DBF file

What is a DBF file?

Very probably a any database file.

DBF is a file format usually used by database software. DBF is synonymous with database file. DBF files were originally used in dBase II and continued through dBase IV Version. DBF file format issued by Ashton-Tate, but is meant by Act!, Clipper, FoxPro, Arago, Wordtech, xBase and similar the database ordatabase-related products.

DBF files can also be opened by Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

  • Spoiled dbf file. by what means it can be restored?

Two dbf file and also index corresponding to them, files do not open in the Visual FoxPro program. In Windows, they can be copied to the other folder, rename, delete, simply display the WinCommander F3.  The files are stored on a portable hard drive. Such an impression that during the work of the program, during the recording of the information on the disk, there is a failure at a low level. Invite, please, as (through which programs), it is possible to restore files?

  • Expected .dbf files copied from old house Oracle Oracle home again after an upgrade out of place?

    Hello

I recently performed an upgrade out of place of Oracle 11.2.0.2 at 11.2.0.4 by following the checklist to upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1).  While doing an RMAN backup, I noticed he was doing market back files .dbf since the old Oracle 11.2.0.2 rather than the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 Directory directory.  The .dbf files that are being backed up are not in the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory.  Must the .dbf files be copied to the Oracle of old House to the new House Oracle after an upgrade?

    Thank you in advance.

RMAN's backup of .dbf files to ' / db/oracle/dbs ' and ' / oracle, db, dbs, emtkorcl.  With the RMAN list command .dbf files in ' / oralce/db/dbs ' are not in ' / oracle/11.2.0.4/db/dbs' and there is no ' / oracle/11.2.0.4/db/dbs/emtkorcl' directory.

In the checklist Upgrade Oracle (Doc ID 1276368.1), I could see not all the instructions to copy all the old Oracle Directory .dbf files to the new.  I was wondering if that is by design (.dbf files remain in the old Oracle Directory and somehow referenced in the new Oracle Directory) and what happens when I do a restore RMAN.

    > .dbf files that are being backed up are not in the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory.

If you start working & only installed database 11.2.0.2 a new copy of the Oracle of 11.2.204, then of course there no data files in the new directory.

Most people have NOT stored in/under ORACLE_HOME Oracle data files.

There is no need to have the Oracle datafiles reside under the new Oracle 11.2.0.4 directory

    Dear friends,

I will delete a dbf file now.

I want to recover the backup.

Would like to know, what kind of commands/steps would be involved.

You must have the backup of the file
    backup control files
database is in log mode archive if you use rman
    After you delete the file
    connect via rman
    1. take the tablespace offline containing this data file.
    1 restore datafile (can check of dba_data_files);
    3. recover the data file< no="" of="" dadtafile="" or="" name="">
    4 take tablespace online.

  • UCR does not remove the dbf file

    Hello

I just tried to drop the SOAINFRA schema and re-create it.
However, recreation failed, because the old .dbf file has not been deleted.
Leisure worked only after the file has been deleted manually.

    Env:
    Widows, Oracle Database 11 g 2

Yes, I'm aware THAT RCU runs as sys.

The user you started the database? It is this user who needs access to the ora_dba group.

This isn't a mistake of the UCR, the error occurs because windows locks up the tablespace. Even if you manually delete the tablespace will be locked to the dbf file.

    see you soon

  • Users01.dbf file is too large

    Hello
I'm using oracle 11g and oracle hyperion. I've created many applications in hyperion. The application metadata are owned by oracle db. Now I see that I am running out of space the drive where I installed oracle 11 g. The USERS01.dbf file is over 6 GB in size. And that's the main reason I am facing difficulties on my hyperion correctly.
Can someone pls tell me how can I reduce the size of the USERS01.dbf? It will undermine if I delete the file? I am very confused as the database holds metadata for many of my applications. What should I do? Any suggestion?

    Thank you.

    DO NOT DELETE!

Contributes to the management, I doubt it since it is 11g and it's good with segment but try below first:
Merge and shrink the tablespace. Then try to resize. If extensions are the end of the file being used the resizing will fail.

Second, stop your database (if you can) and commissioning in the mount status. Move USERS. DBF to another drive and then change the file path in the database.
    ALTER database rename datafile 'D:\oradata\prod\users.dbf' to 'F:\oradata\prod\users.dbf ';

Remember, 6 GB is NOT huge. In fact, it is quite normal. If it has achieved this size, there is a reason for that. Make more space, usually it is the cheapest way.

Tables really don't care of dbf files. Tables are stored in the tablespaces. Storage spaces are logical structures that consist of one or more data files.

Take a look at dba_tables to know what tablespace one table belongs.
Take a look at dba_data_files to cross-match a tablespace to a data file.

  • DBF file get corrupted

Hi, someone at - it never gets their dbf table go corrupt? I don't get my data or corrupted in any other software in my computer different ArcView files. So, I don't think I have a virus. It almost seems like a glitch in the program, the reason is perhaps that I have Edit and save the file so many times in a day to just corrupted after so many changes.

    How to fix?

    Any help, thanks!

I had the same problem repeatedly. I found that when I'm ready to stop editing, if I save the data with the menu choice "table, save the changes", rather than "stop editing", then save the changes, it seems not jumble the database. This method works only part of the time, however. I also found that if I backup on a disk, tape or zip, while ArcView is running, it will be helter skelter databases. This does not answer your question, I don't know, but maybe it will help to give a little more information, so that someone else can point us toward a cure.

  • What are the different use of ACFS and DBFS files case?

    Hi gurus

    Concerning

    Hitgon

I don't see any use for DBFS. Just a historical anomaly.

ACFS has any number of use cases, not necessarily related to a database. Encryption, snapshots and replication are brilliant abilities. Use it to replace all your third-party file systems and file servers. I use a public Webinar on this topic next week if interested.

  • How to restore the database only with redolog, ctl and dbf files

    Hi friends,

I had an oracle 11g database, but the server is down. So I just save only the DBF, CTL and REDOLOG files. But I couldn't save the file spfile and pwd.

How to restore this database in the other server? How can I recreate the spfile?

I hope someone can give me a hand.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Thanks for all your advice.

I try to recreate an environment equal to the original.

I have install windows server 2003 and install the database from oracle 10.1 all default options.

I create the directory D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\. Then I put the files (*.) CTL *. DBF, *. Log) in this directory.

After this, I create a pfile file in: D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\database\init.ora with only the db_name and the control_file, the compatibility settings.

Then open a CMD and create a service, set the ORACLE_SID and try to start the database:

    oradim-new - sid

    Set ORACLE_SID =

    sqlplus / as sysdba

    startup nomount pfile='D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\database\init.ora';

    change the editing of the database;

    ALTER database open;

    And, the open database

After I install Oracle Sql Developer, and I can connect to instance and check the tables.

But when I try to do an export of CMD, I get tracking errors:

You're in luck! ;) Tom Kyte put up a set to do this, you can find it here:
    http://asktom.Oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:711825134415

Another possibility is that the file can be read by Excel - some can, some can't. I learned
    Tthat here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBase

I use it myself all the time - but a word of warning. Not all dbase files have the
same format. I had to change the pkg slightly. Tom Kyte post above, you
    can find more information here:
    http://www.clicketyclick.dk/databases/Xbase/format/
and also check out these sites if you have any problems
http://www.dBASE.com/knowledgebase/int/db7_file_fmt.htm and there is the reference
site for any problems with the file formats: www.wotsit.org - there are C code there and
This is may be of some use.

"DBFS filesystems can always hold files of shell script or binary file, but if it is mounted with the direct_io option, files on DBFS is not executable. In this case, a second file DBFS system may be used because it can be mounted without the option direct_io to support executable files or scripts. »
