  So yes I have this PC that originally came with a 1.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo, since summer becomes a bit slow in recent years, I've upgraded to a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, I took this particular processor as it was more than the processor spec listed on the list of specifications of HPs, I know that some of these machines can be very picky with the CPUs.

  My question is this computer will play well with 775 alternative processors which are not on the list of support such as a Core 2 Quad or a Quad Core Xeon or is it pretty well nailed to those indicated on the support page?

  There are the Pentium D 925, 930... both are 3 GHz.  The 925 is supported, but is not the 930.

  Your only option is the ECS Support and their BIOS versions.

  Only the BIOS shown is the default version.

  Sorry, no. You cannot move an OEM license on another computer.

  You can move the windows on a new computer

  If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

  If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.
