dead dv6439nr wireless network adapter

Description of the basic problem:
A few days ago, I wake my computer from sleep to find that I couldn't connect to my home wireless network.

Detailed problem description:
My WiFi is not listed in network connections.
The wireless device is not listed under devices in Device Manager, or it is in any of the other categories, and there is no "Other devices" category now to check.
HP Wireless Assistant does not open. Trying to run it, HPWAMain.exe appears in the list of running processes for a while, then closes immediately.
I tried using the switch to toggle the wifi but got no results. The light is still orange and wireless has not reappeared in all.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers wireless (sp41675) but got no results.
I tried to boot in to an installation of Windows 7 which has worked the last time that I used a few weeks ago, but the wireless device is not detected in Device Manager or Windows 7 network connection.
After each new attempt to solve the problem, I have restarted but got no results.

My laptop is eligible free repair?

Can I just send my adapter wireless for HP and ask them to send me a new?

My wireless card is labelled as "AS #: 418572-001 SPS #: 441090-001. An Ebay search for "441090-001" returns several cards of the same branded wireless network than mine and identical to mine in appearance. Instead of trying to get HP to fix my laptop should I buy a new wireless adapter and install it myself?

Users to read this, please answer the question if you have a relevant personal experience.
I read of clients receiving computers repaired HP with new damage (http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1245913498963+28353475&threadId=1143379), likely incurred during transport or repair of HP. After receiving a HP laptop repair, have you seen new scratches, dents, cracks, or other damage?

I have my HP laptop, works perfectly.

To answer my own questions:

Yes, my cell phone was eligible for a free repair.

No, I couldn't send just the wireless network adapter (would have been a mistake anyway).

No, HP has not damaged my laptop.

I contacted HP and established that my laptop was entitled to repair to the title of "HP limited warranty extra Service. HP sent me a box with a prepaid FedEx label, and I sent them my laptop. Before sending to my HP laptop, I removed the hard drive; the low probability of my data get damaged was unacceptable; I have backed up my data, but that would have taken two days to USB data transfer speed. I got my laptop back to HP repair in the next few days and after a thorough inspection, I find no damage to the laptop caused by HP, if it was a lil dusty. For a while I thought I found a new crack loosed in a low service panels, but after looking at the photos I had taken before sending the laptop I found that the crack is not new, so Bravo to HP.

With the laptop repaired, HP sent a document that details the "motherboard" and 'Thermal Pad' had been replaced. I was curious to know exactly what work had been done, so I called HP and asked questions about spare parts references. The "motherboard" was part number 10MBZZZ0TPJ, which a Google search has this part is also known as 443775-001 and it costs about $190 to replace. The "thermal Pad" had JXAT3001010 part number, which I have found no info on.

CAVEAT! CAVEAT! NERD RANT!
Frankly, when I first called HP on the problem, the person I spoke to kept implying that it was the motherboard that needed to be replaced NOT the wireless network adapter, and I thought it was absurd; much more likely that it was a problem of component. Now that I have the confirmation that it was the motherboard, I am quite concerned that in about two years I'm going to need a different motherboard, and the "HP limited warranty extra Service" warranty only lasts for 90 days from now. Motherboard failure should be the exception, not the norm! I have several computers that are nine and ten years OLD and works very well when properly proposed. I have my grandmother using a desktop Dell Optiplex 2000 computer to check his e-mail. I have a Mac Powerbook from 1999 that I emulate video games and I'm using a ThinkPad IBM in 2002 as a jukebox for my Entertainment Center. A few months ago I was repairing 9 old Dell Optiplex (2000 vintage) offices, on the job had a bad motherboard VGA video and a keyboard bad connection PS/2; failure motherboard 22% after nine years! For the motherboard to miss my DV6000 since 2007 is ridiculous.

skippyh2o:
Call HP. They will probably fix your problem for free.

Why you reinstall vista in the first place? Have you tried to solve the problem with your wireless network card?

If you have lost wireless once (first occurrence), reinstalled vista to try to solve the problem has got back wireless, and started to update and still lost wireless (second instance) then I would agree this is probably a software problem. If losing wireless after that resettlement was only the first occurrence of losing wireless, then maybe you should try re-reinstall. The point at which you lost wireless have actual hardware failure, it all depends on if you can get wireless back, willingly or by force. I knew my hardware problem and not software because I had an installation of Windows 7 that I knew worked very well, but still he could see my wireless network card.

In any case... Try calling HP. side of customer support call center jobs being outsourced in India, I must say that I am satisfied with the HP Technology Support; Although I'd be quite satisfied with the quality of their product!

    Hi all

    2.5 years ago I bought L-750d-159:

Wireless: Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network adapter
CPU: AMD A6 - 3400 M APU with graphics Radeon (TM) HD
    RAM: 4 GB
    OS: Windows 7 Home Edition SP1, 64-bit.
    BIOS: 2.1

For the majority of the last 2.5 years I had the same questions, alternating between them over and over again without solution in sight.

    Repetition of questions: *.
    1. wireless adapter goes dead, no help of the troubleshooter in windows. Only restart help to, rarely he demans restart another. at the same time #2 arrives:

    2. cannot read USB (IE external HARD disk). allows you to restart.

    3. wireless mouse does not respond. Randomly, reset help.

4 gel. Sometimes, when there is nothing running in the background. Of course, hard restart (only power button)

    5. office freeze.not always, but if he gets in the mood, he could go the days where minutes after I start the 'word' it would just freeze. Hard reset again.

    6. "atikmpag' blue screen. After not having it for a long time, I started just have it again.

7 power supply and battery issues:

Suddenly load stops. disconnect and reconnect do not help.
Fresh only when the computer is turned off.

    7.2 without battery:
Instant stop. Usually when you use Chrome.

These issues are alternating, everyday sense I get something else, without a prescription for them that I noticed.

    * How to try to remedy: *.
    1. updated all the drivers for the toshiba page.
    [Page drivers Toshiba | http://www.toshiba.co.il/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]

    2. update the BIOS. I do this cotton after having feeding problems, not so useful.

    3. formatting and reinsalled Windows 7 to factory settings.

I am sure that there is a solution out there, the computer itself works fine for me (when it works) and I will not buy a new one, until it falls dead (I could give a year or two).

Are you guys famliar with these questions?

Here are the proven solutions for this model?

    > 1. Wireless adapter goes dead, no help of the troubleshooter in windows. Only restart help to, rarely he demans restart another.

WLan problems could appear for different reasons. I don t think that it is a WLan driver problem. I think that you should just check the WiFi configuration.
For example, you should check whether changing the WiFi 1-11 channel would improve performance. Also change the settings for encryption (WPA/WP2-AES, TKIP) is worth trying.
Turn off all the settings for the WLan to save energy and check if there is a difference if you turn off the WLan mouse.

    > 2. Cannot read USB (IE external HARD disk). allows you to restart.
Also the issue of USB can be related to energy saving settings.
In the Device Manager-> USB Controllers-> properties-> tab power management option that allows the system to power off the device to save power.

    > blue screen "atikmpag. After not having it for a long time, I started just have it again.
This file/process is tied to the ATI graphics card. Try to use the latest graphics card driver. An update is recommended in this case.

    Battery issues:
Well, sooner or later each battery must be replaced. I put t know if your battery is malfunctioning but probably new battery would help to resolve the issue
In addition, to remove and uninstall the device control method battery Microsoft acpi located in Device Manager.

  • Wireless network adapter could not be activated

My laptop also did EXACTLY the same thing in the morning today.
No effect with the wireless on switch on the computer. The light is always red. Last night an automatic update that happened (update for windows Vista (KB955430) 09/05/2009 09:03), which cannot be deleted. I don't know if this problem is related with the update.

My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6439nr.  Running Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 1).  Wireless adapter is "broadcom wireless 802.11 b/g WLAN PCI" that is gone now.
Windows network diagnostics shows "this computer doesn't have a card installed and configured wireless network."
HP Home Network Center shows "Wireless status: disabled; When I try to enable wireless LAN, it shows "wireless network adapter could not be activated.
I tried to scan and reinstall the driver but the device does not appear.
The wireless router works fine with other laptops.
If anyone has a solution it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Alboury,
It seems at this point that your wireless network adapter has a hardware problem.  Check out this troubleshooting guide step by step on the HP Pavilion support web site.  If you can't get your active wireless card, you will need to contact HP or repair HP authorized repair for hardware Center.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s5510y of: No. Wireless Network Adapter installed

I just bought a Pavilion Slimline S5510Y Desktop opportunity; not an installed wireless network adapter.   Y at - it somewhere that I can download the map?

Here is the PAGE of SUPPORT for this office.  It doesn't have a wireless adapter.  It has a wired aka the installed ethernet card.  The wireless adapter is a piece of hardware and must be purchased, not downloaded.  There are choices in the type would work better for you - USB or PCI x 1.  It may depend on the type of network you want to use.  The new highspeed options may require an adapter corresponding to the specification of network router in order to achieve faster speeds of the AC.  If you look at the "n" speeds then most can do.  Also be aware of the bands 2.4 and 5 GHz for newer routers.  If all this sounds "Greek", then perhaps seek help from a friend.

  • Disabled wireless network adapter

The wireless network adapter in my desktop Pavilion (WE167AA under Windows 7 Home Premium) maintains have turned off. This can be fixed about half of the time by running the troubleshooter from network problems, but the rest of the time, the PC freezes during troubleshooting.

The problem occurred only in the last two weeks, after nearly four years of perfect operation. I have no manual changes to configurations. Unfortunately I do not have a system restore point from before the show began. Performance on other wireless devices in the same room are very good, so I don't know that this is not a problem with the wireless itself.

  • Satellite Pro A660 - wireless network adapter issues

Hi guys hope you can help!

    I have a Satellite Pro A660 - 11 M Windows 7-64 bit

The wireless network adapter does not work...

I tried to reinstall the bios and the driver wireless.

The wireless button is lit to Yes as the key Fn + F8 doesn't show not relevant wifi is turned on/off as usual!
It shows also in the Device Manager and BIOS.
Is there something I missed? Or is it a faulty card?

    Hello

    > It shows also in the Device Manager and BIOS.

First of all, you won't find any WLan entries in the BIOS.
But you should see the local network card in Device Manager.
If good WLan driver has been installed, the local network adapter device should appear in devices-> network cards Manager.

If WLan driver has not been installed properly, you'd still see an entry under network adapters, but it should appear as unknown device or Ethernet controller.
    You can this inscription?

In addition, the WLan driver was released on the Toshiba UE driver page.
The question is; have you chosen the right Wlan driver.
As much as I know that the laptop supports the BROADCOM 802.11(B/G/N) BCM94313 WLan card and, as a result, Broadcom Wlan driver should be used.

  • Satellite L500-13z - Windows 7 does not recognize wireless network adapter

    Hello

The Windows 7 RC Device Manager does not recognize my wireless network adapter (for example: Atheros, Intel or Realtek). I tried to install all the Toshiba support drivers, but none of them work:

After installation, they ask me to connect the unit to my computer (of course it is still on the motherboard!).

=>, Is there a way to know what is my Wifi adapter?

that one failed: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD7201PO000SR01.htm (this is the only Word to say "network adapter" with a yellow exclamation point).

-Online someone knows when will be released Windows 7 drivers on the website?

    Hello

Before you begin to install all drivers WLAN you can find on the Toshiba site you must make sure that wireless network card, you have exactly. You can check in the Device Manager-online properties-online Details of the local network adapter device.
Need you an information like PCI\VEN_XXXX & DEV_XXXX

If you have based this information you are looking for with these terms on this site in order to determine the exact WLAN card:
    http://www.PCIDatabase.com/

After that, you can download the driver appropriate for your laptop. Before installing, you must uninstall all other versions and restart the laptop.
Also, make sure that the WIFI is enabled with the hardware switch and FN + F8.

    Hi mate,

Just a simple question: have you activated the wireless network adapter using the hardware on the computer switch portable and key combination FN + F8?

Satellite L300 is permanently equipped with wireless network card because a friend of mine had the same specifications.

However, you should try to update the WLAN driver. Check the download page of the Toshiba driver for an update.

  • Satellite L50D-B-146 - wireless network adapter drops the Wi - Fi connection

I have a problem with the wireless (Broadcom adapter) card, it randomly falls free wifi for no apparent reason (I disabled the modules breast win 7 energy saving etc).

Running the diagnostics of material in the latest Toshiba/Broadcom driver package has given everything going on with the exception of the SPROM checksum failure.

Is this a sign of faulty hardware? is it possible to reflash the SPROM with the correct data?

Thanks a lot for all helo,.

    Cooktop

    > Is this a sign of faulty hardware? is it possible to reflash the SPROM with the correct data?
I think you're on the wrong track
If the wireless network adapter is listed and recognized correctly in Device Manager, then the WLan driver has been installed correctly.

The sporadic WLan disconnection problems could be related to different reasons that are:
    WLan router compatibility problem
Configuration of the router (kind of encryption WPA WPA2, TKIP, AES)
    WiFi signal strength

I recommend you to reset the Wlan router.
Then you test the performance of Wlan using unsecured wireless (of course only for testing purposes)
Then test the different encryption settings.
Also test the laptop with or without the power adapter connected.

  • Satellite P15-8409, Atheros wireless network adapter problem

Hello. I'm having a frustrating problem with an old laptop Satellite P15. I restored the phone to default settings using the recovery disk that the system was working very badly. After that, the wireless network adapter has stopped working. In the Device Manager "Atheros AR5001X + Wireless Network Adapter" is marked with a yellow exclamation point. In the menu properties, under general, the State of the device the following is listed:

The device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12)

The operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. The same problem has been present in SP1, SP2 and SP3. I also updated the BIOS to V2, but it also did not help.

At work, we use a wireless internet connection. At home, I have a DSL connection. Curiously, when I plugged the network cable to the House, the yellow exclamation mark disappeared and a wireless connection icon appeared in the network connections window. I assumed that the problem has been resolved by updating to Windows; However when I brought the computer in the office, the wireless adapter was once more in the State I described.

I searched the internet for the same problem, but was unable to find anything. I would be very happy to help.

    all the best,

    James

BIOS version is installed on your machine? And you have you recently changed some hardware etc...?

I don't know what it could be, but in the worst cases, the wlan card has certain shortcomings. You can check this by getting somewhere such an atheros wlan card or intel and install it instead of the one installed.

Maybe the exchange of cards should solve this problem?

  • ConfigFree: windows pop up message: sellers application is controlling the wireless network adapter

    Hello

When I draw a line from nearby wireless networks (with or without WEP security) to the laptop in the middle icon,
a popup message with the text: the provider application is controlling the wireless card.
Does anyone know what this message or where I can get the answer to this question?

After clicking on it you may see far (only the 'ok' button is available), the connecting line with the laptop wireless network disconnects after
    a few seconds.

Thanks a lot for helping me...

    Hello

In my opinion this message appears because a 3rd WLan utility configures and controls the WiFi connection!
    There are different possibilities:
The laptop uses the Intel wireless network adapter and the Intel Proset utility configures the WLan
    Or
The laptop uses the Atheros WLan card and Atheros Client utility configures the WLan
    Or
The windows have the option has been enabled and do this job.

In this case ConfigFree application cannot configure and control the WiFi connection!

  • Atheros AR5004G wireless network adapter

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite P30 Bios version 1.30, XP SP2, and I've been very happy with it until recently.

Since a few weeks I meet from time to time system crash, the computer crashes: does not react on the keyboard, screen freezes and only by pressing the power button for 30 seconds for a total power down allows. Fans spin again. Sometimes, after a such restart on diagnosis (before Windows starts) display the following message can be read: resource conflict - PCI network in the Groove 3 controller. Bus: 02; Feature: 02; Function: 00.
It is the only PCI card that has my system.

There was no material added to the system, the message is quite strange. Wait a few minutes and turn it back on it cause do not receive this message. Also helps dismantle the card wireless built-in, wait a second and mount it again.

When I use the computer connected to the LAN via a network cable, while radio signals are turned off, the problem not more occurs. When I disable the Atheros AR5004G Wireless Network Adapter in Windows, the problem is not to be produced.

There is no message in the event viewer.

I do not use recovery Toshiba OS, but Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed by our system administrator. The same Setup worked without a problem for about 3 months. After that I met the problem I tried to reinstall the drivers and software for the network adapter wireless since the original CD from Toshiba, but not helped.

I use the Atheros Client Utility version 3.1.2.19
Version of the driver name AR5211, C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ar5211.sys, 3.1.2.12.

I saw another user, peter-jaap mentioned on this forum a few weeks earlier the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Laszlo

    Hi Laszlo

In my opinion, there is a hardware conflict. You said that you have this problem for a few weeks. Do you have some changes or install software? This laptop comes with Windows XP SP2 home edition, and all the drivers that you have on CD tools & utilities are fit to work properly with SP2.

It's very strange that for awhile in particular this issue occurred. If you disable the network adapter in Device Manager you can use the card wireless without problems?

All drivers and tools on the recovery CD are adapted to work correctly with the laptop and it can sometimes be a big problem to prepare the laptop on your own with some specific configuration. In my opinion if there is no solution to your problem, you must contact partner in your country.
