Server 2008 Network issues: supposed routing problem
Hey,.
I'm quite new to ESXi and virtualization, but after going to a network of customers of the otherday and the discovery of a few quirks, I downloaded ESXi5 and I am experiancing the same weird questions here.
Essentially the issue I found was that I could perform nslookup against a name short end but ping or attempt to connect to a share on the short name did not work.
Ping or connect to a share on FQDN works as expected as the fact using one IP address.
I installed a new copy of ESXi5 and then treated a virtual computer running server 2008 here in the House.
Upon installation, the machine could not ping itself or any network with a name short but device could run nslookups.
New ping and connect to shares works very well on IP and domain FULL name
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere.
Dave
EDIT: I will add that I installed a copy of Server 2008 on a standard in the House and short machine work exactly as expected.
Edit 2: I looked into this more and my routing table shows 0.0.0.0 network - prefix 0 - Gateway 192.168.0.1.This network has no switches, concentrators, simple as it is just a test home network. How can I solve this problem of routing?

Here is a copy of the ping the server attempts to ping itself via shortname:
Dave
It's the magic screenshot
The ping command is interpreting your hostname, 0x3c, as a hexadecimal number and deciding that you want to ping 0.0.0.60. Is not a valid remote, so ping generates an unknown error.
It is strongly recommended that a Windows Server name starts with a letter, and you have found one of the strange bugs about why.

This was the solution! The works of vpn as $ 1 million now. I followed the instructions above to enter the uninstall program and selecting the repair option. I'm trying to get the phone number and the information that I need to activate an installation of Server 2008. The server is my DC and sits on a closed network cannot reach the Internet. The installation was interrupted for more than 60 days, so to request activation. I'm not allowed to modify the current installation (i.e. relocation Server 2008). I have my current PID.
When I go through the activation process, it fails with the error 0x8010002E. It gives me all the options for offline activation. The error code is for 'Lack of Smart Card Reader'. It's my DC so he shouldn't use a smart card to log on or to make administrative functions due to possible failure with the card reader software.
How can I do it manually with these questions offline activation?

my Windows Media Player does not work all of a sudden... any ideas?
When I click on the Windows Media Player icon, nothing happens. When I put a CD to play, nothing happens. I just used it to play music over the two days... what would happen to fail?
Hi bunkysmom1,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2. you receive an error message?
Method 1
This problem occurs because the Windows Media Player library database is corrupted.
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
(a) output Windows Media Player.
(b) click Start, click run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
(c), select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
(d) restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
Method 2
If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:
(a) output Windows Media Player.
(b) click Start, click run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.
(c) select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.
(d) restart Windows Media Player.
Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
Method 3
If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.
The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 not allowing not offsite (used to work) drive mapping
Hello
My company runs a server that has a shared drive. The car was previously accessible mapping for off site through DNS, but who has recently stopped working. I can map the drive on our local network, and we can reach the server from offsite via Remote Desktop. The computers trying to reach the server running Win 7 Pro.
When we try to map the drive from off-site, we choose a drive letter and type the server name as https://SERVERNAME on the line 'folder '. When we got finished, it tries to connect, and then we get "Windows cannot access https://SERVERNAME - check the spelling of the name." Otherwise there could be a problem with your network. "When you look at the details, you see" error code: 0 x 80070043, network name could not be found ' it gives you the ability to diagnose, but this utility is unable to identify the problem.
I tried to Google the error message, problems with mapping and I do not see anything that seems useful. I know very little about the works the mapping of files, so I don't really have a starting point for troubleshooting.
Thanks for any help you can give!
ETA: I tried to disable the firewall on the server to see if that was the problem and still not connect. He asked for credentials three times, and then returned "access denied" with no further details. Frustrating!

I just completely describe the scenario below on what happened. Help, please. I'm from areas of technology for 22 years that too with Microsoft Products since 1988, so you can understand my frustration with these issues on windows.
Information:
OS: Windows XP SP3
Update: Everyday - installation Custom patch but still priority all updates first and during the weekends the bottom, otherwise I'll finish by only installing the patches :-)
Software on my computer: Office Professional 2007, Expression Studio 3, Visual Studio 8 SP1, SQL Server 2005 SP2, IE 8, FireFox, Chrome.(1) three weeks, I suspected that it was a malware based on the behavior of IE 8, which means very slow race, taking too much time processor etc. and finally one of the site hacked with javascript injection, so I thought that something goes wrong.
(2) rebuild the - F11 - machine since the machine is HP, use F11 to rebuild the machine where it formats the entire machine and take him back to the factory settings.
(3) disconnected internet, installed everything I need. COMAST asks its users to install the Symantec Norton instead of McAfee installed so that we were leaving so, full a check found nothing etc. It's not allowed me to install the bulk of the security, if you want to know. System has worked fine for a week.
(4) noticed the same problems last week. Even what is happening, first blammed Norton, then booted in safe mode. Removed Norton, could not bring back my system again. Just, it does nothing or will some kind of loop I think. So I gave up on it.
5) rebuild using F11 - initial factory setting. This time, released the IP from comcast as well because I suspected that someone likes my IP :-) Now, instead of Norton, I installed Windows first and installed security malicious Malware Removal necessary. This tool crashes because it's the end. same questions again. IE 8 slow... etc... tired of this shit.
(6) to rebuild again without anything between comcast and computer (deleted this thing of Vonage in the middle). Disconnected until everything is scanned etc. All hard drives external and everything. This time, I installed Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2010, hoping that this will solve something that doesn't have Norton and it allows essential security next.
(6) Worked fine for a while and started crashing again, IE 8 give me too many questions. Something common in all scenarios, I found, is it ask again me in IE 8 to install the latest Adobe Player - even if I downloaded from the adobe Web site separately. Something looks bad here for me, not sure. Firefox or Chrome is not that they work very well, but I think that since they wok well, but causing the malware flow and does not ask the user to install the plug-in.
(7) so that everything works very well. This time, I found that I can not access any site Web de Kaspersky Anti-virus except Kaspersky. All other sites such as Symantec, McAfee, Avast, or you name it are not available. They come back with a message that says: this type of request is not served. Kaspersky, I could see, but no style sheet not nothing, at least the content came and it let me download the trial version.
(8) ok. Finally, Kaspersky has found a virus and removed. Same essential security does as well. But now I got it again. Windows XP to break at any time, I can't rely on it more and do not know if someone steals my password.
(9) for more information, I uninstalled essential security I read somewhere that if several anti-virus brings this scenario. No luck, still has the same issues. This time I won't have to rebuild, just mix the windows in the trash and my 22-year career to move to something better, even if I know there is none. But at least away from the computer for a while.
Help.

I have fixed everything at the time of my desktop computer starts up to a screen black with no explorer.exe running (the explorer.exe running only showed a folder at a time, until I restarted it.) and now I have a connection problem.
My netgear router has a connection with my computer, it shows green in the taskbar. However, my actual connection to the internet is not as lucky as the connection with the router.
I see the networks that I am able to connect to, but as soon as I did, I said that I am not currently connected to any network. If I go to "Connect to a network" I see clearly that I'm "connected with limited access" to Snet-G, which is one of the networks available to connect.
In my options of netgear, I am also connected to Snet-G, and it shows that it is actually connected.
My problem is the fact that I can "ipconfig" and I find none of my information, and when I try to ipconfig/all, it gives me an error something while not connected, so it says that I'm connected and does not, at the same time. My local internet does not work (can not navigate to 192.168.1.1 and others), and of course for this reason, my global internet does not work.
I need a fix for this, because I just put a ton of subscriptions for this month, which are already paid, and if I can't use this month is a good slice of $50 trash just because I fixed something.
Thanks, that's a well advanced topic.
I tried the following:
System Restore (6 days back, the problem started 2 days ago)
Restarting the computer
Unplug modem (30 seconds)
Restarting the router/Reset
Connection to the Snet-N instead of the Snet-GThings to take note, if you do not already consider: I can't connect to my router config (192.168.1.1), my computer says I am connected locally, but not in the world.I have some information about the modem if necessary.-I have restored my computer 6 days ago, but only changed my problem with explorer.exe back. Internet broke again-. -.Hello

My Apple Watch appears to be dead. The watch screen is black. I have not matched the watch and we tried pair again, but the iPhone doesn't seem to acknowledge that she and I can't manually pair either. Any ideas on what's going on?
Charge the watch first. Instructions here > check your battery and load your Apple Watch - Apple Support
If necessary, restart the Apple Watch.
You should force reboot your device as a last resort, and only if it does not. To force the restart your Apple Watch, press in and hold the side button and the digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, and then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.
