Defragment the problem

I sent a question about a problem to defragment and I received a response from gerry, but there is no instructions for him.am I have something wrong?

Hi Gerry,

I didn't get back to you after your last answer because my computer was so bad that I couldn't do anything with it. I had to get a technician at home to fix it.

It turns out that my Norton anti-virus and Norton provided internet access provider has been configured to save himself from the times, consuming all my free space.

All is well now and I got 61% of free space.

I really want to thank you for your help, you are a good person.

Thanks again,

Charles

  • How to defragment the system disk?

On my HP Windows 7 computer, the system drive access to the Disk Defragmenter tool showed a growing fragmentation since I bought the computer about 14 months ago. Despite the warning that only discs which can be defragmented appear, the entrance to the system drive refuses to defrag (all other defrag properly). The system drive now shows fragmentation of 26%, so there is obviously files being written and rewritten on this subject. Unless I'm missing something, the reader certainly require defragmentation. But how to do?

I also use Diskeeper 2010 (version Professional first) and it keeps all my system files defragmented - I don't know it would deal with the problems you encounter (you can try a fully functional version for 30 days to see what it will do for you).

It is very reliable and I have never had any problems with it whatsoever (the company has been around for a long time and they have great technical support if necessary).

In my opinion, it's the best defragmentation solution available because it runs in the background (so you can use the computer while it defrags) and it also prevents the fragmentation. I suggest you to get the test and try - you can learn more about it at http://www.diskeeper.com/

There is a free offer here for the full Pro first 2011 version of Diskeeper. [Edit - the last of the free copies are spoken for.]

  • Most of the problems have been repaired, but now a new.

I am running Windows XP SP3 on HP Pavilion a708n PC.  A previous issue [July/August 2012] with Chkdsk to run each time you start.  I used cmd prompt and input: chkntfs /X C: and amended the registry key to: autochk k: C *.  I ran Chkdsk 'My - Tools', no problem found.

I edited the registry key to the default setting.  Everything was going well for about a week, then the "blue screen" starting: "autochk * program not found skipping autocheck.»  I can always run Chkdsk.  I also ran it in the Recovery Console thought that can stop the 'blue screen' message, but he did not.  Now, these last three days, I can't run defrag;  I get this error message: "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume HP_ PAVILION [C:].  Please run Chkdsk /f.' I have done this and still cannot run Defrag - same message opens.

I know that the file "autochk.exe" is in 4 four files:

    #1) C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$

    C:\WINDOWS\I386 #2)

    (#3) C:\WINDOWS\system32

    (#4) C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

On each folder click RT., click Open (file) point autochk icon and this message appears: "unable to run autochk.exe in Win 32 Mode."

Panda Security [apparently] missed a Trojan Virus before that.  PC was not running as usual - very slow start and opening various programs has been slow.

I have downloaded Microsoft Safety Scanner Utility and it found the Trojan horse which is not respected in Panda scans.  I did a few other "tweeks" as running Sfc/Scannow - no corrupted files have been found. SFC/Cachesize = 50, set and Sfc/Purgecache.  I also removed the two latest .NET Framework Windows updates.  Since I installed these two .NET Framework Updates, run Net Frame repair and everything picked up his old back gear and everything seems to work very well conducted.

I also uninstalled PandaIS2012, using their uninstall program / Web site by running twice by their instructions by e-mail and installed PandaIS2013.  The SCANINICIO file seems to always stay in [their] registry key, but is no longer start-up with Inicio.  They are the same - they both use the same way to open Inicio.exe.  Panda helped with everything, but now no longer SCANINICIO address in the registry, but not at the start.

There is a lot of information, but most likely, it has an impact on the question of Defrag/Chkdsk.

You'll appreciate help that you can give me.

    Thank you all.     Barney Bear

Your C volume was marked 'dirty' - more than a minute.

If you are looking for your system to get a XP file you're likely to find in several places - look at your example:

    #1) C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$

    C:\WINDOWS\I386 #2)

    (#3) C:\WINDOWS\system32

    (#4) C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

#3, that's where the 'good' copy workload of autochk is supposed to be.

#2 is a copy of autochk shipped with your system of the factory and probably is outdated

#4 is a copy of autochk got installed when you installed the Service Pack 3 on your system (it should be the same as #3)

#1 is the backup copy of the original autochk that was made when you installed SP3 if you never uninstall SP 3, which will be handed over (do not uninstall SP3).

You can see that Elizabeth23 has a copy in the dllcache folder and so, if you, but you will not see that if you do not include the files and folders hidden in your search.  Files in the dllcache folder are backup copies of critical XP system files that are used as spare parts (automatically) whenever a critical file goes missing.

Elizabeth23 also has one in the cdmcons folder, as it has the installed XP Recovery Console (you can't).

When you try to defragment a volume and Disk Defragmenter reports:

Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (c :))
    Please run Chkdsk /f.

This means that the volume that you want to defragment was marked 'dirty' XP.  This is not necessarily all of the data has been lost on the volume, it simply means that XP thinks that the volume should be checked to find errors because of something that happened before.

You won't be able to defragment the volume until the dirty bit has been removed.

This does not mean that a disk check is scheduled to run, and you can't cancel what needs to happen in this case because this isn't the problem.

Also the dirty bit is not set on a volume, you can still run a disk defrag with a record of date of arrival in the meantime (try).

Therefore, enter commands to reset or erase a disc awaiting review or suggestions for changes to the registry to make changes is a waste of time - that is not the problem (make sure Microsoft hired technical support engineers and the 'experts' Forum moderators).

A volume can be marked as dirty, if the system underwent a power interruption (power failure, pulling plug, removing the battery, button / stop), abandoned restart or an abnormal termination.  One of these events?

When XP starts, it automatically checks the bit of impurity on each volume.  You can also tell XP to ignore the bit of impurity on any volume, but this probably isn't a good idea in case there is a real problem that needs to be fixed.  If you have a hard drive where the dirty bit will not disappear, you can tell XP not to check that and that might mean readers is a failure.

If the starting XP detects that the volume is dirty, it will be automatically run the check disk with error correction (chkdsk/r) and try to fix the problems detected.

If the chkdsk command succeeds, it clears the dirty bit, then you can defragment the volume.

You can check the status of your bit of impurity from a command prompt window.

To do this, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

For example, to query the bit of impurity on drive C, type:

    fsutil dirty query C:

    The sample output:
    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C: is dirty

Is the volume of your sale or it is not dirty?

Register' looks like you used a registry cleaner.

If you did, this is definitely what caused your problems. They
    should never be used.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.
The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad

  • How to solve the problem with Windows Update on Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium SP1; Module Windows install encounter error 126, impossible to run/scannow sfs or TrustedInstaller. Help, please

    Hello

First of all, thank you in advance for any advice for any help, you can offer.

A week ago I noticed that Windows Update had a backlog of updates (30-40) as I had it value updates but let me choose whether to install them. As I tried to install, I noticed download election for hours but no visible progress in the taskbar and only a few updates installed on restart. Try to check the updates of similar results. I tried a number of solutions suggested here as a tool for troubleshooting Windows Update, but it made that seem to clear my list of updates to uninstall and make sure Windows Update has been under the impression that I had never checked the updates, apparently a worsening of the problem like today no update appeared and I encountered error 8007000D.

I've tried other options like Windows system update readiness tool and tried to run the sfc/scannow System File Checker, but what who would not (cannot start service repair) I grew more and more worried. On recommendation from other forums, I tried also to start TrustedInstaller in command prompt, which does not. Unfortunately, I had run a Disk Defrag and clean-up recently which had been deleted and (unbeknownst to me) my last restore point. The root of the problem seems to be the Windows Modules Installer, which does not start when you are prompted in Services (error 126), something wrong with the registry may. So reluctantly, I tried to perform a repair installation using a downloaded iso, I burned onto a DVD (insured was also Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit SP1). However, even if it doesn't seem to work, it is constantly check for installation updates (unless this is supposed to last several hours?) or if I opt not not to check, it pass the compatibility check and then fail in the second stage (collection of files, settings, and programs). I tried several times, once in offline mode with my disabled (Norton) antivirus and once in clean boot mode.

I don't know what other options I have. I would like to avoid a clean as much as possible installation, because my computer (HP laptop) still seems to operate normally (for the moment) outside the impossibility to install Windows updates (via Windows Update or directly from Microsoft, it seems), but I think it would just leave vulnerable more and more over time. Has anyone else had similar problems and has found a way to solve? I'm not a computer expert so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Try the troubleshooting steps in this link: error message when you start the service installer of Modules of Windows (TrustedInstaller): "system error 126: the specific module could not be found".

  • I updated my drivers and now my computer runs very slowly. How to solve the problem?

I've recently updated my Intel graphics driver and my drivers Nvidia because they were terribly outdated. As a result, I am able to run some games that I couldn't run before, but my computer became very slow. Now, the startup time is significantly slower, and the worst part is that the actual performance of the system is slower. I checked in the Task Manager, and my physical memory constantly rotates between 40 and 60% (I have 8 GB of RAM, Windows 7) without any game or program being open, except the web browser and Skype.

What is perhaps the reason for this problem? Is certainly the problem in the drivers? How to solve the problem?

"My graphics card is GEFORCE GTX 660 M. Is it compatible with the latest driver? »

Ah! A laptop computer. With laptops, it is generally better to download the driver from the mfg, not Nvidia.

This is because the computer laptop mfg bring changes that can make the improper generic Nvidia driver.

and while I always count should not slow down the system... You never know.

"What services I need to run.

Just to keep the correct terminology-

Services is the area where you stopped the service of bitlocker.

The start is where you keep things from loading when you start in Windows.

-Most of the time what's in Startup deactivation is something personal need, but there are some things that

I must be on the left.

I leave the Intel common user interfaceand Installshield update service, mainly because I don't bother

    Discover what they are doing.

I also let anti-virus, Realtek audio, software profile keyboard and a few other things active.

I don't have Adobe Flash loading with Windows, but I don't use it a lot, and when I do the software that

    uses it it launches automatically.

The bottom line here is that if you have software that you use all the time, it is more convenient to have it start with

    Windows.

-Concerning the Services. This also has to do with personal preferences to a certain extent, but most things can be left alone.

I do not use the Services tab in the Configuration of the system, because I think it's only a one time adjustment.

(Clean boot, linked earlier, is the best tool for the verification of conflicts with Services)

To stop or disable a Service manually, tap - services.msc - in the run command to open

    the main window of Services.

There is an Adobe Flash update in Services that should be kept, but when Adobe makes an update

I select the option notify me, but not to install it automatically.

I always preferred this with any updates, including Windows updates as there is less chance of a corrupt

Update If you're aware, it happens and do not do something intensive system while the update is being installed, particularly when an update requires a restart to complete.

-Registry. In the control run, type - regedit - and browse the registry with the file path in the

previous post and follow the instructions. You can save the key you are modify if you wish, that the use of the

backup to change the value to what is current would be faster than navigating to the key again.

-When playing around with things you are not familiar with creating a System Restore point before you

making these changes is a good insurance policy.

If you don't know how to create a system restore point - time to do some research.

In fact, all of the above is covered by tons of tutorials out there in the www.

SSD vs HDD - the specifications of the system for you the machine should be in your user manual or on the

    MFG web site.

Prefetch is useful with HARD drive, because it improves performance somewhat, but read-ahead is not really necessary with SSD.

and can reduce the life expectancy SSD a bit (there is debate on gravity)

More research for more details. D

-If you use a HARD disk and that you have enabled Prefetch, the Prefetch will be rebuilt over time, if you delete the files.

-Here's another tip for when you are not sure of the impact of deleting files.

Rename file/folder. You can do something like add another couple of P to the front, or a 1a which will move

the file to the top of the window. If nothing is wrong in the next few days, you can delete the folder.

This method protects to empty the trash accidentally and lose the file/folder.

-Speaking of deleting the file. A great TEMP folder can slow things way down.

Run Windows, Disk Cleanup . This will remove many files in the Temp folder.

Or, for a full, clean, go to the - your User\AppData\Local\Temp

Open the Temp folder and delete anything that can be deleted (impossible to delete the files that are used).

    -Defragment your HARD drive

-Run the Zig - zag Kit you'd use again and analyze the results.

    It was a long, huh!

    .

  • Messages of the Sierra and the problems of continuity iMessage

I took these communities to try to resolve a problem which, for me, is as old as the first day iMessage became available for Mac.

I can't emphasize how incredibly boring, it is completely out of sync how both are. The problems are always the same:

    (1) never are conversations in the issue of order/same on both devices. For example, for a conversation that has been exploited to iMessage on my iPhone, when I open my Mac, it appears in the notifications, like new. All the answers are there.

    (2) a conversation that has been deleted from the iPhone suddenly appears on the opening on my Mac... seriously?

    (3) the conversations that are deleted on my iPhone does not disappear in the Messages and vice versa.

To sum it all, pretty much the case is that both apps, while they expected to work simultaneously with fluidity to do what they want when they want.

This has been a problem since iMessage became available on Mac OS for the first time (think it was Mavericks). I've been waiting for Apple to fix this with each software update to make OSX or iOS. But guess what...?

My Mac running OS Sierra and my iPhone 6 s more running iOS 10.0.1. Everything that could be activated in so that they can work together has been activated and triple checked. I would really like to know if anyone has a way to fix this or if there is other people are having the same problem.

    Hello

An excellent explanation of exactly how iMessages works on iPhone and Mac.

It does the same thing, if you add in an iPad or and iPod Touch.

iMessages are pushed, the Treaty is called, for devices that have been associated with (by adding the Apple ID on an iPhone).

This means that it is not as Mail where are read from the server and in the case of a POP account you can choose to let the "message" on the server if other devices can read.

IMAP accounts will be synchronized as you say but POP will be more like the Messages app with iMessages.

The iMessages which is addressed to you are marked by the number of devices is in the opportunity to see it.

He pushes the devices until they respond (Accept) once this device has accepted it is removed from signage and only devices that did not have a chance on seeing.

There is a time limit on how long the iMessages is pushed to a device (such that being away from your Mac turned off everything on vacation or phone that died or was out of range of the carrier)

Once the device have the iMessages it is removed from the server.

A simpler view is that the iMessages is "copied" and sent to each device and that each device can not see the other "versions" and that each "copy" is deleted from the server that happens on the device.

The news to "read" your comments, you might see comes that of the device, it was intended to (i.e. addressing a number only the iPhone to another end may, so together, to send the reply 'read').

Same thing with sent.  This is why you get a response, when he showed even "Delivered" as someone can answer from a connected device.

This means that the 'Sync' is really only show on all devices and nothing do you on one device will be the effect of the other.

It is not broken, even if this isn't what you think that told you about the device.

  • The problem of mobile safari search engine

If you set your iPhone like China location. The mobile safari will put like google.cn search engine. But Google has pull out of China.  If you are looking for something with google.cn. Google will give you a picture.  You must click on the image and go to the google.com.hk.

The google.cn is no longer! We need google.com!

    Please edit the files:

    /Applications/MobileSafari.app/SearchEnginesFallback.plist
