I uploaded several photos from a third party site yesterday. In this process, I make several files which I then recycle once the download is complete. Because I'm uploading about 6 months worth of photos, I decided it would be best to empty the trash when I finished and did. Today, I went to access a Word document, and ALL my files are missing from the Documents folder - it is completely empty. When I try to look for one of the files that I know was in the file, I get a message that says "the point _ that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved, and this shortcut no longer works correctly. You really want to remove this shortcut? "In the research forums, I've seen where this can happen after a trojan/virus. I met said before virus on my laptop, so I know what it looks like at and. I have experienced this on my desk that I currently have the problem with. I ran a full scan, just to be on the right side and found nothing. Any suggestions?

Apparently, I disabled my soundcard by rt clicking on the speaker icon in the status bar on bottom screen rt system. Then I deselected the output device and selected the option helmet on the reading tab. I am getting no sound using headphones or my internal speakers. I use Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop Fujitsu Lifebook series A. helping, please? THX.
Thx for the help, in my particular case uninstall the sound card and then restarting solved the problem. It's a much simpler solution. THX Tho!

Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista Edition Home Premium
When I try to upgrade to windows Vista my freze computer when you complete the last upgrade operation. Then I have no key board, no mouse, and I have to close it manually. When I reboot it is reinstalled windows XP. I get no error message. What can be the problem?
On the basis that report (thanks for that, even if it's in French -, and mine is pretty rusty :)), I recommend that you do the following things:
First, download the latest drivers (both in Vista and XP versions) for your motherboard (chipset and onboard devices), a webcam and a printer; also download the latest versions of Intellitype and Intellipoint, and APC UPS software. I suggest you all burn to a CD.
Uninstall programs:
-Intellitype
-Intellipoint
-Logitech Desktop Messenger
APC - battery backup
-Consumables HP shop
Uninstall the drivers:
Camera - Logitech
Logitech - microphone
Print drivers - HP (uninstall the Device Manager, delete the printer from the Printers folder and remove the driver source file (usually located in C:\HP_printername)
-Audio SoundMax
Disconnect devices:
Logitech - camera (and microphone, if it is a separate issue.)
HP printer-Update all other system drivers (motherboard chipset).
Reboot the system and disable integrated sound in BIOS card.
Start Windows and try to re-run the upgrade.
I know that the Upgrade Advisor is a not reports something like a show-stopper; However, I am of the school of thought that anything that can be even a slight problem should be corrected or deactivated for best results.
HTH, and please post back with the results

Hi there, im trying to fix my friends laptop. The CD/DVD drive will open and close but not write to disks. He does not appear in my computer, but is in the Device Manager. I tried to remove it from the Device Manager and reinstall, but that has not worked. I also tried a system restore, but that no longer works. After some research on the web, I found that some people edit removing the upperfilters in registry and that has solved the problem for them, however, I can't find the upper or lower filters in registry of cd/dvd players information. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
Danny.
Hello slbenfica1,
1. have you checked if the drive appears in Device Manager and the BIOS?
If you have already tried the patches and removed the filters in the registry, it could be a hardware problem.
I suggest you check if the drive appears in the Device Manager and BIOS.
Here are the following steps to access the Device Manager:
How to optimize Internet Explorer
a. Click Start. In the start search box type "devmgmt.msc", and then press ENTER.
b. expand "Readers of DVD/CD ROM" and check the status of the device, see if you find a yellow fringe or exclamations.
Check also if you find the drive in the BIOS. You can consult the manufacturers manual and the instructions to check the shortcut key to start the computer's BIOS.
WARNING OF THE BIOS:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
