CSRSS virus or program needed?

I have a file that says windows csrss. the properties say it's from microsoft, but I heard it is a virus / trojan worm. How will I know if it's one way or the other? I use windows XP Professional 32

Hello

Where do you see the Csrss.exe file?

Csrss.exe is the part of the Win32 subsystem user mode; Win32.sys is the kernel-mode. CSRSS means Client/Server Run-Time Subsystem and is an essential subsystem that must run continuously. CSRSS is responsible for console windows, creating or deleting threads, and implementation of some parts of the 16-bit virtual MS-DOS environment.

Note: The Csrss.exe file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
If you see this file in a different location, it may be an a virus, spyware, Trojan or worm.

You can run a Microsoft Security Scanner to make sure that the computer is free of infections:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note:
the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
