  I have a HP 8000 Elite (which is similar to the 6000 Pro) as my PC Backup.  I've just pulled up and I see that the hardware ID's for devices are aligned with those of the pilot I posted.

  So, you will need to manually install the driver I posted first you said did not work in Windows 7.

  Here is how to do this.

  Download and run the file (sp45367) again.  Conclusion of any windows error.

  Now, implying that you have installed W8.1 64-bit.

  Go to Device Manager and click on the device serial Port PCI needing drivers.

  Click the driver tab.

  Click on set to update driver.

  Select Browse my computer for driver and then software method at the bottom of this window, select Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

  Select disk, and then navigate to: C:\SWSetup\sp45367\SOLinf\mesrle, and then select the administration technology Active Intel (r) - device of GROUND in the list and the driver should install.

  The hardware ID for my 8000 Elite PCI Serial Port is PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_2E17, and who should be the same as yours.

  If you have installed 32-bit Pro W8.1 find the mesrl file instead.

  Our Clackamas Oregon model RR club has two laptops for Dell Optiplex 755 purchased used in a recycling shop. One who communicates with our layout, power supply via the serial port of NCE has stopped communicating and Windows Vista Device Manager indicates that the PCI serial port driver is missing and also the communication controller simple PCI and PCI bus controller drivers. I searched for hours on the download site of Dell support for these drivers and cannot find any help. I even ran a Dell diagnostic package and it reported no problem.   It should be the chipset.

  It is the engine management Intel something or other. If you do not ME, maybe disable it as well at the BIOS level. A less a potential vulnerability if you do.

• Cannot find driver for PCI serial port

  I just installed a serial PCI on my computer (XP Home SP3) card and can be seen in the Device Manager; but it comes as "PCI Serial Port" under "other devices". When I try to configure it, it tells me that there is no driver available. How to get and install a driver who won't work. I suspect that it is a generic driver (probably vserial.sys) who, for some reason any never was installed in my folder System32. When I try to use my original Windows disks, I said I can't because the files on my computer are newer than those on the disks. Can I not download and install the driver from somewhere on the MS site?

  I'm guessing that is missing one of the Intel AMT components.

  The Details tab shows that its Instance ID of device is:
