Create a download folder

Hi, I am trying to download the updated release of "Mix" and step 1 is to create a "download folder".  I have never done this and do not understand the instructions.  I was wondering if anyone can guide me through the steps in the "step 1".   This is how they read:

'Create a download folder.

  • Create a download folder in the hard drive of your PC to save the downloaded files. This guide assumes that you choose the C drive as your hard drive and create a folder "pfs_Up" to the root of drive C".

I don't really know. If you give me the link to the download site I'll take a look.

Greetings! And thanks for your visit. I was not a happy camper since my toys have acted toward the top. And eating too much of my time, with too few results. Here we go:

    • I'm unable to create a new folder or get No response after clicking on "new folder" on the command bar in Windows 7 (Professional).

Nothing happening... not even an error message.  I can enter the existing folders (where individual files) but as I'm trying to create a new folder to put them in, I write off. But that's not all. There is another mystery plaguing my system (and I suspect that these two are related).  I am naïve about how to remedy the situation:

    • I can not save files to my desktop (x) - favorite mainly files I just downloaded and am trying to save;

I get an error message indicating "you don't have permission to save to this place... you want to save it to My Documents instead? (No, I wouldn't.)  I'm connected with my regular user profile (which has administrator privileges). Yes... I checked in the user accounts and verified. (I am the only user on the system, in case this has an impact on the problem. Not sure if I should create a "dummy" another user without administrator privileges, but just throw that out there.) This seems to be mainly when I am trying to save a downloaded file or the executable file.

I can if not create and/or move files without problem; It's just not very welcoming for new downloads.

Between these two issues, I'm not having fun with this all-in-One Dell Optiplex (new).  She is on a home network and the only thing I have
reminder to do recently is to join the homegroup with one of the other Win 7 PC on the same network. Maybe this related to not having 'permission' to save in some places? Or create new folders? I'm the kind of feeling sad and rejected...

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. FYI: I try not to visit the registry on my own I do not have a Guide of techno-GPS with me. I sailed quite well on my own otherwise, provided that I the registry (or any what presses along the way.) Please think about this and do the right thing. I'll wait here with my turn signals on.

    Hello

You have discovered a problem with Windows 7. To resolve this problem, I use a program called FileMenu Tools. You can download the portable freeware from here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/System-Enhancements/FileMenu-Tools-Portable.shtml .

After having downloaded and installed the program, you will notice that, by default, each option is checked. I would be much more selective on this subject, otherwise your context menu will be a full page long! When the main window opens, you will see a list on the right side of all the elements that can be added to the context menu. Start weeding through the list and every one to take away, you don't need the United Nationsby checking the box.

Once you have completed your selection (de-selections) make sure that you click the green check mark in the row of icons at the top of the left window of the interface to 'Apply' of your choice. The program can do much more, but that answers your specific question. I am told that the program has a good help file, so try here if you are interested.

Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

    I'm on a retina MacBook Pro 13 inch, mid-2014. OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

I tried to drag the original on the quay "Downloads" folder, as I do with the applications. It will not drop to the dock.

I tried to create an alias for the folder and add it to the docking station. Still, it will not drop to the dock.

I tried to find some settings for the dock that could guide me. The settings are limited, without anything to help me with my problem.

Any ideas on what I'm missing?

    Thank you.

From your users, do folder drag the folder downloads at the dock but make sure that you are placing on the right side of the dock, there should be a vertical gray line of feint on the platform where you put files and apps right to the left.

Hello Jim_Auricman, welcome to the HP support community!

You have a viewer for text files installed on the device?  If this is not the case, this is the reason why they will not open.

I suggest you download a free "File Manager" program.  There are many who have integrated text editors.

Use one, you could kill two birds with one stone - search and create folders and open the text files to view and edit!

Use the store to play to search for "text viewer".  There are many free programs of 5 stars that might meet your needs.

    Hi subhshy001,

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows answers Forum community!

Try this if you do not have

Windows Explorer to create the folders and shortcuts in your document folder, drag and drop them on your desktop.

If you have completed the steps and was not even useful,

    Follow these steps:

Try to create a shortcut and sending it on the desktop.

    (1) open: Start Menu ,.
    (2) right-click: Internet Explorer icon .
    (3) select: send to > desktop (create shortcut).

There should be a shortcut on the desktop .

Make sure that the "show desktop icon" has a check against it

    OR

Just click on the empty part of the desktop, choose new > then select the folder to create. Right click on this folder , select Rename it.

If the steps above do not work then:

You can scan your computer for malware.

You can download, install and update anti-malware free of your favorite search engine and find malware.

If the scan comes back clean, so I recommend doing a System File Checker too l to analyze your OS system files.

To help resolve this problem, use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. open an elevated command prompt . To do this, click Start , click principally made programs , Accessories , right-click guest , and then click run as administrator .  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow .
    2. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc) the sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. This analysis do take some time to complete.

    Hope this information helped!

  • Stuck in the downloads folder Documents in Vista folder

It seems that at some point, I accidentally managed to move the My Documents folder in my downloads folder, and I can't bring it back to my user profile folder. The link to the documents folder now points to the downloads folder as well as my user profile. If I try to move the rear backrest, overwrite the 'shortcut' in the user folder, or delete shortcuts it deletes the actual file permanently. Needless to say I lost a lot of important issues, as is, I managed to recover some of them through the system restore, but because this feature is not intended to change my personal files it can't solve my problem or restore the most important files, regardless of the back where I'm going.

I could really use help when setting at least my problem with duplicate folders of Documents without losing the original. I like to keep the special classification as a user also profile folder well (he having this special icon and the link in the start menu). That would be easily solved by using the snapshot feature on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, but I use Home Premium on this computer. I don't understand how such a feature could be reserved for the ultimate when it could be used to solve all problems resulting of the ridiculous PIPs in the OS itself. I always liked Windows but moves like that always make me wonder why I bother.

Here are the steps on how to move the profile personal user shell folders in Vista (I don't know how you move them to download without using this procedure - is the Documents folder always blue?). http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/107990-personal-user-shell-folders-move-location.html.  Quite honestly I don't know what will happen in your situation with two folders of Documents - as long as move you to the location appropriate, I don't think that something will happen to the content, but I have never tried this with duplicates before.  I make a copy of one (a normal copy) and save it as somewhere just in case if we have data somewhere else not involved in the process and that can be used to re-create a Documents folder appropriate if worse comes to worse.

Assuming a normal situation, this procedure might work, but I don't know how you have moved in the first place so I am not sure that move the right way will set things back to normal.  However, even if it's not we can still solve the problem with a differentt procedure I will post if necessary.  BTW, System Restore does not retrieve data files - ITI specifically excludes the so that they are not lost when a restore is required (and so it is not to retrieve them).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • File system 512 error - cannot create a new folder

    Hello

I can't create a new folder under libraries/photos. I have several folders and subfolders, but lately when I try to create a new folder directly in 'photos', I get a "file system 512 error." I can still create new folders in the existing folders, but not directly in the library/images directory. I am confused because I have done this several times before.

I downloaded and ran an expensive registry fix program and have the latest Windows. Neither helped.

All ideas are most appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Alex

You're right, I was assuming that the my images from your user account folders was in this library.

    OK, let's try again.

Go to the images of C:\Users\Public\Public folder. Create a new folder in the folder public photo.

Now go back to the photo library and see if this new folder appears here.

    Let me know.

Thank you for using Windows 7

  • Deleting files from the downloads folder

Deleting files from my downloads folder delete them will form my laptop?

The downloads folder is mainly a temporary store. What happens after the download depends entirely what they are and what you were doing after download.

Program installers will almost always unpack and create directories elsewhere on the disc in order to remove them from downloads does not remove the actual program.

By default, zip files will create a folder extracted in downloads and will be deleted if the folder is empty.

Photos, documents, music, etc. be elsewhere on your drive if you moved them. As the default drag and drop function within the same drive is move not copy if they are still there, there is a strong possibility that they are the only copy.

  • My download folder allows access to different folders

    I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I use a 120 GB SSD to run my OS and that fills up very quickly. So I decided to spend my downloads folder on my F drive which is a disk of 1 TB for the most part empty. My Music folder and all my games on my disc D (a 2 TB drive).

It's all pretty easy to do, but I would like to know how to add multiple locations to my downloads folder link? Basically, I would like to add two locations in the folder "downloads". My reasoning is that there are probably other programs on my computer that will always add the files in the folder on the C drive. Which is ok, and why, I always want to keep an eye on it.

    If possible how?

I tried using a semi colon (;) to separate the various places, but which did not work.

    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,.

You can create a folder in the drive F:\ and add this folder to the downloads folder in the library. Right-click on the new folder in the drive F:\ and select 'Add to library' and then select 'downloads '. For more information, see this article:

You can use a 3rd party zip software.
I don't know whether you are running in a limitation of the program.
