delete several photos

Looking through my library, I found most of my photographs seem to have multiplied. I sometimes there are 3 or even 4 of the same image and also some documents. How could this have happened, and how can I eliminate the additional copies without deleting each component separately? I have hundreds of photos.

Hey @koori ,

Sorry, no, you must select each one separately. You can also press the Ctrl key to select more than one at the same time, but each of them is to delete. It does not avoid accidental multiple deletions.

Thank you.

  • How to remove several photos library icloud?

I use icloud photos with multiple devices, including an iPhone 4, iPad, Macbook pro and two PC.

My icloud library is too large, with many duplicates (same photo taken several times) and many photos, I don't want to keep.

Deleting photos in the library using the icloud library is a slow and tedious process.  I can remove only one at a time, each time takes 20 seconds or more, even with Internet broadband.

How can I select and delete several photos at once?

    Hello rhwolfson,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

Looks like you want to be able to remove several photos icloud photo library at the same time.  I will do my best to help find a solution for you.

To delete multiple photos, the easiest method is to sign in iCloud.com on one of the computers you listed.  Once logged in, click on the photos icon.  When you are in the view 'Moments', you should see "Select of Photos" at the top right of the browser window. Click on 'Select Photos'.  You should now be able to select multiple photos and then click on the "Remove" button that appears.  This should allow you to delete several photos at the same time.

    Have a great day!

  • When I delete a photo, where he's going?

When I delete a photo, where he's going? Is still somewhere on the computer? If I delete the photo in all other folders, as it appears, how do I know if my computer is off?

If you just 'delete', it's probably going in the trash.
If you SHIFT + Delete, pointers to the files are deleted.
(In other words, easily recoverable for a certain period of time determined by several factors.)

If you want to turn off your computer completely and permanently, you need a secure deletion utility to "crush" the file.  Something like... Eraser.

  • When you select multiple images in LR 5.2 on Mac, how delete all photos selected?

Based on http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/1308132?TSTART=0 I decided to add each question separately:

Hello, I am very interested in buying Lightroom 5.2. I tried the RC that was missing today. Yet, I have several questions that I can't find really good conclusive answers, I'd like to get an answer before buying LR. Please do not write maybe like this or that (assumptions), because I don't want to start my entire workflow and then realize that I have to change all around, please reply, if you know for sure that something works and you are, preferably, using this method too.

When you select multiple images in LR 5.2 RC on my Mac, using the film display, how to remove all selected files using a shortcut (as opposed to from the context right click menu > delete selected photos)? Details: To backspace help wonder if I want to remove it, I choose to drive, but he simply deletes individual photos, so if I selected 3, I need to do this 3 times.

Several operations of selection do not work in Film Strip mode.  You must be in the library to act on several photos grid-Module view.

    depends on undisclosed information

What version of the operating system and photos you have? You have a managed library or library referenced? You are migrating from iPhoto to Photos and if you have done is always the iPhoto library on disk?

If you are up to date (current software is OS X 10.11.6 and Photos 1.5) with a managed library and no iPhoto library and then deleting Photos (select photos and press control & delete) will move the photos in the album deleted recently - they will be removed from system within 30 days or when you remove form them the recently deleted albums which ever comes first

  • Apple Photos fails during the download of several Photos or videos

This question refers to my iMac (27 ", mid-2011) running OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6770 M 512 MBand and a 1 TB hard drive.

I noticed a problem recently, when I'm uploading of photos and videos of our iPhone devices 6.  I do not experience this problem if I download pictures and videos one at a time.  This problem occurs if I try to download several pictures / videos (or all of them) both (that is, him "import all" option), causing the upload process to fail. Photos gives me an error message indicating that the app does not recognize the format of the picture/video and it didn't PTPcamera. After that I see this error message, the "Import" tab in the Photos is gone even after that I have close and restart the application.  I even tried to restart PTPcamera nothing works.

The problem seems to occur more often with downloading several videos with uploading several photos.

When this error occurs, the only way I can restart the import process is to restart the iMac, after which the tab 'Import' reappears magically in the Photos and the upload feature working correctly again (for as much as I want it to download a photograph at a time).

Anyone know what is happening and what I can do to fix this error?  Download photos and videos one at a time is feasible but a real pain in the brain.  I know that the machine is long in the tooth, but because buying a new iMac is in the distant future (unless I win the lottery), I would like to know the root where I have encounter this problem once again the cause of this error.

Just in case the problem is with the phone, no pictures, try a simple Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10 to 20 seconds).

Rather than manually import your files, try to use the built-in automatic synchronization functions. In both Photos and iPhone, Flash My Photo Stream. All new files should then be transferred to your computer by Wi - Fi, without your help. Let your phone charging overnight.

    Greetings mutyurke

From your post, it seems you deleted all your photos and removed the recently deleted photos thinking that they would still be in the cloud.

Looks like you could possibly use iCloud photo library. If you take a look at this article: iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support

If you have active iCloud photo library photos are synced to all your devices include in iCloud. If you delete a photo off of one device, it is deleted on all devices, including in iCloud.

    Take care.

  • How to remove photos from my iPhone without deleting icloud photo library?

My iPhone is full and I wanted to remove some photo to release some spaceso I supported the up to iCloud and I started to remove photos. ***? They are endangered to iCloud! Now, they're just gone. It's crazy! Image capture you can import to everywhere, but the function "delete after importing" seems to have disappeared. I'm sure this question has been beat to death, but how you remove photos from their phone without removing them from their photo library iCloud?

    So frustrating.

Does anyone know of a solution to this?

iCloud is a synchronization system, not just external storage.  Once you turn on photo library all you do with a photo is on ALL of your devices (including remove them).  See the last section in this article on how to recover pictures that you inadvertently deleted:
