Create users specifically for file sharing, to hide the login screen

I would like to create a user that will be used by remote computers to connect with to access shared folders and files. I have already created a user in the computer management screen, even if this user now appears on my login screen.

How can I get for this user account is not the screen, and it is accessible only by machines on my network?

I use Windows Vista SP2 Ultimate 64-bit.

I guess you know what you're doing and have a contingency plan for when things go wrong.

There are various buttons shown on the Internet, the most used is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\
Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

There is a Reg command in this article that you can modify to apply the change.

  • How to remotely wake up Vista for file sharing?

I need help to wake up my Vista PC mode standby for file sharing application. The PC is connected to a router and I can wake him from sleep mode by pressing a key on the keyboard. In addition, I can wake up the PC for the Logitech Media Server application. I have the Logitech Media Server running on this computer. As soon as I turn on the player (carrier or SB3), the PC wakes up fashion 'sleep'. If the "sleep mode" works well for Logitech Media Server.

  • How to add user from another computer as a Local user for file sharing permissions

Hello, I'll put up for two computers to share files on a network.

I just need to figure out how to add a user from another computer as a local user, I can change its permissions of file sharing.

    Here's where I'm stuck:

I am trying to add a new user, but:

How can I add a user somewhere else on my network to this list?

I tried to add one here in the computer management:

How can I add my network user?  I tried to do it in this format:

Sure thing. You can add a list in the registry with the name of the account that you want to hide from the login screen.  This site explains how: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/6222/windows-7-vista-xp-hide-user-account-from-welcome-screen-login-screen/

So I am creating a specification of "customization." I found several articles that point to this: http://screencast.com/t/jMeP2Q4nA2c

But, I have simply connecting to vCenter. That is just missing for me: http://screencast.com/t/MyxVYZpkm

Where is he to Horizon of VMware View now?

    Thank you.

What operating system you are trying to create a pool for? Custom features are the "corrected" (if you want) for SysPrep. These are created on the vCenter server and you will need appropriate permissions (if you are not an administrator of vCenter) to make of these. You need it for every single Guest OS (Windows or some Linux distributions) installation (by example, if you had 3 installs different from XP that had different needs, you'd have 3 plug custom, if however, you used a volume license and they had all the same basic settings with DHCP and used the VM name for the name of the computer) you have only one).

You just 'install' the sysprep files during the setup of XP. Vista and later have the SysPrep files natively installed.

  • How can I connect Windows XP to several networks, Wi - Fi for internet and the other for file sharing?

On windows XP, I need to connect to two different networks. Free wifi for the internet and the other for file sharing.

Different gateways, different static address, same subnet mask. But there is problem when operating simultaneously and must

a network must be disabled. Is it possible to run simultaneously?

original title: served various networks simultaneously on windows xp

Go to where you have configured the static IP addresses for your network adapters.  Leave the "default gateway" blank for your local file sharing adapter and insert a valid default gateway for your wifi Internet adapter.  Of course, this will limit your adapter in a single subnet - which should be OK for use at home or small office to share local files.

This should work as long as the two physical subnets have two different subnet numbers. In general, this means that the first three digits of the IP address of the adapter can not be the same on both adapters - if they are, then you need to make one of the subnets. (i.e. one is 192.168.1.xxx and the other would be 192.168.2.xxx).  This is usually accomplished in the router configuration page.

In trying to "turn on network discovery", I got this message: "the specified service does not exist as an installed service.  Ditto for "file sharing."  How can I activate them?

    Hello

Method 1: Make sure that the following services are enabled on the computer.

    (a) click Start and type "services.msc" in the search and click on services and ensure that these services are enabled:

    -TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service

    -DNS Client

    -Function Discovery Resource Publication

    -SSDP Discovery

    -UPnP device host

To start the service and set it to automatic, follow these steps:

    (b) right click on each of the services listed above and click Properties.

    (c) click the general tab, and then, next to startup type, select automatic.

    (d) click on apply and then click Start.

Method 2: I suggest that you can exercise SFC scan and check if TI the problem persists. To do this, please see the following article. The SFC/SCANNOW command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • Can't see another computer for file sharing

    Hello
I have 2 computers in my house, a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 and the other a XP Home Edition SP3 race, both connected to the Internet through a router TL-MR3420 and the adapter TP-LINK TL-WN822N. I have enabled the sharing of files on both computers and have no problem to display all of the files shared between each computer, so far.
Whenever I try to view another computer via "Network" or "homegroup" menu on 7 (or my network places on XP), I can't see my other computer which is supposed to be there. So far, I've tried a few attempts to analyze and resolve:
1 ping each other by IP - success.
2 ping each other by the name of the computer - has failed.
    3. try to access to "- and " run - failed with error 0 x 80070035 - path not found network. ".
4 run diagnose step above on Windows 7, she returned with a result: "the device or resource (my static IP XP) is not configured to accept connections on port 'The file sharing and printers (SMB)'."
5 turn off the firewall on the computers and router.
    6. ensure that necessary services for file sharing are active.
    7. the reactivation of the wireless connection on both computers.
8 change the name of the Working Group on both computers.
    9. run ipconfig/all on both computers.
10 install this fix on my XP.
Ipconfig, it seems my two computers showing the active DHCP on 'no', so I changed my network settings to "obtain an IP automatically" she turns to the 'yes' later. And "NetBIOS over TCP/IP", showing the different statutes on 7 that it is activated on XP it is disabled, even though I put it activated via the WINS tab on the XP network settings. Still do not solve the problem.
I don't know if it means something, but I share also some folders on my 7 to my Tablet ES File Explorer app, it works as it should (as long as I use static IP address), but if I try to connect my tablet to shared folders on XP, it always shows error message on either:
WiFi is turned off (it is)
SMB server is out of reach of the network
The ip address is not valid
    Blocked by the firewall
    SMB service is disabled
I guess that Wifi, IP and firewall are not the problem, and I don't know about SMB, it's stands for Samba / file Printer Sharing? He has already checked on computer network settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I solved this.

I opened my XP, run these commands via cmd:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
    netsh winsock reset
Restart the computer and then change my connection of cable wireless lan then back to wireless again.

  • Picture of user account plus-res for the login screen?

I have an image ~ 530pixels the place I want to use as an image of user account. I've seen mention that windows dimensionnera the image up to 48 x 48, and that's very good for when the image is displayed small (i.e. the start menu). However, it seems that this image of 48 x 48 is be climbed back to the login screen because it displays the usual up-scaling artifacts. Is it possible to tell Windows, through the registry, use an plus-res image for user account image is displayed on the login screen?

But my source image is certainly high enough res ~ 530 squares. I want windows to * not * is resize up to 128 x 128 for things like the start menu, but then resizing * that * image 128 x 128 to something bigger for the photo log. It would be great if I could just give a picture of 128 x 128 for the profile photo (or the user in mosaic as I see articles call them) and then provide a plus-res image to the login screen. Such an arrangement already exists to provide images for, say, the start menu take into account different parameters.

I think that the icon on the start menu is only 48 x 48. I just changed to a 256 x 256 user image and it is was reduced to 128 x 128 screen connection, much smaller than that of the start menu. I didn't know myself, but I read somewhere that the logon image is reduced even more if you're not using passwords. A 128 x 128 image should not get resized to the logon screen, only reduced to the start menu.

Sorry, no idea how to display a larger image.

  • How to make Windows 7 see the list of the user on the login screen, not just the last logged-on user

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit and have two user accounts on my computer. Problem is that the login screen shows only the last logged user and one "other users" button which allows you to manually enter the username. Is it possible to return to the display of a list of all users instead?

    Jon

OK... I found how to fix this problem. I know it's a few years since this topic (and most of the people moved to windows 8) but for those who are still Windows 7 who are tired to type the user name, whenever you log in, here is how to display the icons of the user:

WARNING: This patch is not a hack. I do not use any third party software. I am simply change a security setting in the windows system. The longest part is to find the file. As much as I would like to say that this will fix all computers, I can't guarantee that this will be the solution for your system. This fixed my problem because my just setting should be disabled. That being said, let's move.

As an admin (must be in an account that has administrator privileges) click the Start button and in the search at the bottom of the opening bar, the type of menu "Edit Group Policy" and press on enter. When the local Group Policy Editor window appears, click on the following arrows in the left column to expand the lists to find the file to change...

    > Computer configuration

    > Windows settings

    > Security settings

    > Local policies

    Security options<-Click on="" this="" file="" name="" or="" icon="" (the="" arrow="" icon="" won't="" do="">

In the right menu appears a bunch of system settings, find the one that we called "Interactive logon: do not display last user name" This is the setting which will no doubt say "Enabled" beside him. Right-click on the file and select 'Properties', then disable the setting. Restart your computer and you should be good to go!
