[CS4] Grayscale overprint mode

Hello world.

I have a level of grayscale PSD, placed in an INDD. When I do an overview of separations, so switch to overlay mode and watch one all channels combined, it seems much lighter, to the point of 100% black-like 80% at best. However, if I select only the separation of black, the image seems his normal self. Selecting one of the other channels shows no other inks in the image. What is going on?

Leo

It shows the difference between the range of values (white to full color) and what it will look like in print.

The range of values is from 0 (white) to 100% (full color, displayed as 'really really black'). It does the same thing for yellow, cyan and magenta. It's a reminder to "fully covered by this ink.

The separation combined, on the other hand, has do 100% black a little lighter on screen that true black screen, because it is perfectly possible to add several inks in the mixture, make black darker than with just the use of black ink. ID tries to show that, as well. You can see the difference if you draw a rectangle colored on top of your image and the value as the overprint.

When in doubt, move your cursor over the separation preview image. ID will be accurately indicate the percentage of each ink under the cursor.

  • Out problems with the purpose of transparency on the PDF and JPG - CS4

I have a problem, save PDF to a file that has a square of 100% black CMYK with blur effect and it has an effect of multiplication on a gray white/blue rectangle. I wanted a simulation of the simple, similar shade that I use sometimes with white gradient / black + multiply.

But, as I saw it in many other versions of this ad, that I'm working on them objects of white or white/gray gradient (rectangles, text) simply disappear on the PDF output. Sometimes it disappears entirely, other they appear incomplete by the measurement of the object "multiplied" above him.

I have this problem also sometimes in transparency the value multiply on back/white gradient in a light background.

-Pixelate effects are set at 300 DPI

    -Document color setings are CMYK

-All the black or white in this case are 100 %K or 0 %K on CMYK

    -Illustrator CS4

Here's a curios thing: when a white game on CMYK not 0.0.0.0, but 1.1.1.1 the problem disappear! As it does if my black is 100.100.100.100.

But, of course, I have my file to an output log and want to go to the right, with my 100% black for the record on the right.

    I tried:

-All mentioned pixelation in Illustrator and then saving a PDF file

    -Export directly from Illustrator

-Flatten the layers and save as PDF

-Record in EPS (CS2) and then the distillation on PDF 6.0

-Import of AI on Photoshop and then saving a JPG file - it worked, but I want a PDF file for a better quality of text

    Anyone?

Try to turn on/off the preview overprinting mode > overview of overprinting in the illustrator file. The Illustrator file looks like the PDF file when you turn on preview overprinting? If this is the case, you will need to correct overprinting objects so that they will knock out.

  • Objects from ID CS6 RGB set to overprint = KB in PDF format

    Hello:

While I wait on the phone to Adobe support (+ 60 minutes now), I thought I'd post here to see if anyone in the community had any comment on it.

We recently discovered that objects created with an RGB version but set to overprint in InDesign will end as the KO type in an exported PDF file. I'm trying to find out if it's the behaviour expected or if it is a type of bug in CS6. This levonorgestrol even when all colors must be converted to CMYK or tones, for example during export to X1a.

Of a technical standpont, RGB objects for a recovery are labeled ' OPM 0' and CMYK objects are marked as 'OPM 1'

    Our resources of Enfocus:

There are two modes of 'super ':

    • Standard overprint mode, also known under the name "OPM 0.
    • Mode of overlay Illustrator , also known under the name 'OPM 1' or ' overlay mode non-zero.

The difference between these two modes is the effect of the hue value 0 for one of the CMYK inks:

    • Standard overprint mode (OPM 0), the hue value 0 of one of the CMYK inks in the foreground object has a masking effect on the color of the underlying object rendering. In other words, ink of foreground with 0% C, M, Y or K erases ink corresponding background. Here, the principle of "winning leading inks" applies.

    • Overprint in Illustrator (OPM 1) mode, the value of 0 hue is neutral: it is ignored (as if she was "unspecified") and has no effect on the color of the underlying to the object rendering.

I get this, which makes sense because my first export to PDF/X-1 forced converted the object in CMYK and RGB rose 0% black. So your problem customers are accidentally overprinting of RGB objects and are surprised by the effect of overprinting? Because I think that if I had first exported as PDF/X-4 pink RGB would always be dull in the re-exported PDF.

  • Photoshop CS5: border mode full screen

When I enter the mode full screen in Photoshop, there is a border around the screen. This does not happen in Photoshop CS4 or even mode full-screen Bridge CS5.

This is a problem. Anyone else having this problem? (Toshiba A205 - S5843/1.73 Ghz dual core, 2 MB of ram, Windows 7 Home Edition.)

    border in FS mode.png

Looking at my screen a little more closely, I have the same thing that show you. It is very light and not too pronounced that what you are. I know that it bothers you to see. But do not let other people trying to tell you what is improtant or not important, happen to you. I almost never use full screen in any case this isn't a problem for me.

So for the boundary sum things there just is very low on my system. My laptop has an i720qm, 8 GB of RAM and an ATI 5870vwith driver 10.4 together. I did not load test CS5 on my main bench upstairs so I can't help you on that.

My feeling is that it is a thing of Vista/Windows 7 AERO.

  • Stunned - Trapping, how to check!

By default, InDesign imprisons its own objects against each other, and I took that acquired for years. Right up to what one of our printers complained that we didn't have any trapping. ' * ', I said and continued to show in Acrobat 9 Pro, that document a catches after all. A few hours later, using CS3 and CS4, using the original document and a number of rectangles that overlap text, and color random and targeted print and distillation, export to PDF and gradually increase the distance of its default 1/4 pt to 2 mm value trap, I poster still not it. Even the old trick of printing separations and watch a black and white does not make.

A rather odd find is that trapping is visible in the output PDF documents CS3, but only for graphic objects against eachother - not text. Even if I converted the text in text outlines. I'm not kidding. For CS4, the results are zilch, nada, nothing - no visible trapping in Acrobat.

Then... How can I check if it's done properly? Or even prove it's there?

[Edit] I forgot to mention, try mac and pc - just to have all grounds covered.

My colleague has proved "even the old trick of printing separations and watch a black and white don't it." did not, because you have to manually enable the trapping. And so it is visible in Acrobat. Still not quite the same thing.

I think that I told you hurt a minute before, shooting overview of overprinting on and outside does not show and hide the overprints of trap. Vector vector traps are "overprint Mode: 1.

There is a way to make these traps jump in Acrobat. In the output Preview Panel, extract: color warnings, you can highlight these overprints with color of your choice (default is yellow orange). This does not however always vector to the trapping of the image.

Even if for some reason, the printer is unable to trapping, he could still have to inform you that the file had no trap. I don't understand that, but good...

ID covers graphics Illustrator and also relieves registry in dark black. But apparently distributed type default image, which, in many cases, is not the best way to go about it.

You can be better jumping just the ID of trapping altogether. Export, and print from Acrobat to create traps. I'm not familiar with Acrobat trapping since I use trapping another stream of work, but there may be more capabilities here than in InDesign, including control of management with Image to the trapping of the object.

  • Photoshop commands are affected by the gray color profile?

In Adobe Photoshop color settings, you can choose different workspaces for gray:

    • Dot Gain 15% (the default value for Europe)
    • Dot Gain 20% (the default value for North America)
    • Gray Gamma 2.2 (the default value for the web)

Obviously, the conversion to and from grayscale (Image > Mode > grayscale) is affected by this setting.

Including other features or blending modes are affected by this setting when you are working on an image in RGB or LAB color mode? I'm not going to convert the image mode to grayscale at any point.

In principle, the profiles in grayscale are like all other profiles and behave in the same way.

In a conversion profile, you'll leave source via profile connection space (usually Lab) to destination space. If the destination is grayscale, only the L layer is passed. In all cases, you have the usual remapping from source to the destination.

Fattening and gray gamma are your just different response curves, like Adobe RGB is gamma 2.2 and ProPhoto gamma 1.8. Fattening is intended to compensate for ink spread when it hits the paper. You can consider fattening as equivalent in CMYK and gamma as equivalent to RGB (this is just a rough analogy of course).

One thing that is affected by your work, gray, is how you see the individual channels in the Panel layers. Here your grey work is assigned, what determines how values are represented. Similarly, all readings of grayscale in the info panel and elsewhere, are relevant to the gray work.

  • Photoshop - new Images are black and white only

I'm working on a wallpaper and I import the background and I'm going to hide the logo until the inside of the outline of the logo is an image. I'm looking online for some good photos test and see what I like best. I uploaded a photo and the colors were only black and white. I thought that maybe something was wrong with the picture so I had another image, and the same thing happens.

I have found something like this but desaturated colors, although not all black and white. My proof Setup is: work CMYK. I do not think that I have never changed it, so I don't know if this actually caused this problem. I don't know exactly all the settings in Photoshop so if you describe something like change a setting, it would be very appreciated if you told me where he was, etc.

  • How can I create tints of a PMS color in Illustrator CS3?

    Hello

I have an Illustrator file in CMYK mode. I am limited to 2 colors for printing on this project, so I want to use black and a spot color PMS 5565.

I wish I could create nuances (hue) of the PMS color for a few variations, but do not see the color sliders.

If I double-click the PMS color in the Swatches palette, shade options are:

Color type: which has the value "tones".

    Global is checked

    The color mode is CMYK.

I just thought of another question. If black is my color, I would be able to use shades of black to get gray. So, when I double click on a black background in the swatch palette, a black CMYK version comes up. So I have to choose a 'black' spot as well? Or can I change the document in grayscale color mode? Wait, I just checked. There is no grayscale mode in Illustrator.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You have the color Panel open and the Swatch Group? When you choose a PMS color in the Swatch Panel, the color Panel there will be an available slider to change the hue of the PMS.

  • NTSC or PAL

    Hello

I am ready to buy the new AVCHD HDR-AX2000 camcorder available in the U.S. for some 3500USD.

I'm in Namibia, the TV PAL Mac Standard is NTSC, means FX HDTV 24Mbps 1920 x 1080/60i, 30 p, and 24 p mode.

    My question:

-What are the problems for capture and edit with PPR CS4 in this mode and then export in HDTV 24 p or 50i...

-Any other door apartment ev. the 110-volt charger (Yes, we can in Namibia 220V)

Please advice, thanks in advance, JPB

I would never buy a camera NTSC, if the majority of the work is to PAL. Conversion is never a good idea. It takes too long and it creates a quality hit. B & H have some models in PAL versions. Other points of sale can have the same. An alternative is to look at the http://www.globalmediapro.com/ , but be aware that they do not have the reputation of B & H. Some are positive, but others are quite negative in their experiences and opinions.

  • Mode of stacking in Photoshop CS4

    Hi all

I try to use the "stacking of layers - smart objects - mode"option. However 'stacking mode' is grayed out. I read on some forum posts that this feature is available only with CS4 extended.

Can someone tell me if that is correct. And if so is there a way to upgrade to allow me to get the long version?

    Thank you

You are welcome. If you choose to get CS6, you won't have to buy new Lr. If you do not get Ps CC will Lr free and updates (5.7 Lr and Ps CC 2014 15.0 currently) free.
