Defrag program disappeared
original title: WINDOWS VISTA
DEFRAGMENTATION PROGRAM HAS GONE WHAT can I DO TO GET IT BACK AND STOP of LOSING IT AGAIN PLEASE?
Hello NEILGILDA,
You have to scan with the System File Checker, complete these steps below:
- Click Startand type cmd in the box start the search .
- In the results, right-click on cmd.exearea, and then click run as administrator. You will be asked to type the password for an administrator account. If you are the administrator or type the administrator password, click continue . Then, click continue.
- At the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, (Yes there is a space after sfc) then press ENTER.
The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista CD.
Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

I downloaded total vedio converter v.3.60, but when I drag anything and then press the botton I want to be converted to (like Mp3 or antthing), overall the program disappear... I uninstalled and then redownloaded and the same problem.
Hope to hear soon,

The Total Video Converter v3.60 is compatible with Windows 7?
If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
Use the following steps:
(1) right click on the program
2) click Properties
3) click on the Compatibility tab
(4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.
Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

I use Window XP Home Edition and lately, I've noticed that programs have disappeared off the coast of my office and in the list of programs without allow me to delete them. Firstly, this came to light when I went to start my virus scan and impossible to locate the icon or in the list of all the programs, but it is in the status bar at the bottom right of the screen. I have since discovered that other software have disappeared and when I will remove and reinstall them using the Control Panel can't do. And when I tried to back up my data when it came time to burn data on a cd, I got a message asking me to insert a disk. Yes, he asked for a floppy and I couldn't have it burn the disk that was selected at the beginning of the backup. A couple of days, I got the "blue screen" a couple of times and the computer turns off automatically. Oh yes, one more thing restore to a previous period will not fix the situation. Can someone tell me what is happening?
Hi LarryFuller,
It seems that your computer has been infected by the virus or malware. Scan your computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to get rid of the same.
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

most of my Windows 8 desktop icons and programs disappeared
About 20 GB, programs and files located on my desktop Windows 8 have disappeared. There are several empty folders always on the desktop with all icons and programs into them now gone. I've never seen anything like that in all my years with PC and Mac. I see all the icons and the folder disappears somehow but it's like 95% of them from my desktop Windows 8 watch now 2.05 MB 20 GB before vs. The good thing is that there was no important personal data on my desk because they are on a separate with the external backup drive.
Hey Joe,
1. don't you perform all tasks as Refresh\Reset?
2. is it a security software installed on your computer?
This problem may occur because of virus.
I suggest you to use the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if there is no virus.
Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected can be cleaned by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.I suggest you to check the folder settings.

Why is my defrag program reported a very large number of files not movable?
most of these files appear to be located in c:\system volume information and 25 system files.
I suspect especially two files \windows backup and \windowsimagebackup. Cannot access this last all as my administrator privileges do not appear to be good enough. Remove the statement are not so much denied as totally ignored. backup Windows does not recognize filed.
a screen CAP is lower with arrows indicating the files not movable.
Obviously, the free space on the drive is defragmented seriously, but not movable files prevent further action.
anyone can shed light on this apparent conundrum?
This problem has been resolved by deleting all restore points.
