, please refer to step 2:

    Step 2: Save the associated DLL files
    ========================
    1. click on start, type "cmd" (without the quotes) in the box start the search. Right click on CMD listed above and click 'run as administrator '.

    2. in the command prompt, type the following and press ENTER to each order:

    regsvr32 atl.dll

    regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    regsvr32 mssip32.dll

    3. close the command prompt, and then run Windows Defender.

    If the problem persists, please after return.

  • Malicious software removal tool update problems the last few months. Suspended for a very long time. Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP2

    Hello

    The last 3 months when the download and installation of my updates for Windows Vista, it gets stuck for hours on the malicious software removal tool. I have to cancel it. Restart the computer and reinstall. Then he moved very well and quickly according to historical updates. Last month, it was really difficult to cancell it well. He finally got through it. Here is a little history on my machine. I'm very very well with this computer. Each week, I do disk Cleanup, then defrag with diskeeper, virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials. And every six months, I run a very large disk check and I said to correct errors and try to fix bad sectors. More than 3 years, I only had 2 minor bluescreens. I always make sure I have all my products Microsoft put updated. When I first got this computer I had a guy I.T. (a neighbor) out of the box and clean all the useless garbage out of it and it partitioned the hard drive. More than 3 years, he managed as a champion. Always very fast and all.

    I hope that I'm not the only person having problems with this. Just start with the month of June, then July, then August.

    P.S. I have 2 laptops running XP sp3, one is 9 years old and the other is 11 years old, he had 2000 top PRO, but I just put XP sp3 on it last month. They run too much like fields. I take good care of my computers with a little help from my friend IT. They have the same programs as this one and I do the same things to them, but they do not have this same problem with the release of the MSRT tool. Which leads me to think that it is specific to Vista only, I have a Windows 7 computer yet, so I can't speak for seven.

    Any suggestions or ideas? We are scratching our heads on this one.

    Thank you in advance for your time and help

  • Run the malicious software removal tool every month? leave a newspaper?

    Original title: Malicious Software Removal Tool

    I downloaded and ran this tool, about six weeks ago (end of January).  I understand that it is updated, re-downloaded and run, all automatically, the second Tuesday of each month (if Windows security is enabled for "Auto-mises to date and that your computer is currently running/left on"). Can someone tell me if this is correct?

    And, if so, the analysis leaves any newspaper or other indication that he did indeed run, and what were the results?  (The first scan in Jan displays a message"saying that it had completed with no"conclusion".  But, after the second Tuesday in February, I could find no evidence that it had run.)

    Yes, if you have automatic updates, the tool of mrt is updated and scans your PC each patch tuesday.

    The malicious software removal tool creates a log mrt.log. For Windows XP, which is located in C:\WINDOWS\Debug. Not sure where it is in Windows 7 or Vista. but you should be able to find it.

    scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running

    cause.

    No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
