Creation of DVD Windows Media Player, Media Center, stop working

I use Windows Vista and that you cannot use Windows Media Center, Media Player, Media Player Classic or Windows DVD Maker.

When I try and play a video file for example, I immediately have an error message saying that "Windows Media Player has stopped working. A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Same message for attempting to use one of the other programs listed.

I tried to reboot, I checked for updates and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 installed and I used the Microsoft fix it solution to 'Windows Media Player stops responding after you install a third-party product that registers its own version of the Wmp.dll file' (using both the "fix it for me" and "Let me fix it myself" options).

Unfortunately that I do not have a restore to restore point, my only option was to restore to the point before you install Windows Vista Service Pack 2, but my problem before this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I think that the problem may have started when I updated a program, I used without any problems in the past ("Format Factory"), because I can't think of anything that may have done so.

Thank you!

Hello

First of all make sure that WMP is really stopped, look in the Manager of tasks - right click on taskbar - task manager.

Start - type this in the search box-> find COMMAND at the top and RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

  • Windows Media Center cannot detect the error DVD Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD into the drive

Original title: why Windows Media Center does not detect my DVD?

I built my computer motherboard ASUS P658D, Intel i7 processor clocked at 2.6 gHz, 12 GB RAM, 750W Corsair PWR. power, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit & ie9. When I put or the other two DVDs in one of two DVD players, Windows Media Center appears and when I click on "Play DVD" Media Center give me a window that says:

"Windows Media Center cannot detect a DVD in the DVD - ROM drive. Insert a video DVD in the drive." Two DVDs, I've tried are educational for DVD

my Nikon D300 Digital camera and a family video DVD or both these very well play in a bed of same computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, & ie8.

I tried Microsoft Fixit, no help. I tried to send Microsoft Support, and I got NO HELP. I did not bring any changes, and installed any program, just

scoured the internet. A DVD player is a Sony Optarc with Microsoft Driver, the other is ASUS. I also tried to use Windows Media Player but nothing

rises or it returns me to Windows Media Center and it does not detect to play either of my DVD. How can I get help here, or from Microsoft? Thank you.

No, there is no yellow warning in Device Manager and the device manager says that two DVD players work properly. Mr. Fix it's

automated download from microsoft that is supposed to automatically fix some problems, but he provided no help here. I think it is more likely

that there is a problem with Windows Media Center or Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and either of my two new Sony DVD drives

    and ASUS.

I thought my way in a solution. My thought was: Device Manager indicates DVD players work properly and both are new and we're Sony, and the other ASUS so I think only an unlikely problem with readers. The problem is with Windows Media Center "do DETECTED is not the DVD. So there must be a problem with Windows Media Center. I thought that I might need to reinstall Windows 7... then I thought that maybe if I just reinstall Windows Media that will work. He did. My problem was:

Start > Panel > programs and features > features on or off Windows activate > then uncheck the box for multimedia functions > restart the computer > and then re-check the box to restore the multimedia features > now both discs play both DVDs, I tried. Both disks are operating normally. Reinstall the characteristics of media Windows 7 resolved the problem. Thanks to all who offered solutions.

  • MEDIA CENTER STOPS WORKING WHEN I TRYING TO PLAY MOVIES THAT I HAVE DOWNLOADED

Media Center will not play any movie I have in my library, it plays fine in the music video, the same movie will play well when I use Windows Media Player by itself without open Media center.

Is there any solution for this?

    Hello KINGPIN62,

    Thank you for your response.

To check, are video files in a monitored folder of Windows Media Center?

To add or remove folders to be monitored by Windows Media Center, see the following steps:

    ·         Since the Windows Media Center start screen, navigate to tasks, and then click settings.

    ·         Click configuration library > add folder to watch and then click Next.

    ·         Click one of the options under which folders you want to add, and then click Next.

    ·         Naviguer, navigate to the folders you want to add, and then select the check box next to each folder.  Click next and then click Finish.

Alternatively, you can try to perform the clean boot to verify if a background program may interfere.

To perform a clean boot, see the link below:

You can also check if the necessary codec to play the video files is installed.

For more information about the location of the codec, please visit the link below:

In addition, you can also check with the seller or store movies downloaded for additional codec information for video files.

I never use windows media player but I use XP Media Center Edition 2005 to record TV programs, I have watch on a different media player.

Can I remove Media PLayer without harming the Media Center?

    Thank you very much James

You can't really uninstall Media Player from all current versions of Windows, it is a central element.  It is best to not not muck on that.  Also notes that some readers of third part depend on Media Player components working properly, ask only trouble if you muck on this.
