CS3: Having problems creating an Action to "save for Web".

Hi all

I am creating an Action to convert my psd. files to JPEG is suitable for the web.  I use a Mac Pro CS3 running.  My work space Adobe RGB (1998), all files start as Canon RAW CR2, are published in 16-bit and then saved as a psd.  I created an Action following an open psd. image in Photoshop:

(1) Windows > Actions

(2) create new Action

(3) renamed 'save for Web' and then click on registration

(4) image > duplicate > OK

(5) Edition > convert to profile

(6) changed Destination space sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 > OK

(7) file > save as

(8) format > option JPEG no?  What?

Everything seemed fine until I reached the stage of Format.  I had a lot of choices, but JPEG was not one of them.  Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?  Thank you!

Mike

They must be 8 bits. But why do you use Save as instead of "save for web"?

    Hi Forum

With the new update to export to save the web, I was wondering if anyone knows how to save the settings so that it is not automatically set to save as a GIF file, I like it to save in JPEG format all the time, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's what I've provided to solve it,

I created a SCRIPT to save for Web command, set my settings to JPEG

and added a 'shortcut' to my Action for quick access

Hope this will help until it is fixed in future updates.

  • Save for Web is now up to GIF on each record?

Up to the latest version, the save for Web dialog box remember the type of file that you saved last as. Now, every time I open it... interrupt my workflow, it is up to the pretty spectacular GIF format that I use save for Web several times a day to record versions of the wired models.

    Anyone else seeing this?

I do not see any place to set a default file type save for web.

    Am I missing something?

I don't understand the reasoning behind this change. People generally use the same type of file when they export and RARELY is it GIF more. But even if the GIF was still popular, I would say it is much more common that you export the same type of file most of the time that put permanently.

  • Batch save for Web with sRGB

I am running CS5. I have no problem, the batch of the save for web function. My problem is that it won't save in sRGB, even if Save to sRGB is checked in the backup of the web dialogue levels. I also install my verified as well profile. Where I'm going wrong?

I had this happen also when you use the batch.

You could put a convert to sRGB profile stage (Edit > convert to profile) in action before you save it for the stage of the web

and in the save for web dialog box leave the embed icc profile verified, but uncheck the box convert to sRGB.

  • The image exceeds the size to make save for Web and devices has been designed

I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5. I assumed that save for Web & devices would have been redesigned so that it would not complain with modern large pictures they were just too big!

However, it still doesn't work. I just do not get it. Photoshop in general now is editing of very large images. It should be able to manage them also in this function.

Is this just a legacy message, or is it really true that this feature can only manage small images?

Save for web is designed to optimize the web graphics by squeezing the bytes while retaining the quality.  It was not intended to scale and then optimize large images. This is shown in the alert message.

You can present a feature request to Adobe to change the original intent of SFW.

SFW can display 4 versions of an image in different types of optimization. We must save the 4 temporary files. Imagine trying to save a huge image 4 times at a time through the "File-Save As. That's why you see this warning message. It takes time to build these temporary files, especially when you throw a huge file at home.

Consider a solution scripted this one where a copy of your image is first reduced and then transferred to SFW.

  • Problem with save for Web in Action

We do hundreds of images to our fine print main client. As part of the work, they want to the final image through save for Web registered as file a .jpg and .png to 1000 pixels wide.

The problem is, if you try to create an action for this, the size of the action records is a percentage and not a width in pixels. It is therefore impossible (so it seems) to record an action that sets the scale as a sizing with a fixed output of 1000 pixels wide. Since images vary in size and he insists on registration of the size as a percentage, you can not create an action that will work.

I tried to see if there is a way to change the action to change the output of a width in pixels, but didn't see how to do it. Is it still possible? We would save TONS of not having to manually open each image twice as much work and savings for each format.

Yes, there is a bug with this script.

The bug got into CS5 and was not attached to the CS6.

You can download the fixed script here...

  • Save for web and devices CS3 Windows problem

I've had this problem for a few days now. I try to hit Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S for save for web and devices, and nothing comes. If I click on the file menu, and I see that the option is grayed out. I thought reset help entangled, but he continues to themselves, then someone told me it was the size of the image, but that is impossible, because I couldn't save a photo 5 "x 5", and is not too big. " I have a feeling that maybe it's the color settings, but I don't know anything in there, help would be appreciated.

Go to Image/Mode in PS and see if it's 8-bit and RGB color and must be changed.  Many functions do not work with 16-bit images.

  • Save for Web action CC 2015

    Hello

I just created an Action to help with batch save images for the web. I have several hundred photos I need to reduce and put on a Web site.

    • I can go through the process manually and everything works fine.
    • I created an action, according to the manual process, and it does not work.
    • I also tried to run the action as a batch command and I get the error message "does not recognize the Export command.  I understand that it is obvious that the action does not work, but I thought I would try it anyway.

Someone had problems with the creation of an action or with batch save for Web and how did you get around it if you please.

    Thank you

    George

I'm on Win 10. Where do you work, do not forget this: when measures registration do not change the file name when recording and save to the folder where you want to save the files when batch processing option because: Override Action "save under" commands will not work for the reason that you do not save (command) step in your action.

  • GIF/save for Web problem (PSE 7)

I tried searching for an answer to this problem, but nothing seems to fix everything that happens.

Recently, I had to replace my laptop and from Windows XP to Windows 7.  I transferred the PSE 7 from the old system to the new system and have had no problems with it - until now.  I have an image in format Photoshop 52 - layer I want to save as an animated .gif, with each layer as a different image.  File > > Save As has the ability to save layers as frames, but if I check it, then click on 'Save', nothing happens.  Nothing at all.  On my old system, I would get a new dialogue with options like the quality, duration by frame, loop, etc., but that doesn't happen any more, and there is nothing to save (if I'm going to find the new .gif file, it's just not there). If I do not choose "Layers in images", dialogue .gif does so very well and it has no difficulty to save it as a static .gif file.  But it seems that she won't just save it in animated format.

I'm having the same problem with "save for Web".  Or the option of the file menu or typing command will bring up dialogue to let me record this way.  He thinks maybe a second, but does nothing else and does not record the image.

I tried to reset the layout, just in case the dialog box has been moved somewhere that I wasn't just to see and I tried to reset the preferences to save it for the Web, but none of these things worked.  No explanation as to why a .gif animation 'layers as images"is the only format that is not saving correctly?

I also tried old connections animated that I created with XP, and they will not re - save as animation connections either opening.  I get her "do you want to save changes" dialogue, but clicking on 'Yes' does nothing and does not record updates.  I am at a total loss for why this feature no longer works.

If you right click on the shortcut of items and choose Run as administrator,

It does make a difference or not save for Web work?

Registration of the Web dialogue box is the same dialog box that you would get when checking the layers as frames

in the Save as dialog box.

    Hello

    1. were you able to see the front dialog box?

    2. did you of recent changes to the computer?

This happens because your screen resolution is less than the required minimum of 1024 x 768.

You can try to change the resolution of the monitor and check.

  • File size problems save for Web!

    Hello

I have a problem with the size of the files when you save files to certain specifications.

I use 'Save for Web' tool to identify the weight of the image by changing the amount of colors used.

In the tool, the weight seems to be in line with the specifications, but when I check in the Finder (for information), it tells me it is finished the required specifications.

Example - in the save for Web tool, it indicates that the weight is 6.967 KB for a .gif 300x50px using 100 colors.

But in the finder, it says it's 8 254 bytes!

    Why is this happening?

    How can we solve this?

Operating system does not automatically add the data preview. My guess is that Photoshop is adding metadata during registration.

    A few tips:

    • Try using PNG instead of GIF. The file size is almost always small. You may have heard that PNG does not work with Internet EXPLORER. This applies to versions prior to Internet EXPLORER 7, which is currently on a 2% share of the browser market. The problem only affects transparency 8 bits, so 8-bit png with transparency 1 bit very well work.
    • Download PING from MacUpdate. This is a free PNG optimizer. Drag the PNG files on the application icon in order to optimize. Savings can be dramatic.
    • If you insist on using search for GIF optimizers, GIF also on MacUpdate.
  • help - problem with save for web when jpg image is placed in the file

I have a jpg image file that I placed in my Illustrator 5 file to use as background and then created several vector buttons on the top.  When I try to create an arboard around a single button and then save it to the web, it ignores the size of the artboard and shows the dimensions of all jpg.  If I create the same file without the background jpg image, I am able to use work plans to record only a single button.  Every time I place a jpg image in my Illustrator file and try to use work plans, work plans are ignored and the entire area of the jpg is saved.  I am able to use the tool cuts to the economy, but I prefer using work plans.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the work plans of work when a jpg is placed in the file?  Thank you.

In save for Web, the tab Image... is Crop to the artboard checked?
