Default tags in Windows Explorer

I want to tag images.  I select one (or more) in windows Explorer, and when I start typing the keyword, a box of flyout appears with the tag names that match at the beginning of what I type in a tag.  Some look like they come from Outlook, but others do not.  Where do these names come from, and where can I change/add to them so that other people can choose from default tags, rather than catch them?

Hello

With what program are you trying to tag the photo?

Do you have any third party photo editing software installed?

This happens with all tags or only some?

If you use the Windows Photo Gallery, go through the links below and learn more on how to tag the photos.

  • How can I remove topic of file Type in Windows Explorer?

How can I get the title of 'Type' of the track without having to move out of the site whenever I have access to a folder?  I can see the file simply type by looking at the extension of file and/or icon, in order to have a column dedicated to tell us the file type is not significant and placed automatically between two useful columns is just stupid - and the user have means of obtaining useful information permanently removed ' Type' column.  STUPID!

I already know the answer to that question is, 'it can't be done", so how can I communicate with Microsoft, who can do something, rather than be eliminated in a forum of people who all have the same question and no answer.  -Skyler

Skyler and others are right. Users (me) need to be modify by default displays windows Explorer then this file Type is NOT DISPLAYED. This would increase my available in 5 to 10% screen space. How do us set up so that the file type is not a default column in windows Explorer?

  • On the task bar of Windows Explorer post work without creating multiple instances of explorer.exe.

Hi, I tried the workaround solution where you enter "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe: {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}" in the target.  However, this doesn't seem to be a full working solution because it creates an instance of "explorer.exe" whenever you access.  I want a solution that allows me to open the 'Workstation' of the taskbar that creates instances fallacious "explorer.exe" (it should stay onlya singleinstance of explorer.exe).

BTW, no, I don't want to pin 'my computer' icon so I have to hover over windows Explorer and then proceed to my computer.  I want the default location in Windows Explorer my computer and no libraries (which had the idea to do this? this person is a fool, because the majority of people never use libraries)

    -Dan

Another alternative - using a VBScript script to launch my folder on the computer.

Copy these lines into Notepad and save the file as "MyComputer.vbs".

    Set objShell = CreateObject
    objShell.ShellExecute "shell: MyComputerFolder ', ' ', ' ', 'open', 1

Create a shortcut to the script including the full path, as below:

    C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe "D:\MyScripts\MyComp.vbs."

Change the shortcut icon, and then PIN to the taskbar.

How is it a better alternative?

The script takes 3K of memory (max) and duly ends after launching the folder desktop. It's better than the original situation where each instance explorer.exe taking 20 + K of memory and not end automatically.

  • How can I change the default topics listed in Windows Explorer?

When I look at the files in Windows Explorer there are positions that I find little use for me. I would like to change the default headings listed to display only those that I use most often as update, size, Type and Date of creation. How can I change the default settings for securities so that these topics, such as tags and side are not displayed?

To change the headers, right-click on the header bar, and click more.  You will see a list of options to be included in the header, and you can place about to adapt to your desires.  But they will not stick unless you modify the template for this type of file.  Procedures for this follow-up.

Here's how to change the default template for a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets the folder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show you how reset the display settings of Windows Explorer folder (which is what I think you want), disable Automatic folder Type discoveryand increase the view of the folder cache to have Vista don't forget not the display, model of file type settings, the size or the position of a window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.

It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the good File menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free program http://autosizer.en.softonic.com/ to resize them.

  • How to adjust the default column is displayed in the Windows Explorer screens

I would like to change the concrete by default of my columns when you use Windows Explorer screen. It bothers me that I can't find a way to change the columns that appear by default whenever I open a new window.

I want to display more or less than the default value. Everytime I open a window a new session with the Explorer, it displays update, Type, size and tags by default.
I know how to add or remove a column, but it is a pain when you have to do every time especially if I have more than 10 windows open at a time.
There is some great information available especially with the content of media like music, videos or photos. There are many categories to choose from which must be wound up manually like BitRate, author, size, Date acquired, update, etc...

Is it possible to change this so that by default, I can choose the columns to display by default. Do not have to adjust them each time I open a new window.

It is a 64-bit version of Vista Ulitimate, but if there is a response, I think it applies to all Vista OS...

    Hello Chuckbytes,

Thank you for posting.  I have a solution to your problem.  This fix is to modify the registry.  If you do not want to edit the registry, and then don't do these steps.  Also always do a backup of your registry before making any changes.
These steps are courtesy of Médard Ghazi of Tweakguides.
Please let me know if this helps you.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk

    Changing folder views

For example, you can set your directory \Users\[username]\Downloads to display in the Details view, but if you copy a picture, song or video in the directory, the next time that view you the content they can be display large icons mode. Even if go you back and change the view type, it can reset itself once more the next time you go a different file type in this directory.

    Solution

    Open the registry editor-
    Navigate to the following keys:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags]

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU]

Right-click on the bags key in the left pane and select Remove, and then do the same for BagMRU. This will remove most of the existing customizations for things like window sizes, positions and views. While still in the same place in the registry editor, you must manually recreate one of these keys, with a new parameter. Right-click on the following key in the left pane:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell]

Create a new key called bags to replace the one you just removed. Right-click on the bags, select new > key and the name of this new AllFolderskey. Right click on AllFolders, select new > key and name the new key Shell. The final result should look like this:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell]

Now left-click on the last key Shell and in the right pane click right-click in an empty area and select new > string value. Name this new string FolderType and once created, double-click on it and in the value data box, you can set the default view, that all files will be initially (unless otherwise stated) by entering one of the following values:

    NotSpecified
    Contacts
    Documents
    Music
    Photos

For example, if you enter Documents in the FolderType value data box (which I recommend), then all the files for which you do not manually set a default view to the standard Documents records display as you set it.

Now, in Windows Explorer, go to your \Users\[username]\ directory and for each of the folder main types down there (Documents, photos, music, videos), make sure that you set the view as you want, including things like choose the columns to show, and what each of them is, the size of any icons/thumbnails, how they are sorted, etc. When you make the changes for each folder click organize at the top of the Windows Explorer, select "Folder and Search Options", go to the display tab and click on the button "apply to folders. This will set this view to all folders of this type even, and this method also means that should you copy files to another type in a folder, it will not change this folder view settings - in the future that the settings should stay exactly as you let them.

Update: There is a step more that can help ensure that these parameters remain fixed. Navigate to the following key:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell]

Left click on the Shell key and in the right pane, if you can see BagMRU Size then it is not necessary to take this step. If she's not there though, right click and select new > DWORD 32-bit value and name BagMRU Size. Now, set this value to 10000 in decimal mode (or 2710 in hexadecimal mode).

  • Is there a way to change the default sort of the Explorer of Windows 8 fields?

I would like a way to change the default sort fields to explore.  For example, a default pictures folder displays the fields 'name; Date; Type; Size; Tags '.  Is there a way to change this so that a default pictures folder indicates 'Date Modified' instead of 'Date' when sorting.

In addition, the default order can be changed also?  Sticking with the example files pictures, is there a way so that instead of sorting by name, the default is sort by modified Date in ascending order?

Try the following (similar to earlier versions of windows):
    Right-click on the folder
    Properties
    Customize
-Choose among five models (General information, documents, photos, music, video - what's in a name?)
    -choose to apply to subfolders
ARange such view as described by Kevin
    In the menu bar:

    View

    Options
Change the folder and search options
    View
Apply to records (of the same model)
    Hope this helps

  • How to change the default value for the Windows Explorer window resizing

I recently reinstalled XP and now when I open Windows Explorer, the window opens it up to a size of about 1/8 of the size of the screen.  I keep the resizing to how I like it, but every time that I re - open, he is reduced to the size of 1/8th.  How can I make my default size size that Windows Explorer opens up to.

    I have already tried:

Open a window and make it the size you want

Open a 2nd window and are the same size.

The 1st window to the front, hold CTRL and click the red X in the upper right corner.

Close the window of the 2nd in the same way using CTRL.

Display settings files from the tools-> Folder Options-> view tab-> advanced settings, managing pairs of Web pages and folders, check the DISPLAY SETTINGS of don't forget NOT EVERY FOLDER

    None of those who work.
    Help please!
Any window that you want to resize all the time must be the last closed window. This includes now does no other windows minimized in the taskbar.

Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows all first via the taskbar and this one last. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

  • Windows Explorer full screen: how to enable by default?

It's about Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer.

I just discovered F11 makes the bar menus and top bar (which is otherwise blue bar called at the top of every program?) disappear.  Imagine my joy to see more vertical space available.  But... Windows Explorer does not remember my setting when it opens then.  Is it possible to get Windows Explorer to open the mode full-screen by default and when I need the menu (about once a year) bar I hit F11.

    Hello Windows installation,

There is not a way to have Windows Explorer go fullscreen and stay like that the next time you open. There may be 3rd party software but I'm not aware of it.

  • Create a custom buttons in Windows Explorer to the default directory

In the Windows XP Explorer: is there a way to create a custom button so that no matter where you are in a different drive, directory and subdirectory... all you have to do is click on the custom button and return to your default directory?  If this is not the case, is a custom button another way to do it.  Currently, I click on the [Back] button or use the button [Back] drop down to return to the default value.  Ok, but not really okay because it takes a click and return to the default value.

    Hi Steven Geib,

Unfortunately, the service back to the default directory is not present in Windows, and as it is a design, there is nothing we can do from our end.

If you want to suggest changes in the design here is the link you can make reference to: return products.
