  Renaming taskmgr.exe something else worked for me.  The virus that was on my machine called 'Internet Security Essentials'.  Its executable was in (Windows XP) Documents and Settings\all users\application data\d800ce\isd80_2112.exe.  Although workaround for the task manager worked, Internet Explorer does not see the internet at present.  The registry has been changed on this machine.

  The error that you normally get is due to a lack of Message special access permission rights. You can learn more about this here. You will notice in the section Additional Considerations that he mentions this authorization. You can manage permissions on a per connection basis in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration. The permissions are listed on the Security tab in the connection Properties dialog box.

  Could check you the permission level and see if that solves it.

  Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

I have to close Acrobat to make the file stop multiplying itself. Also cannot save the workbook file after attempting to combine PDFs into one file.   Right-click your shortcut icon, go to compatibility and "run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".   I have also "run this program as Administrator" checked... but who did nothing by itself.

  This solution has cured my problem.
