D7160 on OSX 10.9.3

Just installed 10.9.3 this morning, now, the printer does not seem to be communication.   Printer preferences show that it is the default printer.  When I tried to print (several times), I get the message

Order - failure to "Filter", 1 page

What's next?  I really need my printer!

Thank you

Welcome to the forums of Judy

I saw your post about the upgrade for the Mavericks and now your Photosmart D7160 won't work for you. This model of printer doesn't have a driver available on Mavericks.

It's your option to use the D7160 with 10.9:

  • Sierra OSX mail

    Hi Apple,

Just upgraded to OSX Sierra 10.12 (A 16, 323), MacBook Pro (17 inch, early 2011).

    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, RAM = 8 GB DDR3 at 1333 MHz.

After upgrading to Sierra, e-mail was completely rebuild, and now the app slows system performance where my Mac is almost unusable.  Spinning balls, delays of 30 seconds, etc..

After leaving messaging, things speed up slightly.  Restart my Mac accelerates again until I run the Messaging.

Could you please tell, and if it is a common problem, could you please address it in the next update of Sierra?  Had no problem under Yosemite.

    Thank you very much
    Erik

  • Mac OSx Sierra Time Machine WD my cloud

Since upgrading to Mac OSX Sierra my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air are not capable of doing Time Machine back Ups to a WD MyCloud drive that is connected to our router.

We have updated the firmware on the WD My Cloud drive to the latest version and contacted WD on this problem, so far they have not come with a solution to the problem.

If you open Time Machine preferences and then observe what happens, by hitting 'Back Up Now' systems do "Looking to save the disc" then "Preparing backup" then stop and then go back to the status of 'rest' without backup anything to the top at all. It is the same on both machines. You can see here: Time Machine Back Up My Cloud

Notice how the drive icon changes to the point where it stops working and then goes to the other drive which is a USB.

Now, to complicate the issue further... an iMac connected via Ethernet to the router can go back to the My Cloud drive perfectly as before. If Apple changed something with the wireless protocols I think but that?

    Hi stevefrompembury,

Thanks for posting in the Community Support from Apple! I understand that your or your Mac back up Time machine since the update. Backups are certainly crucial to ensure that your data remains secure, so I'm happy to offer some suggestions.

You have already tried a few milestones. I recommend you take a look through this article so that you have covered all the steps mentioned, including the section titled 'Control your readers': If you can not back up or restore your Mac with Time Machine

    Hello

You must have the latest version of iTunes (12.5.1.21). If no updates appear in the Mac App Store, it means probably that it's only available for future versions of Mac OS X, or as it is now called macOS.

  • upgrade to OSX 10.12 Sierra 10.6.8

I have a MacMini running 10.6.8 mid-2010 Core2Duo. Only 2 GB of RAM, but I bought more (went wild and bought 2 4 GB 'cards' to replace the two original things from 1 GB) and install it after I do the upgrade (or did I miss something on the order of things... because I don't think that the new RAM is recognizable to OS 10.6.8... seems I read that somewhere) (, perhaps to OWC in descriptions of fleas?)

I'm following the discussion 6271steps, the upgrade to 10.7 and above. I think it of a little too complete and covers many too on the ground which may not be suitable to my situation. I need to do this because 10.6.8 browsers are supported by less and less my online services (bank account, doctor, etc.) ... and of course, I need at least 10.10 download, install and use Google Chrome, if I want to access these accounts, for example.

I'm hanging installation 10.7 Lion - point I paid for and downloaded the installer, so I'm ready to press the button install. I have two independent full backups on external drives, as recommended (disconnected).

    1. what happens next? The installation program will erase my hard drive to install the new OS? (There seems to be an indication that may arise - in this article - but it's not clear to me).

If so, I guess I'll have to use one of these backups to get all my data, files, any return on the Mini?

    2. after that, the discussion indicates I'll need to upgrade from 10.7 to 10.7.5 until I can go to Sierra; is this fair? In the discussion 6271, there is the following:

«Note, as the last written of this trick, only available to 10.6.6 upgrades are 10.6.7, 10.6.8 10.7, and take up to 10.7 10.7.5 Combo, Supplemental updateand Security Update 2014-004 10.7.5 followed by 10.7.5 Bash update.»  Available only to 10.6.8 upgrades are 10.7, 10.8. »

3 the above quote does that I have the "combo, additional import" AND ALL THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES before I can install Sierra? (In other words, 4 additional "installed" after installation of 10.7, just preparation to take the giant step Sierra?)

    4. I understand, is that the only options available for me at the moment are:

    Upgrade to 10.7

    Update to 10.7.5

Upgrade to 10.12 (no intermediate OS is available is never again?)

(Reason for asking, is that the original discussion 6271 has several statements to be able to upgrade to 10.8 and more than 10, 7 - see #2 above, but I thought that Apple has stopped supporting 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10, 10.11 and don't allow anyone who has not already install.)

    5. an another link/rabbit Hutch in article 6271 says I need to install an update of the firmware to 10.6.8 if I want to 'internet restoration/command-R' * 10.7 (if something goes wrong, I guess, in all of the above steps). This document (article HT202313-"Computers that can be upgraded to use the Internet OSX recovery") provides links to the required firmware update. What do need me, or the installation of 10.7 and up to reduced Sierra negate the need for such an approach? (telling me I CAN do something without being clear, if I REALLY NEED to take this step, confuses me.)

    6. I have the original installation discs for my MacMini, but I do not remember if it came with OSX 10.6.4 or had 10.6.8 when I bought it. I can't find a 10.6.8 updater anywhere. Would not be "restoring the internet" average I would be taken back to 10.6.x when I used the original disks; If so, I would be able to return to 10.7 at all, or which would force to buy me a new computer?

In summary, it would be a great help for me if I had a list of the steps that I really have to take to get my computer to use the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, in the order that they should be made, without all the links not applicable and sidetrips that don't apply to other versions of OSX servers or people who use Java to develop stuff...

    * (question 5 above: this quote is from "Doc 2465 #Eight"-)

    "

Q: I have an old 2011 Mac and command-R won't let me restore of Mac OS X 10.7, or later on the internet.  Is there a way to allow him to do?

A: Yes.   Update the firmware, as evidenced by this article:computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery - Apple Support

To ensure you have the right firmware first, see this tip:

What should I do if I find a used without the original CD machine?

Really sorry to be so needy, but it is a great leap forward and I need to be able to use a current browser and better protected than 10.6.8 Mac OSX... and well, I want to do things.

Thanks for that help you can provide!

    Blick

    1. it will not be unless a problem arises.

2 installation of the Mac App Store of the Lion version upgrades the computer to 10.7.5.

    3 No.

    4. you can switch to Mountain Lion or El Capitan(but only from 10.6.8) If you wish.

    5. This step is important only if you replace the hard drive, or a problem with the drive itself (not just the operating system).

    6. without the recovery of the Internet system, you will need to use a disk or an external drive in the case of #5.

  • iPhone 6 Plus (iOS 10.0.2) does not synchronize Photos via iTunes (12.5.1.21) on OSX Sierra

Since the update to OSX Sierra and iOS10, I can't sync my Photos between the OSX Photos Photos app and iOS through iTunes. I do not use the iCloud photo library as I have too many pictures. Synchronization between the iPhone and iTunes via the USB cable is abandoned. Can you please help?

Error message is: "the iPhone" iPhone 6 more "could not be synchronized because the synchronization session failed to end.

It's not work at all?  Have you tested to synchronize just a few photos, and not all at the same time?  Is it possible to synchronize at least a JPG file to iPhone?

Synchronization finished, if you are trying to synchronize the pictures at all? It could be another synchronized element that generated this message.

  • Load OSX on 2014 macbook air problems

Hey guys, dude this device telling me that he had bought earlier by someone who had deleted the info private and he has said that he needs to enter the password to access the desktop computer. The thing is, no matter what he tried it is not on the desktop, I think the OSX could have been deleted accidentally or not. I also think that the password which he received from the seller is a hard drive password and not osx password. As shown in the first screenshot, looks like this unit came with Yosemite and wants to go to Apple to reinstall, but when I try to do is to show an error. I tried to do a restore, but get a display of the error "Startup disk cannot be used as a source of food.

Then drag the iPhoto library icon pictures open to create a new library of Photos of her.

  • How downgrade Sierra and/or El Capitan Mac OSX?

    Hello world

I have an old Macbook Pro Late 2011 13 "with 8 GB of RAM and a 2.4 i5 proc. I would like to install macOS Sierra, for the moment I have installed Mavericks. I still do not clean installs.

I wanted to know if I install macOS Sierra, and I say that I don't like or it slows down my mac much, can I go down to the Mavericks? If so how please? Using the USB install I created to install macOS Sierra? With the help of a time Machine + Time Capsule?

Is it possible to downgrade to El Capitan too if I decide to install El Capitan instead of macOS Sierra?

    Thanks for your help!

As you have installed the Mavericks on your 2011 MBP, it should be available in your account from App store.

Use these instructions for installation and older OSX:

  • I have problems when you try to use a current OSX on my Mac eco system, causal link - specific needs on the three or four main applications.

My systems include the MacMini, MB Air, Pro MB [all 2011] on OSX 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, with a MacMini extra [2011] with the help of El Capitan (for the purposes of the trial) as well as an iPadAir2 and an iPhone - both on iOS 9.

I joined the eco system (from Windows) Mac to Snow Leopard and fortunately this used for all my needs. moving through the Mountain Lion and Lion (quickly), where I is a happy user!

Failure to make progress in terms OSX is the result of...

    1. my extensive libraries of pictures were worked on - and are still being held in - iPhoto ' 09 (8.1.2) - which met my needs exactly - I have many albums which photos should be sorted manually - that is to say, not by Date, the former/Newest or title!  So, the current Photos app does not work as well for me on for my Scrapbook sort, although apparently it allows the movement only photo by mouse?
    2. I made 'heavy' use of iCal using many individual alert entries (!) of my choice as to the date, time, etc. and not very limited alert options offered by the newer versions (iOS-like) to iCal, where I use the alert custom-making every time! I avoid editing or for alerts in iOS 9 because o f the limited options available.
    3. I am a user passionate worksheet and delayed moving on numbers of Excel. I moved platforms for Cougar and live joyfully on numbers now with stored copies online as well.

Tempting to work in El Capitan, I am "forced" to spend my worksheets to the most recent numbers app when I come to save and cannot then use the 'improved' version recorded on my systems of Mountain Lion (where I still pure copies!) -similar events occur when you use Pages; the lack of recoil connectivity is a major drawback for me that I apparently must keep OSX Mountain Lion to use my key apps 'base' to meet my needs!

Are there workarounds 'smart' (or applications) that will overcome all (or part) of these "disadvantages", allowing me to good progress and update on El Capitan OSX (and Sierra at the right time)?

I have to start using a different calendar system to have the usable alert options (which deviates from the eco system) systems on the scale?

Should I go back to using Windows Excel (or Online) to my spreadsheet to have facilitated cross-OSX usage?

    Thank you.

On applications of numbers and Pages, there is a real problem if you need backward compatibility - alas, I don't have a solution for you.

But I do not understand what limits you talk in calendar alerts. I can add events and alerts for them in El Capitan (and now Sierra) using the same methods that I used in previous versions. I can receive messages, sounds or emails in any number and both custom of my choice. Can you serious? Maybe post screenshots of before and after? I'm not available for the comparison of older systems. There are indeed limits if do you the same thing in iOS, but AFAICT not on the mac - and, especially, the alerts personalized on the mac are correctly transferred to the iOS device that I use (an iPhone), to my first mac.

  • Full screen does not work after upgrade; OSX hangs

Immediately after the upgrade later El Capitan in Sierra, full function display has stopped working at the end of a disastrous. Not only can I not enter or exit the mode full screen on any application (Safari, iBooks, Terminal, etc.), but in addition, I can't event begin any application which was mode full screen before upgrade (essentially all other applications that I use on my mac). Nor can I drag-finger-three to any application full screen. OSX just hangs and displays the login screen as it has not started.

Indeed, my mac is useless now, I can't do anything with it. I tried to restart the PRAM, has tried to repair my disk, tried various 'normal' things, which none worked. Can someone help me with this?

    Hello konkere,.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that after upgrade to macOS Sierra as your MacBook Pro doesn't work well for you. I know how it is important for your MacBook Pro to be in place and functional after the software update. Reset the PRAM and repair the disk are key steps in troubleshooting. I also recommend reinstall macOS Sierra of OS X Recovery.

    How to reinstall OS X

OS X can be installed on the same version or an earlier version of Mac OS X, without deleting your data. You don't need to remove or disable the existing system first.

    1. Start of OS X Recovery now command-r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the OS X Utilities window.
    2. If you do not want to wipe your drive before reinstalling OS X, open utility disk in OS X Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase the drive. Quit disk utility when done.
Erase the disc is not necessary unless you're your Mac transfer to a new owner, partitioning your drive for use with Boot Camp, or attempt to solve a problem this as disk utility can't repair.
    3. Choose to reinstall OS X OS X Utilities window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the latest version of Mac OS X, which has already been installed on your Mac.

    Best regards.

Secure erase is not necessary if you use FileVault to encrypt the drive. In addition, do not use any fix erase secure on an SSD.
