delete account in Outlook Express

I accidentally started Outlook Express 6 on my computer (with my ATT/password account and now I've lost all my Inbox on my site of regular e-mail.)  I didn't express Outlook. How to remove it without losing everything?

When I clicked on Outlook Express Wizard, I gave them my old account (yahoo) so I think I'm duplicating while having sent back with Outlook Express being the main one. I also get errors on servers and Http messaging ports

If I remove this account I'll delete all my email because it is in the same name as my old?

Could I just changed my account name and password of Outlook Express?

Are you the same person who started this work?  If so, why are you using another profile?  If you aren't the same person, you should start your own thread.

A moderator has split this thread and move the messages from the poster of the news about itself in the XP forum if it's really on XP and OE.

If you delete the account in OE, messages will remain in the files, I think, if you do not delete the identity.  Will be difficult to get back them on the server, but if you set up an IMAP account, you should be in a position of your choice.  See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mobile/comms/mail/imap-01.html

Follow these steps only if no one else is using this Outlook Express identity.

1: in OE: tools | Accounts | Delete the account.

2: delete all messages in the OE files and empty the deleted items folder.

3: remove all the dbx files in the message of store with OE closed. When it is open, new, and create empty dbx files.

  • set up my account to outlook express email

I'm not real computer, so when setting up my email account, I have no idea about whethter I use POP3, HTTP, or one of the others. Nor do I have no idea anything on incoming server names or out emails.

I need to get this set up. I tried, but keep the error message: "the pop3 host is not found. Please check that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: , server: pop3, Protocol: POP3, port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, SocketError:11001, error number: 0x800CCC0D.

I need to get this set up and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Until you configure an e-mail account, you need the following:
Call your ISP (internet service provider) or your mail server, ask them to give you the following:

    E-mail address
    Your user name
    Passwarod
    Name of the incoming server
The name of the outgoing server

When you have those, also ask if they can help you set up the email account or if they have a Web site that will teach you how to.

  • My email account on outlook express, see below

On my account to outlook express email my friends send me emails and I have the mails there are links to the Web sites or utube videos, but when I click on the link / links, only a page of blannk arrives, so I have to copy and paste the link, then the page comes, how can it be addressed?

Are these links in blue as a link should be? Or are they black? If they're blue, read on...

With the permission of MVP Frank Saunders (RIP).

If you get a blank page when you click on a link in an email:

    1. click on start and then click Run.

    2. in the Open box, type:

    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    3. click OK and then click on OK again when you receive the following message is displayed:

    DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll successful.

    4. If that is fixed, see this article:

    You can also try this:

Go to start/run, and then type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose "Extract one file from installation disk" ("expand file" for WinXP).
Type the file oleaut32.dll, not worry about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to ' restore from ', type or browse to the location of the file, which is probably to the Win98 CD-ROM installation folder (generally D:\Win98) (i386 for WinXP), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for WinXP) file, if any.

Then, next to "save file in", type C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32 for WinXP), and then click OK. System (or msconfig) File Checker searches the file, saves it as you asked for it and shows that "the file has been extracted successfully."

    You may need to restart.

  • How to manage multiple e-mail accounts in Outlook Express?

How to configure different e-mail accounts in Outlook Express?

    Hi Helen,

To configure e-mail different accounts in Outlook Express follow the steps below:

    1. for each of your email accounts, find the type of email (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) account, the name of the incoming mail server (example: mail.isp.com) and the name of the outgoing SMTP mail server (example: SMTP.) FAI.com). this information is usually found in the file FAQ (frequently asked questions) of the provider or by sending an e-mail to the provider.

    2. start Outlook Express.

    3. Select accounts from the Tools menu. Click the mail tab.

    4. click Add on the right side of the box and choose mail. The Internet Connection Wizard appears.

    5. type the full account name (the name that appears in the line of the electronic mail sent from this account). Click Next.

    6. If you already have the new account, click on the top of the page radio button, enter the name of the account, and click Next.

    7. Enter the e-mail server information that you retrieved in the first step. Be sure to type the information exactly as it appears in your notes. Click Next.

    8. Enter the user name, as it appears on the account. The name is usually the above address; for example, the name of the account of [email protected] is "feedback".

9 type the password to access the account. If the password is incorrect or if you do not remember, contact the mail provider.

10 check the box remember password if you do not want Outlook to ask the password whenever it checks the mail.

    11. click on finish. Repeat as needed for all e-mail accounts

12 change account properties by clicking on the name and choosing Properties from the list on the right.

    Hello

    1. is this problem limited to this user account?
    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    Method 1.
Let us first start the sfc scan and check if there are any file system corruption.
    a. to do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

  • I have 2 email accounts in Outlook Express. I can't delete the emails in 1 accounts. I explore 8 and XP. How can I fix it?

All other functions in the problem account seem to work well.

    In the account of problem:

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.
