Default file extension return back after modification

I'm changing the default program used to file for Server 2008R2 extensions for safety.  Once the changes are in place they returned to OEM extensions.  Does anyone know of the registry key change that is necessary?  I did a lot of research around with no luck.  Thank you for your time.

  • Selection of Vista Explorer by default file extension: this can be changed?

    By default, in the Vista Explorer, when you select a file name, the file extension is excluded. This behavior can be changed?

    Thank you.

    François

    To see file extensions, go to start / Control Panel / folder options / view and presented the box Hide extensions of known file types.  This way you will always be able to see the file extensions.  I have no idea why that is enabled by default because it is very useful and I would even say that it is important.

    If you have disabled (or if it's on, incidentally) and you rename a file without the extension, it will lose the file extension and won't open because he doesn't know what kind of file it is.  It's yet another reason for the extensions of files to all files are displayed permanently.  You do not want the name of the excluded file because this would mean that you could not change the types of files because the extension is "locked".  As long as you can see and change, there should be no problem.

    When you select a file name in the file extension Explorer is excluded only if it is hidden.  Otherwise you can see.  In any case it's there even if you don't see it (unless you have changed the name and does not include the extension in the new name).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    If you add the .json extension, it works then? Why people who design browsers or extensions them do create files with no extension name, in spite that these extension names are essential to make the files can be restored? I could never understand that.

    Hi, Unclemarcus2002,

    You would be wiser to post on the Forum TechNet where there is COMPUTER experts.

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/newThread

    Maybe using the ASSOC and FTYPE command in a script will do what you want? I think that these orders would also apply the association throughout the world, rather than on a per-user basis.

    ASSOC: http:

    FTPYE: http:

    Here is an example, that you can try.

    Let's say you have a text file called "foo.bar" and you want the extension .bar always open with Notepad. There is an association for text files, so get him by typing "Ftype | more' at the command prompt (it will make a major announcement). Finally, you'll see the line "txtfile". On mine, it's "txtfile=%systemroot%\system32\notepad.exe %1" without the quotes.

    First create your association: assoc .bar = FooBarText

    Now to assign your request to your file type association: ftype FooBarText=%systemroot%\system32\notepad.exe %1

    You should now be able to double-click the foo.bar file and it will automatically open in Notepad.

    If you already have a Microsoft Office Document Imaging association, I think that it should be relatively simple type of substitution. Use ftype /? for a little more help.

  • After saving the emails from windows live mail, why not open them on my computer as the file extension is wlmail.fol?

    After saving the emails from windows live mail, why not open them on my computer as the file extension is wlmail.fol?

    wlmail.fol is a tiny text giving the name of the folder. The exported messages will have filenames like 00D13E83 - 000025DF.eml. If you don't see all of the files like this, your export probably did not work properly.

    For a successful export, follow these directions:

    1. Set Windows Live Mail to work offline before starting.
    2. Create a temporary folder on your desktop * to contain the exported messages.
    3. In the Export Wizard, select the temporary folder, and then select all the folders.* *
    4. When it is complete, check that the number of files in each folder to the temporary folder is one more than the number of messages in the corresponding folder of WLMail.
    5. Copy the temporary file to its final destination.
      If you use a reader not NTFS to do this, you will see a warning that certain file properties will not be copied files. This can be ignored.

    * Windows Live Mail do not work with files that are not on a local drive, as opposed to an external or network drive. This is avoided by using the office as a temporary folder location.
    * If you want to export the files sampled only, select each of them containing messages. Subfolders are not automatically selected by default.

  • I'm unable to change default file associations. The association always returns to what it was.

    I am running Windows 7 64 bit.  I can't change the file associations default for .exe and .ini files (I have not tried the other file extensions).  I tried to make the change by choosing "open with", select the desired program and checking the 'always use the selected program to open this type of file.  I also tried with the option "Default Programs/Set Associations" in the control panel.  No matter what I do, the association returns to what it was before (the Notepad in the case of .txt and .ini files)
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks for your suggestion.  I tried Microsoft FixIt, but that did not help.  Then I remembered that I had installed and uninstalled a trial version of UltraEdit v. 18 on my computer.  This program partners with a variety of file types.  I reinstalled the trial version, making sure that it has been configured to not to associate any type of file and then uninstalled again.  Now everything works fine.

  • Why can't I change the action of double-tap by default for a file extension?

    With Windows XP, it was possible to change the default action for a file 'type' (IE file extension, because Windows 7 has no notion of a file "type" Despite other operating systems supporting these things for the last 20 years).

    Why is it not possible under Windows 7?

    Because it was designed by a guy named 'Me', which obviously has not used a computer or visited planet Earth recently, if ever?

    Why are all the MS support dumb people on this issue?

    Because they would have to admit they lied to their customers when they said Windows 7 was better than XP?

    No, it isn't. This isn't what he's talking about.

  • After the effects of automation Script - color key formats WMV Files and return automatically?

    Hello

    I'm pretty new in the Adobe After Effects automation script, but I was wondering if it is possible to open multiple WMV files (each file has the same background color) and use an automated script to apply the same effects of parameters of color key for all the files and then automatically rendered all the files as FLV, RGB + Alpha and select the audio Bitrate 96.

    Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I have in fact you have a waste of time and managed to put it together. There are a lot of comments to help explain what does what. You will need to change a few things for your use.

    Line 9 # will need the path to your preset file.

    Line 12 # will have the name of your preset OutputModule. It is case sensitive.

    Line 31 # can be changed if you want that different file extensions. Right now he's looking for more specifically '.wmv' or '. '. WMV channels"in the name of the file.

    {
      /*Choose a folder with WMV files*/
      var chooseFolder = Folder.selectDialog("Choose folder.");

      /*Choose render to folder*/
      var chooseRenderFolder = Folder.selectDialog("Choose folder to render to.");

      /*Set your animation preset name here*/
      var nameOfColorKeyPreset = File("/Users/gtm_osprey/Documents/Adobe/After Effects CC 2014/User Presets/MyColorKeyPreset.ffx");

      /*Set your Output Module preset name here*/
      var nameOfOutputModulePreset = "MyFLVOMPreset";

      slash = ($.os.toString().indexOf("Windows") == (-1)) ? "/" : "\\"; /*Determines the slash format for files paths*/

      /*Gather process into an undo group*/
      app.beginUndoGroup("ImportKeyThenRender");
      /*Validate folder object*/
