  Thanks for getting back to me.

  I was looking at the specifications of the printer HP DeskJet GT 5820 User Guide and it doesn't list legal document as a support for a type of paper supported, but if it has legal papers for a paper Type in the menu drop down, it should be able to print.

  I download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor to check the printer software. This tool can diagnose and solve many problems of printing software and printer.

  My printer refuses a single cheque due to the size of the paper being not recognized by the printer. The actual size of the individual audit is 8 1/2 inch wide and 5 1/4 inch from top. There is no size in the settings of the default paper size that matches the paper size... The quicken software print 1, 2 or 3 controls on a sheet so if I print 2 verifies that leavesme with a single cheque that is wasted because my printer does not recognize the size. My previous HP printer did not have this problem.

  xgdude, unfortunately this printer does not support true custom paper sizes, he acknowledged instead the paper types that are commonly used in the United States. This is because the non-traditional types of paper are difficult for the printer to recognize and inside the right margin of the printing error.

  The printer does support some dimensions that come as default printers. Unfortunately, you can not customize the paper size.

  In order to define the document by default to A4, you should try the following settings.

  1. go to printer and Faxes folder
  2. right click on the printer and select Properties
  3. then click the Preferences tab.
  4. go in the paper/quality tab
  5. Select the paper tray and paper and type format you want.
  6. click apply then OK to save the settings.

  I have 12 x 18 paper loaded in Tray 1.  The control panel is correctly set.  Our office has a mixture of windows and Mac and have always been able to print on paper 12 x 18, in the #1 tray.  I recently bought a new computer running Win 7 64 bit.  The driver "HP Color LaserJet 9500 PCL 6" of windows does not support custom paper sizes.  I tried to create forms under the print server properties, but custom sizes do not appear when I'm in my applications.  5 PCL and PCL 6 UPD pilots paper 12 x 18 in option, but when I use these drivers of the printer fails to pull the good paper from Tray 1.  With Acrobat, it defaults to 8-1/2 x 11 paper and prints a second sheet indicating:

  WARNING: IllegalMediaSize

  With AutoCad, using the UPD and printing on paper 12 x 18, control panels flashes and asks me to load the A3 paper into Tray #1.  Change the size of the margin in my application doesn't seem to help.

  After exhausting any permutation of the driver options, I reluctantly installed the PostScript of the UPD driver.  Problem solved!  Printing on paper 12 x 18 in Tray 1 works perfectly.  There is clearly a problem with the UPD PCL5 and PCL6 drivers.

  Fixed it myself.

  Hi Matt,

  To solve the above problem, please follow the steps below:

  Go to start--> Devicesand printers--> Microsoft XPS Document Writer--> rights, click on set as default printer.
  Open notepad---> print---> preferences--> Advanced-->---> do paper size scroll down select size C---> ok--> ok--> applies--> Print.

  It works 100% for you hack.

  Hi - I know that there is a support for this position, but it did not solve my problem.

  I am trying to print wedding invitations on Premium paper with a custom size of 5.85 5.85 x. I have adapted to print settings:

  • Custom size: 5.85 5.85 x
  • Paper source: main sandbox (although I tried all 4 options at this stage)
  • Type of paper: 'Other', 'Plain' and various combos - all without success tried

  t\The wedding invitations came with a model by default, automatically imported into correct sizes to the Microsoft Word document. When I print using 8.5 x 11 on regular paper, it is fine. When I change to the custom 5.85 5.85 x size, it does not print.

  I have the main tray aligned to the exact width of 5.85, and he still refuses to prnt. He continues to throw the error "paper mismatch".

  The driver for the Photosmart 6510 does not support custom paper sizes. You will need to use another driver to make it work. I'll link the steps below.

  I would use a model of the Avery collection. You should be able to find their online model number and then you can get the dimensions it. It is the easiest.

  Use the {Ctrl + P} keyboard command for printing, in order to circumvent the preview before printing.

  Bug 1007779 has been filed on the button print, preview printing opening rather then goes directly to the print dialog box.

• HP 8600: HP Scan, scan the incorrect paper size

  When I scan a sheet on the glass, the analysis shows the page with a horizontal line through with much of the white space below. It's like the default page size is maybe legal rather than the letter.

  I finally found the settings for the papersize! under the parameters of 'scanner presets. in any case, it was set to A4...

  I changed it to the LETTER in the hope that the change would reset the program if the 'a4' wasn't actually the settting... and the output shows that the size of the letter...
