  I'm new here, but looked in the forums for a solution to my problem, which is:

  I am trying to improve my HP 7600 SFF 1 GB RAM (256 X 4)-(4 X 1 GB). The first reason is that the machine was running slower and slower, a CMOS error on boot up and, like me, was aging. I thought that RAM boost would be the answer I was looking for so I ordered 4 GB of RamBo DDR2 PC2 5300 667 MHz, which is an option of HP of the machine (I mean, not the RamBO but the 1 GB/667). Logic... I know.

  Now, the machine is old and it has served me very well for a long time, it was originally a XP machine and when I changed it out for a new model, it was removed and I put it in my garage running Linux Mint something or other and he continued to fulfill faithfully when I need which is very often.

  If 4 GB of DDR2 PC2 5300 667 MHz (4 X 1) arrives today and I set it up expecting an effect a little viagra power upward and the performance (I said, as the machine, I'm old)... nothing!

  Well this is not correct; I had five beeps and a RED LED led on the front, and that's all! It is apparently a RAM question... no real surprise!

  When I put the 4 X 256 MB and it booted OK!

  I have reset the CMOS (I think)

  I tried each stick individually and in pairs in the black sites, with the same result... five beeps and the power button flashes red so I do not think one any of them are damaged

  System BIOS is 1 786 v1.03... I don't know if I should update it, have never... don't know how!

  Oh!, when I replaced the CMOS battery, I couldn't believe the amount of dust blocking the fan and fins of the CPU... That's why it was so slow at the time and I should have known that.

  In any case, I have now 4 GB of Ram I would use any help to operate would be appreciated...

  I read your post on food and wanted to help you!  I understand that you are concerned about upgrade options.

  You should be able to improve the power you want.  The Office should take but a lot of power, it must, food that is installed.  Just check that the power supply to use, firmly enters the tower.  Based on the Specifications of the product, you can find the dimensions tour here:

  While the minimum requirement is power for most video cards 400W, I always offer at least 500W; 600W is even better.  This will allow a high maximum operating power.  A modular power supply is good in a medium-sized business, because just use cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better circulation of air in the case.

  This is a power supply that should work for you.  You should check the measurements of the existing PSU (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches) with the measures of the new power supply to ensure that it will not go in the space provided.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer, this is not the place to save money.

  Look at the power supply cord.  If you have a device of black brick similar to those for portable computers, then you have an external power supply. PC with external cannot be upgraded with the installation of an internal power supply as a Corsair CX500 according to HP internal.

  Joshua, welcome to the forum.

  Any video card that would work with your power supply (PSU), be much, if any, better than the integrated video.  New middle level cards require at least 350W to 400W power.  Therefore, if you don't want to upgrade the PSU, I recommend staying with the integrated graphics subsystem.  In fact, the problem is to find a card that works.  Manufacturers do not give the requirements of power on their lower level cards.

  If you decide to improve the PSU, I like Corsair and OCZ.  That would give you many more choices of cards.  I love EVGA, Sapphire, XFX and PNY in that order.

  Note: Remember that your system is not as good as the weakest component.  With the CPU and memory that you have a better map would greatly increase performance.

• Need of advice, the GPU upgrade and power

  Since this is my first post here I would start by saying hello to everyone. I recently bought an HP Elite M9400t Core 2 Duo Quad 2.5 GHz. It came with 4 GB of ram and an its Soundblaster wireless Xtreme pci-e card but unfortunately only came with an Nvidia 9300 GE, which is more or less a rebadged Nvidia 8400. I would like to know what are my options for the upgrade. I would like to upgrade a 680 to 700 watt power supply food to accommodate the new GPU and I've had my eye on the Geforce GTX 260, but the thing is 10.5 inches long. I measured and it would be a tight fit, but the PSU cables would be in the way, unless I went the way of a modular power supply. HP came with a 350 watt PSU. Tell me a 350 Watt power supply would be sufficient to run say a Nvidia 9600 gt or say a solution simple 9800 gt slot. They all have two minimum system requirements of 400 watts... But.  And. will be a more recent judgment out of the PSU shelves fit in my case? And there at - it no real advantage to using the modular power supply she calls space-saving? Thank you for your help in advance.

  This 9600 GSO is easily from 550 to 700 MHz overclock with ATI tool or equivalent, to put it in with the 9800 GTX.

  I've not used one, but he claims he mirror, extend or rotate. I'll take 'mirror' to signify to display the same image on another monitor. I take "extend" meaning display a new picture above, below, left or right of an existing image.
